It has been a quiet week. Not a lot has happened to be honest. A few more hits have gone up, a couple of people have been burnt hurt, people have died, but generally life goes on as normal. That is good for you joe schmoes on the street, but it isnt good for those of us who make their living peddling gossip and taking mud. So this episode will essentially just be me, Duggee, editor of the only paper on the streets, educating the masses on my personally help opinion.

There are two kinds of people, in this thing of ours, who like power. Those who plan and scheme and train and maneauveur there way into power, and those who use money. Our current group of leaders are for the most part, the first kind. They worked their asses off until they were in a position to take out the previous bunch of leaders, and then they staged a coup and overthrew the previous regime, which was essentially the remnants of the old Soviet State that had fallen due to theft and embezzlement. Over the last couple of months they have built on their power base, set up new crews, consolidated and removed obstacles, until we are were we are today. Stability. 

The other kind rise to power because they have access to wealth, either new wealth or inherited, but they attach themselves to those who are going places, fill their pockets with coun, and ride their coat tails to the stars. The think because they are wealthy that they can do what they want, when they want to whomever they want and the avarice of those they have allied themselves with will keep them safe. They dont believe that the rules of 'the game's apply to them. They lie on shot reports or about their protection level, or they dont bother to report them at all. They ignore instructions from their CLs or hide when it's time for them to lay down their life for the food of their city. 

The current group of leaders dont have these hangers on. They are giving no one a free ride to the top in exchange for money. Sure, this thing of ours is based on money, and donations are always welcome, but they will only get you anywhere if they are accompanied by loyalty, trust and hard work. This second group are incapable of giving loyalty, trust and hard work because they are incapable of doing any real work. They are incapable of being loyal to anyone they haven't bought. And that's the real issue here.

Some folks have died, some, not all, because they have been caught out. Caught out plotting against their own leader, caught out planning the deaths of the family that they should be loyal too, caught out lying on their shot reports, caught out openly lying again and again or caught out doing the bear minimum to get by.

This is the mafia, not GMC or NorTel or Boeing. There is only one punishment for breaking the rules. We dont invite you to a meeting with HR and put a written warning in your permanent record, we take you out to the desert and make you disappear. However, these folks don't get that. They throw their toys out of the pram, they blame anyone but themselves, wildly making accusations, and finally when they realise that no one cares, and that their money wont buy them a free ride to the top, they slink of back to the omd country and hide in their run down villas until someone who is willing to put in the hard work makes a regime change. Then they scurry back to the streets, and try to buy their way to the top all over again.

So, how can you recognise these folks? Well usually your first sign is they will come to the streets and make unsubstantiated claims about their parents and those who either killed them, had them killed or failed to keep them alive. For the most part, their parents never made their button. 100 year old wise guys. They will hitlist people  anyone within 3 circles of friendship of those they have decided to blame for their current predicament. Generally these hits will have some kind of hastily written message that will mean nothing to anyone but the lister, possibly even written in hard to read english. In place of their crew tag, they will wear their hatred on their sleeve, attacking those, who in their twisted imaginations, let them down or betrayed them. They will run from street corner to street corner making speeches, often poorly concocted, with poor enunciation and diction, trying to explain to the world their pain, misery and misfortune. They will eventually take their own lives, either because they are heading back to the old country, or they want to try one last time to sneak their way to the top.

However, they dont realise that the vast majority just dont care. The vast majority know that honesty, loyalty and hard work is rewarded. Look at the stability we have, look at how quiet it is, no wars, the city heads working together for a common goal and for the common good. Name one other time in history when anyone who was made could set up anywhere in any city they wanted too? Follow orders, be loyal and work hard and the world is your oyster. Don't want to be a Mafioso, don't want to follow orders, then don't, go and work for Boeing or Ford or buy yourself a place on the board of MGM.
