It was late in the evening in Philadelphia and the Patangeli Cabaret Club was in full swing, Crown and Cork whiskey could be seen flowing from the kitchen by the bottle to the tables as Vito overlooked the entire place from Luis' old perch that sat in the middle of the club. The Rigazzo's had long been a family friend of the Patangeli's and following the recent re-emergence of the late Godfather, Luis Patangeli, the club has since found its step again under the guidance of its new Steward. The job comes with its complications though... "Mr. Rigazzo.. a word if you may?" One of the guards whispered into his ear as he took another long drag off his cigarette and exhaled before slightly acknowledging him. "It appears one of.. Luis' old rivals has found out his business is up and running again.. and that he is INFACT, still alive and breathing in Folsom Prison... rumors are they are going to hit the new warehouse.. should I-"
Vito smirked at the man as he rose his hand to silence him before taking another long drag and exhaling. This is the type of thing he was just mumbling to himself in his head, the job comes with complications, and lots of them. Luis had some issues with many people during his reign as Godfather of Philadelphia, Vito heard plenty about the stories.. and the wild west gunfights Luis found himself in alongside his daughter Valencia, so for someone to be upset that he was rolling in money again was no surprise. He leaned forward in his seat now and cleared his throat to address the man. "Did you catch any names.. uh-" Vito paused and rolled his hand forward as a hint for the guard to spill his name.. but the idiot didn't catch on and Vito sighed as he continued. "What's your damn name again?" he took a slight drag as the man bumbled John "Alright, John, so no names then?"
The guard shook his head no and Vito let off a much larger sigh this time before reaching forward to the glass on the table and lifted it up before swirling the contents inside and taking a large gulp and placing it back down on the table and gesturing for the man to leave as he leaned to the right to whisper into his brother's ear, who happened to be his head of security, with a chuckle. "Where do you find these fucking guys? The lot of them are half stupid I swear.. senza cervello" He took a pause as his brother Vincenzo chuckled and nodded to him as he took a sip of whiskey himself as Vito continued "Found out what you can from old Uncle Ron.. he is still up roaming around the Patangeli Manor. The old bastard hasn't died yet.. whats he gonna be 96 this year?" "Yea.. the man is older than fucking god. Saw his own brother come back to life and then carted off to prison.. I'll find out what I know."
Vince quickly stood up and tipped his hat to Vito and left him alone as the curtains began to draw back on the stage and the crowd began to cheer as the woman slowly danced their way onto the stage. Vito took another long drag off his cigarette and exhaled as he stubbed it out into the ashtray and leaned back into the booth and sighed.. Sometimes being the Steward was not the best job, if anything went wrong it was his head on the stick when Luis came home.. |

The black sedan slowly crept around the horseshoe driveway and parked at the bottom of the steps. Vincenzo, Vito's brother and head of security, stepped out of the back of the sedan and quickly patted down his suit before closing the door behind him as he took a long pause to look around the premise' .. the old stone manor sat at the top of the long flight of steps looking mighty untouched, aside from a few blemishes. For being so old it still had that modern look to it and warmly invited you in with its appearance. Vincenzo's guard began to climb the steps to the front of the house as he let off a long sigh and began to climb them as well. He was not a fan of steps, never had been since he was a kid.. his body never liked it because of his extra weight and his knee's popped with each step he climbed. When he finally reached the top he let off another sigh and wiped his brow of the sweat he worked up before walking up to the large brown mahogany doors and loudly knocking on it... "Mr. Patangeli, it's Vincenzo.. Vito's brother are you home??" He yelled loudly as he now began pulling back on the door knocker and letting it release with a loud clank against the door before it quickly was pulled open and the two men found a single woman at the door, she was young and looked confused.. "Can I help you gentleman with something??" she quickly said as she glanced between the two "I'm sorry to disturb you ma'am.. we are looking for Ronald.. Ron Patangeli.. is he home?"
She peered at Vincenzo for a long moment, almost looking through him and into his soul before she gave a faint head nod and pointed towards the back of the house and stepped out.. closing the door behind her and walking towards the back, gesturing the men to follow.. In the clearing up ahead, Ronald could be seen with a wooden mallet in hand as he smacked a small plastic ball through a hoop on the grass.. the two men chuckled and shook their head as they could tell it was croquet.. Ron peered to the left and smiled as they got closer and slowly turned his body to face them. "Mr. Patangeli you have guests-" Ron quickly spoke over the woman as his face grew with a grin "More like family has arrived, good to see you Vinny.. what brings you out to the hills of South Philly? Luis has not written anything in weeks.. and I haven't heard anything more from him. You can tell your brother-" Vito smled and quickly embraced Ron with a hug before stepping back and looking over the grass area Ron was playing croquet on. "Not here to inquire about Luis this time Uncle Ron.. it's about the family business actually.. Vito wanted me to come get some answers.." "Ahhh, yes.. need the advice of an old man again. Of course.. lets go somewhere more private we can talk shall we?"
Ron took him by the shoulder and lead him slowly away and into the house as he peered over his shoulder at the house maid still standing there. Business was still to be kept a secret of course.. |

Reaching the study, Ron quickly closed the door behind the two and made a hand gesture for Vincenzo to sit across from him as he slowly made his way behind the desk and sat down as a loud grunt escaped him and he placed his cane against the desk and leaned forward. "I'm not surprised to see you here actually.. your brother is going to run into some problems here soon.. My brother sure made a mess for us and our family here in Philadelphia.. the various crime families who were born and raised here.. well they aren't so fond of us." Ron leaned over and poured a cup of whiskey with his shakey old hands and set it back down onto the desk gently and took a sip before continuing.. "I think it's time for the Patangeli business to move out of Philadelphia.. expand our horizons in a new city.. I heard out west is getting real active. Perhaps you should convince your brother Vito this is the best move for both families. I know he just set himself up here in Philadelphia.. but I know a man out in Seattle who would be more than willing to bring you in..."
Ron began to write down an address and names for Vincenzo when he began to speak, he knew it was disrespectful to question Ron but he felt inclined.. "I'm not sure that this is all such a good idea Mr. Patangeli, my brother just wanted me to come and get some information about who might hit our business here in Philly.. not an escape plan?" he poured himself a glass of whiskey now and took a sip as Ron stared him down with a blank look "It's too dangerous for you to be here.. if our family is to survive, and yours.. we need to begin to expand our operations. Since Luis is away in prison, I am instructing you as the second in line to the Patangeli business here, you are moving to Seattle to open up a new club there and that is final. If Vito has any issues.. you knew where to find me."
Ron pushed the paper across the desk and tapped on the top next to the name Curtis and Vanya before leaning back in his chair and gesturing for Vincenzo to leave who reluctantly stood up and left, knowing Vito was not going to be exactly pleased with the information he gathered.. |
