Suggestion: Earn the position of Godfather Started by: Regular_nice_dude on Aug 11, '20 18:16

This is a roleplaying game and in order to take godfather for those that don't know... you have to remove a game godfather who you can't see until you have the units and the days.
You shouldn't be allowed to borrow people from out of town to whack your godfather.

I and the vast majority of the player base who believe in hard work and earning your spot would like to see a change to how you get the highest rank in the game - by earning it instead of whoring it.

Getting to 60 units requires mindless grinding with almost no interaction.

Surviving the required 120 days and getting auth requires you to know the right people and how to navigate the political landscape, i.e. lie, backstab and be a general turncoat.

We can’t do much about these mentioned factors, but how about changing the way you become a godfather so that it means something?

***The easy one - Roleplaying***

MR is a roleplaying game, thus there must be a minimum requirement of RP activity for those who want to lead.

We can’t have silent leaders. There has been constant complaints about silent leaders.
A leader can’t shy away from the public, not even after they’ve reached the top.

A candidate to the GF position must have street presence, or else their attempt to challenge the NPC GF will have a lot less chance of success;
“Your city doesn't know you that well and can’t support you."
If you still decide to challenge the NPC GF, maybe the FBN of that city will side with the NPC GF and shoot at you.
RP activity increases the vision, If you don't train your vision you won’t be able to see the NPC GF;
“You failed to locate your target, perhaps you need to enhance your vision?”
“You weren’t able to identify your target. Your shot missed its target.” (NPC GF gets 24 protection)
If you take the GF position and then stop posting and become inactive, your city might revolt after a period of time. Similar to the first point: “Your city doesn't know you that well and can’t support you."

***Borrowing members from other families***

If you have been carried to the position by your friends and are about to take the Godfather position:

You must have been a crew leader for a minimum of seven days.
You must have recruited 50% of your members when they joined the game
If you borrow members, those members must be in your crew for seven days, if you’re taking regular GF position and 14 days if you are aiming for GFC position, before you can challenge the NPC Godfather
At least 50% of the members must be Made and above

***Earning the loyalty of your members***

You must have at least 50% loyalty and a disloyalty level of less than 25% among your members in order to succeed when you challenge the NPC godfather. If you don’t meet those requirements, the first time you challenge the NPC GF you will fail and have 7 days to cool down before you can try again. If you fail a second time you have to wait 10 days. A third fail leads to 4 weeks of cool down or death if you are challenging the GF.
Forcing members to set their loyalty stance to “loyal” should result in demotion or DD. (Mail conversation or lounge PM is required as evidence for pressure.)
Getting rid of borrowed members within 7 days after taking GF and 14 days within taking GFC will demote and void the GFC boost
Killing too many members from your own family within a short period of time, i.e. purging, will affect your defence and gun strength.

Make good relations, treat your members well and earn your rank.

+1 been away a little while but I recall wars where one godfather would die and another would immediately take his place mid war. 0 work put into it. Give people a reason besides living for 120 days.

You shouldn't be allowed to borrow people from out of town to whack your godfather.

You can't borrow anyone to wack the GF, the person going for GF has to do that themselves and there is a chance if you don't do it right the GF will wack you.

You do realise this is the Mafia right? we are not model civilians we are villains who do whatever needs to be done to get to where you need to be.

Other than John Gotti how many Godfathers do you see out there prancing their stuff? none due to the heat it would bring them they are usually controlling things through their Boss and Capo's.

The loyalty aspect though does have some merit.

Clarksom it amazes me you are a godfather and have had multiple accounts being godfather . Yet have no idea how the game works. Truly devastating that these our the vets of the game someone who does not understand how taking godfather works yet has taken it multiple times. What more evidence could you need for change.

Excuse the spelling typing from an iPad.
Report Post Tip

Evidently I do know how the game works as i am here and you are there so what exactly is your point?

Report Post Tip

Also where are these multiple times you speak of? name a few

+1

I like the idea too.

Clarkson - Sure a person with the 120 days and unit goes up 'alone' against the NPC GF. But that can not happen without his members backing his mission. Without him having the numbers behind him. To support him in that mission.

So the idea of some 'fostering' of members from other families, makes it seem like he shouldn't be going for that rank. Especially if he can't get there with his own established family.

Report Post Tip
You dont though. Your first paragraph is a clear understanding of that.
Not sure what you mean you are there. Where are you exactly ? Making enemies for future runs because you cant fathom the idea of growth in your city.
Report Post Tip

Ahhh what has that response got to do with me? I never had to borrow any members personally, hence the response at the bottom of my original reply "The loyalty aspect though does have some merit"

Report Post Tip

Actually was referring to your other points Clarkson, I am aware you know what loyalty is!

What I was referring to is just being the potential GF wacking the NPC GF. Yes, sure he is the one doing that shot on his own.. as you rightly said. What I was trying to say it is impossible for him to do it without the number of members required at least. So he isn't really 'on his own' 100%.

Report Post Tip

I totally agree it's a team effort I have never said otherwise, we are all only as strong as the people around us hence the whole political aspect of the game, I do however like the fact of loyalty being factored in somewhere with regards to taking GF.

Report Post Tip

Gael do you even understand whast you are saying yourself? first paragraph read it carefully.

Report Post Tip
Ok so let's elaborate. Who will wack you should you fail? The npc godfather?
Report Post Tip

+1 for the loyalty section of attempting Godfather!

Report Post Tip

There is some solid stuff in here.

I like the roleplay aspect and the borrowing members aspect. However forcing activity in the forums has rarely yielded decent results and instead tends to lead to garbage posting for the sake of it, which is not enjoyable for anyone involved.

The loyalty one is going to be tricky, as if a GF failed the challenge, they would then know a proportion of their members are set to disloyal. I am not a fan of the loyalty feature in general, but it is supposed to be anonymous and this would give the leader a strong indication that some of their own members are out to get them. This would almost certainly result in a witch-hunt.

Would love to see this go into play.

It's about a sense of entitlement. It begins with CL and hands.  Not much has changed in years in this department.

I get what you're trying to do here encourage activity from leaders and I agree more activity is needed from them. But here's the thing this is the Mafia not politics. Godfather is not like running for governor where you have to give speeches all the time and kiss babies. The best Godfathers are the ones who are in the shadows unknown to the feds, and the cops. Who are trying hard to identify who is the Godfather running things in the background so they can build a case on them and then take them down.
