The Kill: Research & Understanding Started by: TadKnackered on Aug 15, '20 18:32

Tad Knackered was heavily involved in the psychological study and treatment of the criminal element. His patients were increasing with time as he became more popular and more trusted. It was not usual for a man or woman in the mafia to talk about himself in such depth, but it helped that he himself was part of that criminal element. It would do him no good to share anything with the feds or local police as he was under investigation himself for a multitude of crimes. Anything he brought forward would ultimately be used against him in a court of law by the corrupt federal government.

The only way to further his ability of treating his patients was to gather a wealth of knowledge on the criminal element. One of the most common aspects of the criminals he treated was that they killed people. Whether for money, for enjoyment, or just because somebody told them to do it. It varied greatly when it came to the reasons. It also varied greatly when it came to their reactions to it and even thoughts prior to the act. So many things to look into when it came to the beginning, middle, and end of a murder.

He made his way to the streets and took out a piece of paper to read off of before he would be posting it for everyone to see...

Knackered Psychiatry: Research and Reward

I come to you all today to make a request that will aid in my research and treatment of the criminal element. Not that I am looking to 'fix' any of you or myself in a way that kills off our way of life. There just must be ways for those who live this life to truly perfect how to live with everything that they do. I meet many sleepless individuals and others who suffer other ailments due to this way of life. If I can better understand the different mafioso that walk these streets, then I can help to keep mafioso working better than ever.

New knowledge leads to better treatments that keep people earning, killing, and making speeches in their best state of mind. Now obviously, this is completely voluntary as I know some of you just have too much heat on you to attempt sharing any information. Although the more feedback I get, the better my treatments will be.

I am asking those of you that are willing to share a bit about why you are killing, how you kill, and how you feel before/during/after such an event. I will give a few structured questions for those who want to keep it brief, but on point in just a moment. These main aspects in regard to murder tend to be important puzzle pieces when it comes to treating my patients. Now I know my own explanations to these questions and the ones I've gotten from my patients, but that just isn't enough information on the subject.

Now, some of you may be wondering 'why would I share such information!?' and I will tell you why! For compensation! Now I can not promise any specific amount to those who share their murderous thoughts and feelings with me. Since some of what is shared may be minimal information. Does a response such as that deserve the same compensation as a man who helps me make a breakthrough? I certainly do not think so. But everyone shall receive some amount in compensation for their answers. Therefore the better the information is, the better the compensation.

As I stated before, here are the main questions I am seeking answers to:

1) Why do you kill? Is it for money, pleasure, loyalty, or something else?

2) How do you choose to kill? Are you a marksman shooting from afar? A close up and personal shooter? Perhaps you prefer your hands? Do you make them turn away from you? Anything you can think of may be valuable when it comes to how you choose to kill your target.

3) How do you feel about killing? Prior to a kill, during it, and even afterwards. Perhaps you even feel these emotions the day prior or weeks later. Every detail is precious!

So, there you have it folks. I am looking for mafioso to share the answers to these questions and help me treat your fellow mafioso in a way that keeps them at one hundred percent effectiveness.

If you feel that it best suits you to share a specific time that you killed then that will be fine as well. I'll have to dig through it a bit for the information that I need, but it is better than no answer at all.

~Doctor Knackered

He finished speaking to the mobsters that surrounded him and then tacked the flyer up to the post that stood next to him. Then he took out his notepad to begin taking notes of whatever people were able to share with him about the act of killing that was so famously connected to men and women of the mafia.

Report Post Tips: 1 / Total: $20,000 Tip

Thomas stopped as he made his way down the streets upon hearing TadKnackered speak up. It seeming like an interesting enough idea and any amount of extra cash in his pocket seemed like a good idea, “I haven’t been around these parts long, Sir but I hope I might have a little insight for you.

To answer your first question, I’ve killed because it was asked of me. The reasons vary, disrespect, running their mouths a little too much, being a rat. The reasonings don’t matter all that much, they are what they are. The only thing that matters is I was asked to do it. I’m not in a position to ask any questions let alone why. I do my job and move on.

If were going to survive here, we need to be adaptable. There is no thing as an easy or a perfect kill. There is always a risk however it is done. The key is to avoid patterns. If it is done the same way over and over, it is that much easier for someone to pick up on that pattern. You need to be as comfortable looking them in the eyes as you are staring down the sight.

It is best to disassociate with it. It is simply a job, something that needs to be done by someone. It is what it is, a necessary evil in these times. The best way to look at it is it’s you or them. If you want to see another day, it has to be them.

I hope this helped with you research, best of luck to you.”

With a smile and a nod, Thomas continued his way down the block.

Wheeler watches as the good, though admittedly, knackered looking doctor explains why he has come out to the streets. He decides to entertain the man, if only for the compensation offered.

1) Why do you kill? Is it for money, pleasure, loyalty, or something else?

“Your first question. Why? My answer? Why not?

I was forged in the fires of the Great War. Sometimes I would kill from yards away, poking my head above the trench wall to look death in the face, and pick some unfortunate soul to send to hell in my place. Sometimes, I would be fighting for my life in some godforsaken tunnel, under earth which was shaking with the explosions of mortar fire, in the pitch black where men became demons, and war became brutal and full of hate. Down in those tunnels? You became little more than an animal, using your teeth to tear the throat from a man you had never met, who you might have been friends with in another life, because you had been told to do so by some arrogant fuck a world away, and because your life depended on it, and the life’s of your friends, for whom you would kill and die for. Sometimes, you’d kill someone and you wouldn’t even realise it.

What then, is left once that is over? Killing some rat bastard, or some guy who owes you money, or just some random bum in a pub who looks at you the wrong way... it means nothing. Life is cheap. “

2) How do you choose to kill? Are you a marksman shooting from afar? A close up and personal shooter? Perhaps you prefer your hands? Do you make them turn away from you? Anything you can think of may be valuable when it comes to how you choose to kill your target.

“How do I choose to kill? However is convenient. Depends on the situation. Some heavily guarded politician, or rival boss giving you trouble? Or got a particularly large sum on their head? A rifle and a good vantage point will do the job. Gotta do it quietly and be out of there before the feds know it’s even happened? Use a garrotte. Some cheese wire, tied at each end around a block of wood’ll do. Even if they manage to catch one of the loops, their pulling will only make the second loop tighter. Or use rope and tie a knot in it, it’ll crush their throat sharpish. Some no name bum in a bar? Use a bottle. Wanna make a statement? Carve them up nice with a sharp blade, or bludgeon them to death with a lead pipe. Blow their house or place of business up. You name it, I’ve done it.“

3) How do you feel about killing? Prior to a kill, during it, and even afterwards. Perhaps you even feel these emotions the day prior or weeks later. Every detail is precious!

“You want my honest answer? There’s no feeling like it.

In the moments before, there’s a pit in your stomach, nerves maybe, or anticipation. You feel the restlessness of your bones, the tightening of your muscles. You’re ready for it.

During the kill? Well that depends. Your shooting from a distance? Nothing. You learn to feel nothing. Breath deep. Breath slow. Pull the trigger. Bang. You in the middle of a bar brawl? Now that’s something. The buzz, the ecstasy. That adrenaline drops and your hands shake. Your blood pumps and your vision narrows. Things merge together, your memory blurs, the entire thing becomes a jigsaw, and nothing you do will let you put it back together. You’re missing half the pieces.

Afterwards? At first, there might have been guilt. There might have been a questioning of it. Now? Now it’s just like snubbing out a cigarette. You don’t think about it. It’s done. A thing of no real importance.”

Wheeler looks at the doctor, right in the eyes, and savours the memories of those moments of life and death. He liked the ones that were up close and personal best. There was a pure buzz in that life or death struggle. A return to your roots. A truth to it.

“I hope I managed to answer your questions sufficiently doctor.”

Tad watched as the first man known as Thomas_Raith to share a bit with him walked off, but he had a solid short term memory in order to jot down some notes based on what the man had to share. He had a similar stance on the topic of killing as many of his patients did including that of a military man he treated once.

"I do my job and move on...." He muttered out loud as he continued his notes.

Interesting. The same way a soldier who signs up to serve his country would feel about the act of killing an enemy is how this man feels about killing those he is ordered to kill by his boss.

While not entirely surprising, it is good to see a constant such as this pop up in his treatments and now these personal statements. There could be more to this...

Perhaps if we dig deeper...

He turned to a young boy who he'd hired to assist him if the need arised, "Here go give this money to that man that just shared and walked off. Tell him I appreciate his short, but concise input."

The boy took the money and ran off. Many mobsters were looking a bit concerned that the man would not get the money....

"Oh, don't worry. He knows he'll get plenty of money and have a future working for our organization if he doesn't run off with it. If he does, his older brother may need to have a 'conversation' with us. I'm confident the money will arrive in full."

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Tad was adding and subtracting from his notes as Wheeler walked up and began to share. He wrote furiously knowing that the perspective of a Crew Leader was quite the important perspective to acquire as he continued his research. The fact that his first subject caused him to think of a soldiers point of view and then to have it followed by a man who was once a solider....how intriguing.

"Ah, yes you've done a fine job answering my questions Consigliere Wheeler and I appreciate the time you took to do so. Very in depth and helpful for my research. Here you are for your trouble sir. Honestly, I may even hope to inquire further in the future if you do not mind. Quite the life you've lived and how it must have helped to impact these answers." He smirked and handed the man some cash for his time.

A soldier and a mobster....not uncommon....but not common in his research or treatments so far. His life experience seems to have helped him understand that 'how you kill' is all situational.

Many in the mob will kill almost exclusively in a way that they enjoy and the situation can be damned. Perhaps being a solider creates this difference in thought processes.

The man admitted to some guilt being felt post-kill early on in his career as a mobster, but that it has gone away over time. The more he killed.....the more he felt distanced from the event. This seemed to be somewhat different from his time as a solider....but he viewed that as a much stronger 'me vs them' scenario.

Must dig into this particular set of answers more later...

He scribbled a quick star at the top of the page where Wheeler's notes began so that he would know to return to them later on...

I doubt that I am the best person to ask, my family have, with a few exceptions, not been renowned for their ability to shoot. I'm very much a very small cog in a far larger machine. However, as we both have to put up with Gimpanzee, its only fair that I try and answer you. So why do I kill? I kill when I am ordered to, and I kill when I need to. If you break the rules, rest assured that one way or another I will get you. You betray my city, and I will come and get you. You might die of old age first, but I will get you. The kill itself depends on the crime. It might be a long distance assassination, it might be a casual shot to the back of the head, or it could be my hands around your throat, watching the life bleed from your eyes whilst saying 'Congratulations, you've won your corpse badge.'

Finally, how do I feel about killing? Honestly? I don't like it. I won't shirk my duties, but that doesn't mean that I will derive any pleasure from it. I would rather go through this life without ending other peoples, but given the behaviour of some people lately, that will not be possible. Short and sweet, but my answers are honest.

Tad listened intently to Duggee as he shared his thoughts on the matter of killing in the mob. His answers were....as he described it....short and honest. Though for Doctor Knackered this was quite a remarkable answer and one he had not yet dealt with whether here on the streets or in his office with a patient.

"You may feel that you are not the best one to ask, but if all the answers are the same or just too similar then there is little benefit to it. To find somebody such as you in the mob is always interesting." He smiled as he began to scribble some more notes in his notebook.

Duggee is not in favor of killing....

Not common in the criminal element as most either enjoy it or find it to be extremely necessary for one reason or another. How can people like this exist in the mafia? - must dig into this question and thoughts later....

To wish it could be avoided.....fascinating stuff....

Although, as it seems with most who enter this world of crime.....he knows and understands that killing will eventually be something he must do. That tactics do not matter.....just that it will become something that has to happen..

Final note: Seems many of the reasons he has for killing are in regards to loyalty and honor. Reactionary killings directed at those who wrong him, his city, his friends, etc.

An honor code of sorts...

He looked up from his notes to see Duggee still standing there....

"Ah yes, your payment for assisting me with my research! Thank you for this. It has been very intriguing and helpful to expand my own thought processes. While you do not have the most common thought process on the matter, it is one that is unique. Unique is always amazing in my field of work." He handed the man some cash for his time and waited for the next person to share...

Wheeler stands counting his money after being paid for his contribution to the tired doctors research. Not bad. Not bad at all. He listens without interrupting as Duggee gives his own perspective on killing.

“Ha Corpse badge! That’s good, I might use that one!” He says with a chuckle. He then takes a card from his pocket and passes it to the doctor, it has his contact details on one side, and a crudely drawn black hand on the back.

“There are my contact details Doc, feel free to contact me to arrange to discuss this further. I look forward to hearing from you.” He says, before shaking the doctors hand and making his way off into the crowd. There was business to be done after all.

Gimpanzee sat down with the doctor knowing his rights when it comes to strict client confidentiality!

1) Why do you kill? Is it for money, pleasure, loyalty, or something else?

Probably all of those reasons. It's a dirty job taking out the undesirables but someone has gotta do it so if you're going to be paid handsomely for it then who am I to turn it down? Growing up as a Teabagger if the bossman told me to make someone disappear then I do it, no questions asked. Fastforward a little while and not much has changed apart from the dynamics in which they occur.  I daresay I'd take great pleasure in ending someone that threatened my fine City.. I don't think there's anything sadistic or perverse about that.

2) How do you choose to kill? Are you a marksman shooting from afar? A close up and personal shooter?
Perhaps you prefer your hands? Do you make them turn away from you?

I don't really have a preference providing the required outcome is achieved.. but sometimes tearing someone to shreds with bare hands is quite gratifying. There is something quite primal about it. Some little no-mark thinks they can put their hands in your pockets without repercussions? What better response than to inflict the mother of all beat downs - Maybe they should've picked a better target if they don't wish to end up in the river with half a face and a bulletwound to the head.  I wouldn't dream of making them turn away.. I get a kick out of them knowing it was me.

3) How do you feel about killing? Prior to a kill, during it, and even afterwards. Perhaps you even feel
these emotions the day prior or weeks later. Every detail is precious!

I'm sure it can be an emotive subject for some and for others, not so much.  I'm in favour of it if that's what is required and no other resolution can be achieved.  How I feel prior to it would depend on the circumstances.. If it's something that has been on my mind for a while and bubbling away then it gives me that warm fuzzy feeling knowing I'll be instrumental in their downfall.

How would I feel after it?  Probably wouldn't give it a 2nd thought if for example I'd killed someone that I found to be an annoyance and constant prick at every opportunity - I'd fuckin' love it and the aftermath that came with it.

Gimpanzee's weight on his shoulders instantly felt 63% lighter.. Today was going to be a good day

He watched as his boss, the Chimp Prince of Crime came over and sat down next to him. He must have heard of Tad's little research project. The Gimp began to share his own thoughts on the subject at hand. This would be quite the intriguing bit of knowledge for his research. Not only was this a mobster, but a Chimp at that! The note taking would be exhausting....

"I appreciate your participation in this boss." He said as he began listening and jotting things down in his notebook.

Another mobster with an honor code....just this time it is a chimp...

The environment he grew up in and where he worked on his way up to being a Don had a strong impact on his view of killing it seems....

Nature versus Nurture, eh?

.....a bit of a violent nature and enjoyment from it.....primal feeling? Quite a balance of nature and nurture it would seem....

Overall just quite the unusual case in every aspect...

Tad continued writing and knew that he'd have to review his notes quite a few times to make sure he got the most out of these shared thoughts. His pen found its way back into his pocket and he closed hit notebook for a moment...

"Thank you boss, I think that this will be an immense help to my research. I can't wait to dig into this a bit more. I'll know where to find you if I have further questions about what you had to share." He began to pull out some cash from his pocket to give to his boss.

Tad paused and scratched his chin, "Wait, would you rather I just pay a hooker to spank you as compensation? I mean, I can just give you the cash. I just figured you might prefer different compensation."
