Mahihkan had left the city that her father was from, apparently his devotion and dedication to the city wasn't good enough to for his kin be employed with any of that cities outfits. She presented her letter of introduction as was customary her father told her that you could not introduce yourself you had to either have the letter that stated you a part of this thing of ours or you had to of had done some prior work for them to take notice.  These were the only two ways to be in this thing of ours.  Well that city didn't honor the letter, they just ignored it with a cold shoulder and blank stare.  So Mahihkan took the second traditional route and did a few jobs in the neighborhood, only to receive the same  indifferent response.

Obviously this outfit and their acting Godfather had no idea how traditional things were done. She felt that her father would not want her to stay around a family that had shown they had no idea or at least no respect for the way these things traditionally worked. So she set out to find another path to  full-fill her fathers dream for her. He had put all his effort into teaching her the old ways so that she would be able to attempt to be an  exemplary example of her bloodline in this thing of ours.

Mahihkan decided she was tired of the west coast's dry weather and set out for a different climate. Deciding on the east she took her letter of introduction, since this was the primary way to obtain employment in the old world, and found herself in the Bronx of New York. After paying a few guttersnipes for some information on families that were looking for possible new prospects. She found out that a Don by the name of HustlinHoe was recruiting. She took her letter of recommendation and presented  it to her LHM at the time a man by the name of AnthonyPinotto, this was  the way things were done you never approached the Crew leader, you always went through his men to obtain an audience. Seeing that her letter was in the traditional old world format . Mr. Pinotto knew that Mahi came from a respectable bloodline, and arranged for her to meet up with Joe, one of HustlinHoe's men the next day.

The next day

Joe walks up to Mahihkan, the  serious look on his face  let her know this was all business, and the way his shoulders were set made her get a sense of the urgency  of it. "Alright then, the Boss likes to try her new help out and see where they best fit in the Family," the thug named Joe she recently learned says. "Today is 'beat the deadbeat' day, a personal favorite of mine," he goes on to say. "Moe will be here shortly with the car, just follow his example, be brutal, and you'll do just fine."   A wiry smile crossed Mahikan's face as she heard she was going to be able beat on someone. It would be the perfect opportunity to release some of the sorrow, and hurt she had over  her fathers death and  the rejection she received from her birth city.

Moe and Mahihkan walked a few blocks and then entered a small mom and pop grocery store. Moe flipped the open sign over revealing that the store was now closed as he locked the door. Mahihkan wasted no time as Moe secured the front, and grabbed the mark, a  fat little store owner who was refusing to pay his protection money. It was Mahihkan's job to convince him this  was bad judgment.  She dragged the fat rolly-polly man pleading for her to stop to the back of the store into his office and closed the door.  Her multicolored eyes narrowed as she looked over her mark then planted a well placed pimp slap hard against his face making the fat man fall to the ground sniveling.  "I'll pay, you don't have to do this."  She smirked at his whimpering,"You are right I don't have to. I want to, and you will still pay. As a matter of fact you owe interest so you will pay double, no triple by the time I am done with you."

She then hauled her booted foot back and gave the store owner a swift kick to  his breadbasket forcing him to expel the air in his diaphragm. As he gasped for air she knelt down and pulled a blade from her boot top. In a practiced motion the blade  was quickly up against his jugular, and her other hand pulled his head back with a solid grip in his hair.   The fat man was forced to hold eye contact with her emotionless multi colored eyes. He could see the uncaring and cold bitterness in her soul, as he swallowed hard in nervousness.  With a quick flick of her wrist she nicked the skin that was a feeble shield over his pulsing jugular.  " If  I have to  come back here..." , she lifted the blade of her knife that now was tainted with his blood and licked it. " The next persons blood I'll be licking off my blade is your precious little daughters." She pointed the knife at the picture of his family on his desk. His eyes narrowed as he nodded his head in agreement. She let go of his head with hard shove then kicked him hard in the back. " Now get your fat ass up and get my boss her money." Several minutes later she walked out of the back office a smile of satisfaction and small inkling of peace in her eyes as she handed the bundle of cash that was three times what the boss was owed to Moe. " Moe, he said to spare his life he would pay her  an additional 10 percent every week."  Moe commended her on a job well done, took a small pinch of the bills she had had handed him for  HustlinHoe and handed them  to her as payment. " We will be  in contact Mahihkan , don't leave the Bronx. " She knew she had better stay in the Bronx like he said, this was obviously not a request, but an order.

The next day

The next day she was outside minding her own business washing the filthy windows on her new place. It was small , but larger than the place her father had them living in and it was hers. When Joe approached her again. With a single understood look she knew it was time for another job for the Boss. She grabbed her bucket and wads of newspaper and carried them into her small  home followed by Joe. When they got into the privacy of her small home, he spoke in a hushed tone with intent. ""You were a natural on that job, a natural but the Boss likes well-rounded folks in her employ. Today you are going along for a ride with Greasy Fingers Steve. It's a long day of stake-out but hopefully, you two can get the job done tonight," Joe tells her. Since thieving has been her main source of income, she felt certain she would do an even better job than the night before.  Joe and Mahi left her place and they went their separate ways when the left the alleyway. Joe headed back to deal with his daily dealings. While Mahihkan took a stroll for several more blocks till a car pulled up next to her, it was Greasy Fingers Steve.  " You need a lift dollface." She cringed at this she hated being called cutie  names, but responded  with the scripted response. "Sure am fella," as she climbed into the car.  Greasy fingers drove the car several blocks and then backed into an alley way. When Mahihkan looked up they had a prefect view of the entrance of a club. Greasy had explained that this was a new outfit trying to move in on the Bosses turf and that they were there to scout out the business for a raid that would establish the hierarchy of ownership under HustlinHoe. The night was uneventful as they sat there watching the people come and go they both took notes of the patrons and the people who put on airs of being in control or in charge of the place. After many hours  the sun started bringing faint light to the horizon Greasy fingers Steve decided they had  watched the place long enough. " Let's get out of here kid." He smiled a gap tooth smile at Mahi as he slowly pulled  the car form the alley. He dropped her off several blocks from her home and took the information they gathered to HustlinHoe.

The next day

Mahihkan had gotten a call and when she picked the line all that was said was " The warehouse." she knew what this meant hung the phone on its receiver. She went about and  quickly  tossed on her boots and slung her leather jacket over her shoulders. Then Mahi went into her closet and pulled out the small TT pistol from her collection. She tucked into the inner pocket of her jacket and left for the warehouse. When she arrived she spotted four familiar faces, four other thugs who were recruited around the same time as her. She stood there waiting in the warehouse with  the other thugs when Joe came down the stairs from the Boss's office. "Alright, we have a situation we have to handle. Seems like third-rate hustlers are trying to infringe on the Family's business and we can' have that. We are going to wipe them out, I tell ya," Joe says in a booming voice. You've never seen him so worked up before and you've seen him in some, er, situations by now. "Let's roll."  The excitement was building in Mahihkan  were they going to have  a shoot out, she was anxious, she hated shoot outs preferring to be up close and personal with a knife or blunt object. She enjoyed that look of uncertain fear in the eyes of those she dominated in this fashion.

Making the sign of the cross she grabbed her pistol as she followed Joe into the building. The shooting started almost immediately apparently this was the hiding place for that outfit that was trying to move in on the Bosses turf with that new club.  Mahihkan had not known it but one of the men they saw when they were doing their stake out the night before owned this warehouse. Turned out he was the bank roll for the upstarts. With guns blazing and screams and shouts filling the air excitement  and fear boiled in her veins.  Was this going to be her last job? Was a bullet here with her name on it? She pushed these fearful thoughts from her mind. If it was that was fine she told herself that was the way  life was... living by the gun.
