The pain is immense as two bullets tear into @Wheeler. All those bodyguards. All those fortifications. And still, he was shot by some no name bum who got too big for his boots. What a fucking disgrace, he thinks, as he collapses to the floor. The unidentifiable assailant approaches slowly. Knowing @Wheeler wouldn’t have the strength in him to lift his gun, never mind to shoot it.

The killer says no words. Nothing. Not even a whisper, to mark the death of a Crew Leader. A fucking travesty is what that is. @Wheeler would have said something, but instead, he found himself choking on blood. Laid there helpless as the faceless man aims his gun at @Wheeler’s forehead.

Bang. The bullet hits with a sickening crack, and for @Wheeler everything goes black.

His thoughts drift over his life, he sees his childhood in flashes, his mother, his father. He remembers the day when he was handed a white feather. He remembers signing up for the war. He remembers the killing. So much killing. He remembers the time he spent locked away, a prisoner of war. Then, he remembers his release. He remembers the distaste he had for his home upon his return, so empty, without his mother or father. He remembers the boat, which carried him over the ocean to a new life. A life which he had mostly spent in the company of a few he held dear. A new family, to replace the one he’d lost. A black hand, skeletal, reaches out to him, grasping, beckoning him into hell.

The pain is still burning as he opens his eyes. Blackness. And the smell of dirt. “This is it”, he thinks, “I’m in hell.” Memories of his time in the tunnels flash into his mind.

Beginning to panic, he lashes out, kicking and punching at the darkness, before realising, with abject horror, that he has been buried alive.

He kicks and kicks at the foot of his cheap plywood coffin. Eventually, causing it to split, and then he works, tirelessly, to claw his way from the earth in which he was buried.

Finally, his hand punches through the turf which had been laid over his grave, and he pulls himself into the light. Well, into the night, but even the dim glow of the moon was brilliant in comparison to the darkness of his grave.

Swearing revenge, he shambles, half dead, out of the cemetery which had been made into his premature home.

Duggee watches as two City Grave diggers grab a hold of Wheeler under the arms and drag him back to the grave he had just emerged from. Looking on in surprise he watches as the two men force him back into the grave and shovel the dirt back on top.

"Says here you are dead mate, don't make us have to bury you again." one of them says, before they stop to light a cigarette each.

Duggee hurries off before they find him on one of their lists and decide to put him in the ground.
