OBIT Organization? Started by: Exxo on Apr 22, '11 19:27

When I got to the login page and saw the obits there, I saw a few dead high-rankers, but upon logging in I had to go pages deep into the OBITs to find them. Is there any way we could organize the OBITs? Maybe allow us to remove MIAs, RIAs, and Durdens from the list of we'd prefer not to see them? While there may not be many non-IA deaths, it would be nice to see them in a list separate to the IAs.

Not really a necessity but it would be nice since few people really care about the OBIT information of RIAs and MIAs. ^_^

Agreed to the nth degree. This was one of my fears when NPMs were introduced - complete loss of significance/accuracy in the 60-second list as well as the obits.

I miss the times when you see a Capo die, it was an actual Capo and not a fake user. The obits are terribly flooded with NPC deaths that even some legitimate deaths are ambiguous. It's sad when we have to start looking at the post count/thread count of the user to decide if it was a real person or not.

So yes Exxo, I think introducing a feature such as this would save a lot of people the headache of flipping through pages of MIAs/RIAs/NPCs. I hope it can be considered.

The obits have become so over-abundant in non-players deaths, I too, think this is a great idea and would love to see it implemented.

Great idea, maybe some kind of filter should be implemented so we could choose what we want to see in obits

Or we could give the Durdens fake rank labels to distinguish. Like... oh it wasn't a real Capo that died. It was just a Crapo.

I think filtering the obits page would be an easy addition to the array of preferences available to the modern MR user. I honestly can't see any "cons" of adding ease and accessibility, but I also tend to be very one-track-minded when it comes to these things and don't spot the problems.

Another suggestion would be, NPMs - and Durdens - simply don't go into the Obits, leaving it solely for actual player accounts.

Report Post Tip

I agree with adding some kind of filter because when you look at the obits and see mademan and capo dying you at first think it's a real person and wonder whats up, then look at the profile and see oh no its just a damn NPM. Personally I dont really care to see all the NPMs and MIAs in the obits theres not really a need to see them all so yea having an OBIT filter would be great.

Having the ability to filter the Obits would be an awesome idea. It's always a pain to try and find an actual player who's unfortunately come upon the list going through the pages and pages of MIA/RIA/Durden/NPM deaths.

Completely agree

I'm going to agree completely to bump this suggestion. There is no bad thing about it, if you wanted to look at the obits normally you could, and it would allow us to see if any real players died if we were gone longer than just the 5 on the front page.

Also for Jerusalem's idea, I don't think we should leave durdens out altogether, the obits is an easy tool for looking for BGs if you don't wanna go through the IDs.

Report Post Tip

Once we get some free time after the major aspects of the GUI are up, we will write in some toggling for the obits to make navigation a tad easier for it.

Report Post Tip

This is a great idea and I'd love to see it applied to the game.  This would definitly make your death more honorable after spending months on it instead of it being over looked due to being to crowded with the RIA's and NPC's.  I agree with encoding a feature that in the "Options" page that allows us to toggle if we want RIA'S and NPC'S in the obits.
