People nowadays in the rap world are kinda hilarious. They all talk about how their gangsters and if they would actually have a gun pulled on them, they would piss their pants. Whatever happened to real rappers who get murdered? |

There is no best Hip Hop artist. There are those who are the best in certain areas, but each of the 'legends' that have produced quality materials have both their strengths and their weaknesses so it's impossible to pick one.
Biggie was insane with the flow and his rhyme schemes, but in terms of actual material he put out, was very limited. He only had 2 albums whilst he was alive, for that reason he can't be crowned the best.
Then you look at artists like 2pac, who made such a massive impact on the music industry and in the consciousness of our society because of the subject matter of the tracks he put out. But in terms of rhyming he was very simplistic. There's only so many times you can rhyme 'hennessy' with 'enemies' and get away with it.
Those are just two examples but I believe that I'm right here. You may have artists who have the best flow or lyrics or rhymes or content or sales or longevity in the game, but there has never been a rapper to come out who was the best of all of those categories. And since what we as listeners like is an individual opinion (ie. it cannot be measured), there will never be a best.
Although, stating your *favourite* rapper is another matter altogether. But in terms of who was the best to ever do it, there isn't anyone you can put forwards, in my opinion. |

The best Hip Hop artist is not a typical rapper or anything, but a bunch of white scene kids from Hollywood...

As Mathilda said, there is really no best. Everybody is best in some aspect of it, and its about who's your favorite, not who's best. Just because they're you're favorite, doesn't mean they are the best.
For me however, the best I've ever heard is Eminem. Yea yea I know typical white kid response, but his flows are great, his beats are even better, and his lyrics are the best I've ever heard. Tupac and Kanye are up there too though. Lately, Lupe Fiasco has blown me away. The guy is just amazing. Timbaland is high on my list too, as is The Game. |
