What does that mean for Fallout, Elder Scrolls and gaming in general?

Well, twitter feeds have already said it looks like down the line will means more exclusive titles for PC and XBOX on a case by case basis. but the truth is it is the next battleground for most companies.   So we won't see an immediate effect but as the PS5 and new XBOX develops will see you having to multi-platform for your favourite titles.

It could however add more resources and development to such companies but as a playstation user myself i will be dissapointed to lose titles and have to PC game more as means upgrade time.

I feel like Microsoft will not push for xbox only exclusives on the bigger titles such as Elder Scrolls and Fallout. I can see them offering a play first before release on other consoles thing. So i don't see to many Xbox exclusives coming from this.

I'm intrigued by Obsidian getting a second shot at Fallout and other big titles like starfield or ES6.

Still kind of funny how while Sony was negotiating for exclusive rights for upcoming Bthesda games, Microsoft just swooped in and pulled a Bruce Wayne.

I think its a great move by Microsoft, they are done with the old "console wars" as they were. Microsoft is moving to a far more subscription based model across nearly their entire range. Take the new xbox as an example, both series s and x are available on xbox all access for a very reasonable price, including *crucially* game pass unlimited. 

So microsoft likely take a little bit of a hit on each console sold, hoever they get users so used to using gamepass and bolster it with top AAA titles (Zenimax Media purchase being a prime example) that users cannot imagine life without it so it becomes a neccessity. Suddenly by making xbox far more affordable than other alternatives and strapping in game pass with it, microsoft have a user hooked up to the drip feed and they bleed them a little each month for guarenteed income rather than a one of bg purchase. Genius strategy really.

PS. I think it will be as said previously, there will be the odd xbox/pc exclusive but mostly it'll be timed exclusives and extra stuff for xbox/pc users over 3rd party consoles.

I wonder if this will expedite development on Starfield and Elder Scrolls VI.

Honestly, I like it. PS folks are up in arms about this, while PS has so many exclusives. Why can't Xbox?

Let's hope Microsoft didn't fuck themselves by purchasing it for a ludicrous amount of money like they did with Minecraft 

A friend at work is freaking out that he may not get to play new Fallout games lol. I doubt they’ll make it exclusive, but if they do I told him he’ll just have to get an Xbox too lol

Not Remaastered... too many remastered and rereleased games around now! Give us a new one, Fallout NV 2!
