| Bentley's Bloody Tribulations | Started by: Dawn_ on Sep 22, '20 20:24 |

The phone woke Dawn up out of a much needed sleep. I was her Uncle Bentley. He told her he did it. He killed her. Frantic she hopped out of the bed. She asked him who? Who did he kill? He told her Adriana, she was going to kill him. She told him to slow down, asked where. He told her at her apartment on West North Street. Dawn knew where the apartment was and told Bentley to just stay there she was on her way. Dawn had never experience the feeling that had come over her body. Her legs were weak and a terrible feeling in the pit of her stomach. The she called Big Moe and told him what Bentley had said and he told her he was on his way. She remembered Don LogenNineFingers giving her the telephone number of Nick_Valentine. She trusted him and knew she could trust Nick_Valentine. He told her if she ever found herself in a situation and needed help to contact Nick_Valentine at that number. She had his number tucked away in her wallet, pulled it out and dialed his number. She was so glad when there was an answer and the gentleman on the other end confirmed he was indeed Nick_Valentine. Dawn knew she was talking really fast but it was so hard trying to gain control of her composure. She just told him that she needed help, that her Uncle Bentley had just shot and killed a very connected woman, that she was headed there now. Nick told her he would met her in the lobby and she told him she would be down in about five minutes. Dawn washed her face, brushed her teeth really fast, threw some jeans all the time wondering how Nick knew where she was, she started to pick up the phone and called him again but thought she really didn’t have that much time. If he wasn’t in the lobby she would just have to call him from Adriana’s apartment it wasn’t that far away. Dawn made her way to the lobby. |

The ring woke Nick up from his slumber. He'd been working late on a case and had drifted off at his desk after a few too many whiskeys. The sharp ring triggered his hangover and he groaned as he stood up reaching for the telephone. It was the woman he'd been assigned to by his new bosses, the reason for his move to the new apartment. A rambling blur of information followed, one he could scarcely comprehend. Something about an uncle shooting a woman he couldn't afford to. This was going to be messy. In the most calming voice his splitting headache could allow, he tried to reassure her as best as he could. Holstering his revolver, he stumbled back, tripping over an empty bottle before finally finding his footing. Draping his trench-coat over his shoulder and his fedora over his head, Nick stuffed his badge in his pocket and stepped out the door. His metallic fingers deftly pulled out a cigarette from the pack as he squeezed through the closing doors of the elevator. "The lobby, son. No stops." He whispered to the attendant in a voice that brooked no arguments. As the elevator moved, the cigarette, now lit, found its way to his lips. Checking his reflection in the mirror, he straightened his tie and half-tucked his shirt, before winking at his reflection and stepping out amidst a big plume of smoke. His eyes scrunched a bit at the sudden glare of lights, but adjusted quickly, scanning the bustling lobby in search of his client. They found a tired and bedraggled yet beautiful young woman. Cautiously he made his way over, the cigarette clenched delicately between metallic fingers, left a tell tale trail of smoke in his wake. "Hell of a wake up call Doll." He offered a smile by way of greeting as he took a quick puff. "Come on then, no time to lose. We'll talk over the specifics on the way over. You got a car or am I hailing a cab?" |

Dawn turned around to the most intimidating looking man she had ever seen. He looked at her with full intensity, like he was looking right through her soul or something. Yet there was tenderness when he placed his hand on her shoulder. Dawn told him she had a car, had already asked the doorman to fetch it, and then asked if he wouldn’t mind driving. Looking at the shaken state she was in he agreed. On the drive there she quickly explained that her Uncle Bentley had just met this women Adriana but became very smitten with her rather fast. Dawn didn’t know much about the women or why her Uncle Bentley would think she tried to kill him. She explained that Bentley had been in the Mob a long time and she knew he had a few enemies but he hadn’t been really active in the life for a long time. Dawn told Nick_Valentine to make a right turn right in front of the building. As the turn across the street she could see her Uncle Bentley and Big Moe sitting in the car and told Nick to make a U-turn and park behind it. Big Moe saw us pulling up and came over and hopped in the back seat. He looked at Nick and Dawn quickly introduces them. Big Moe told them it was bad. That Bentley had shot and killed a woman inside in the bedroom. He said he had called some cleaners and they were on their way. He then asked Dawn and Nick how they should depose of the body, that according to Bentley this was going to be big trouble. Dawn looked at Nick. |

Watching the woman struggling to keep her composure, all shaken up, Nick didn't have the heart to complain about his hangover. He took the drivers and sped off as per her instructions, weaving in and out of traffic, wincing every time a horn blared on the street. Her uncle's story seemed as old as time, an ageing man infatuated by a young diva who grew bored of him and sought an out only for him to be unwilling to handle rejection maturely, reacting in an ill-advised yet fatal fit of rage. Of course, her uncle may truly have been acting in self-defence, but to the cynical Valentine, it seemed unlikely. As they turned a corner and crept up to their destination, the car rolling to a stop, Nick felt his stomach churn with unease. Something about this incident didn't sit right with him. A beast of a man, entered their car and Nick subconsciously reached for his revolver, willing to err on the side of caution. Fortunately, Dawn introduced him as a trusted aide and Nick relaxed a bit as the man went over the details. With a contemplative sigh, he stepped out of the car and gestured for his companions to follow. "We'll get to the body in a minute, but first," Pausing to turn to Dawn he explained. "You need to get your uncle's gun and get rid of it once we leave. Tell him that if questioned, he must claim that he reported it stolen a week prior, I'll forge the report on my end and cover our bases." "Big man!" He said, tapping Moe on the chest with his metallic fist, "While she does that, how about you and I introduce ourselves to the unfortunate young woman...or whatever is left of her." Live fast, die young, leave a beautiful corpse. Shaking his head in disapproval, Nick accompanied Moe into the building. He was led up into the bedroom and immediately the stench of blood and brains assaulted his nose. Scrunching his face, Nick let his instincts take over. Obvious signs of struggle, an exit wound on the back of the head, spent shell casing resting by the bed and a bullet lodged into the side of an ornate desk. "Yeah, looks like the old man made quite the mess. Good thing that you called up some cleaners. Remember to remind them to get rid of that desk too. The rug's ruined too, but you can use it to wrap up the body and stuff it in the trunk of our car. I know a good dumping spot a few miles north." Pausing to glance at the wreckage a last time he nodded to Moe, hoping the man would take care of the basics. As he calmly made his way down the stairs, a cigarette found its way to his lips. He emerged out once again, eager to talk to the perpetrator and see what the culprit had to say for himself. |

Dawn didn’t even attempt to go into the apartment with Big Moe and Nick_Valentine. She knew it was probably a bad scene and didn’t want to subject herself to that. Instead she went to the car where her Uncle was sitting to ask him about the whereabouts of the gun he use. Bentley was still quite shaken but Dawn assured him that things will be alright. She was sitting in the back with Bentley when a few minutes later Nick arrived and sat in the front passenger seat. Dawn quickly introduced Bentley to Nick tell him he works for the Chicago Police Department but also works for Don LogenNineFingers and was there to help him. Nick turned to Bentley and asks him exactly what happened. By this time Bentley had gained his composure, thanked Nick for his help. The woman’s name is Adriana. I have known her for years but never perused any romantic ties until recently. We dated a few times and enjoyed each other company. She set me up; someone had sent her to kill me. We were enjoying a lovely evening. Had shared a wonderful dinner and she invited me back to her place. We sat and talk, had a couple more drinks and it got a little hot and heavy. But the strange thing about it is that she kept excusing herself to go to the bathroom. At first I thought it was just the alcohol making her have to pee. But when she would come back her demeanor would change, she seemed edgy. So I excused myself saying I had to make that trip also. I looked around the bathroom, in the bath tub and everything but didn’t see anything. Then my attention was drawn to the hamper. Sure enough she had a loaded pistol just lying on top of the clothes so I just removed the bullets from the chamber. Bentley took out a cigarette and Nick lit it for him. He took a few drags from it and continued talking. We made our way to her bedroom and she excused herself to go to the bathroom again. I was sitting on the edge of the bed when she came out in beautiful lingerie. Though the lace top I could see the gun in her right hand. She said “I’m sorry, this is just business” pointed the gun at me and fires. When it misfired I hopped up, grabbed the gun, knock that bitch to the floor, but the bullets back in the chamber, told her she should learn how to handle her business better and fired three shots one hitting her dead in the forehead. I called Dawn from her phone and when she told me she was on her way I just came downstairs and waited in the car. Nick then asked Bentley why he thought it was a set up. Dawn can explain more about my past to you but let’s just say I’ve been in the life a very long time and have made some enemies along the way. Adriana has also been in the life a long time and well connected. This is far from over. Dawn saw the cleaners discreetly entering the apartment building while Bentley was talking to Nick. Big Moe came over to let Nick know the cleaners were just about finished cleaning the crime scene and how did he want to proceed from there. When he told Moe that had to dispose of the body, Bentley told them no. He told them he wanted it left there so the son of bitches that set her up to do this would find it. It would cause enough noise that he would eventually find out who was behind this. Nick realized this wasn’t what he thought. The woman Adriana definitely had an agenda. It was now about protecting Bentley and finding out who was behind this. Moe stood clear of Nick's metallic fist and again asked him how he wanted to proceed. |

"I can't tell what is worse," Nick tossed the rapidly diminishing cigarette aside and turned to face Bentley. "Your luck or your lies." Scratching his stubble he cursed himself for picking up the call and getting involved in this mess. His intuition screamed at him to walk away from this disaster, but his cold amber gaze found Dawn's and he relented reluctantly. "You're gonna have to practice that story better, if you want to pass it off in front of a jury which is exactly what's going to happen if you decide to leave that body in there long enough for my colleagues in the department to find out." He paused briefly, pondering about how best to lend credibility to the man's story. "We can't tell the cops you took the bullet out her gun for they'll wonder why you didn't just call them in." Turning towards Moe he continued calmly. "I need you to go back to the bedroom, put on some gloves, and use the murder weapon to fire a couple of shots into the bed to make it look like she fired at you first. Go, quickly." Once Moe disappeared from view, out of intervention range, Nick whispered, "I'm sorry Bentley." and spun around, knocking his fist into Bentley's nose, his metallic knuckles cracking the bone with ease. "We need to give you some defensive wounds." As the man howled in pain, Nick shook him to gain his attention. "I need you to listen to me very carefully." In a clear but confident tone he explained. "You need to drive your car to the closest hospital and get admitted for treatment. Inform the hospital staff to call Dawn, your lawyer and the police. Once they've all arrived you tell the cop that Adriana shot at you, when you struggled, she hit you in the nose with the butt of her gun. In the chaos you accidentally shot her in the head. Scared by the way her body was twitching you shot her two more times." Turning his attention to Dawn he continued. "I'll go to the station and make sure they send a rookie who will be intimidated by his lawyer and not take him into custody. Once he's sped off to investigate the crime scene and called in backup, I'll come over pick you guys up and stash you in a safehouse on the South Side, until we can figure out how to go ahead. Alright?" |

Bentley pulled his handkerchief out of his pocket and held it to his nose. Who in the fuck is this guy ? as he looked at Dawn. I am not going to admit to a mother fucking thing. I would be dead before I had the first hearing. I am not going to confess to jack shit, self dense or anything like that. Just because I had dinner with the bitch doesn’t mean I killed her. I’ve killed more connected people than her and not going to start confessing to shit now or hiding in a fucking safe house. The bitch talked too much got herself killed. Those low life fuckers at the Chicago Police Department are probably in on it. Now if you are not going to help protect me from those mother fucking hounds and help me find out who set me up you can get the fuck out of my car. Bentley then turned to Big Moe. But that bitch in the bed and stage it like a hit job. If anyone one comes at me they better have the proof or they can just kiss my ass. |

He gestured for Dawn to follow him out of the car. Once they were out of earshot, he explained. "Look, the way things stand, it's not looking good for your uncle. Someone put a hit on him. Till we can find out who it was he needs to lie low. That means, no trouble with the cops, no press conferences, no public promises of retaliation." He hated men too proud to see they'd fucked up. If this English bloke didn't swallow his pride and think rationally, he'd be facing a war on two fronts. "He has to be smart about this, pick his battles. Stay ahead of his enemies. That means tying off loose ends before they can spiral out of control. If he doesn't call this in and confess to self-defence, they can pin this murder on him and open up an investigation into a series of past crimes. Better to let sleeping horses lie." Knowing his advice could likely go unheeded, he sighed and stared off into the middle distance. "That's my professional advice, but if you intend to follow your uncle along this foolish path, I guess I have no choice to tag along. Tell me what you need me to do." Nick didn't have much of a choice anyway. He'd been ordered to watch out for this women by people he couldn't afford to disappoint. Heck, even if the threat did not loom over his shoulder, he was still not willing to lose someone on his watch. Not this time, not again. Never again. |

Dawn apologized to Nick_Valentine for Bentley’s outburst. Well the hit in the nose didn’t help. She told Nick that Bentley isn’t going to do down like that. He just needed a little time to sort it all out. Someone within the Chicago Police Department on his side would really help him out. But no way was he going to confess to anything. She explained that Bentley has a history in the Mob and was well respected. With a little help he will find out who’s behind this and take care of things. What I need you to do is please just try and see this Bentley’s way. He trusted the cleaners to do a good job, they have cleaned crime scenes for him a number of times. Investigators will find nothing to hook Bentley to the murder. Like he says just because he had dinner with her doesn’t mean he killed her. He will get people to portray Adriana as a woman who had it coming. He’s not going to lay low when he didn’t commit the crime. The mere fact they had to send a woman to do their dirty work speaks volumes for the caliber of men they are. |

"It's your funeral doll, I'm just a passenger." He raised his hands and shrugged in agreement as he made his way into the house to check on the cleaners. Giving a few pointers to the lads, he pulled Moe to a side and slipped him his card in case of any unexpected trouble. Once outside he returned to the woman once again. "I'll get back to the station and see if I can shake something loose. Meanwhile, see if you can keep his temper on ice eh?" He said, nudging her playfully with his elbow as he nodded towards a clearly still pissed off Bentley. Walking back to Dawn's car, he looked over his shoulder and said, "I'll drop the car off at your apartment and take a cab from there. Will let you know once I've found something worthwhile. But you gotta remember to watch out." Eyeing the other car suspiciously, he opened the driver's side door. "There's something off about this whole thing. Something he's not telling you. Be careful, and call me at the first sign of trouble." With a parting nod, he slid into the comforting embrace of the soft leather seat and sped off leaving a trail of questions unanswered. |

Dawn arrived back at their apartment building. After a few shots Bentley dozed off on the couch. She didn't dare wake him up and tell him to get in the bed. She just threw a blanket over him. She went down to her apartment and dialed Alexander-Hamilton. A sleepy Alexander answer the phone and when he heard Dawn's voice he knew that something had happened for her to be calling him this early even though he knew she was an early riser. When Dawn started telling Alexander what happened all she could hear him saying was Damn, Damn. He told her try to get some rest he was going to head to the airport try to get the first flight out and would be there as soon as possible. |

Hamilton was sitting on his balcony at 3 in the morning and he was up thinking about his life. The ups and downs and the things he has done to accumulate his wealth. Then in the background he heard his phone ring, he shook his head and slowly moved towards the phone. In the darkness he stubbed his toe and said a few words that he would never say in front of a woman or in a church. He answered the phone and he immediately recognized the voice on the other end. It was Dawn and she sounded concerned but she didn't give him any details as she spoke over the phone she was careful that way. She did reveal the fact that she was worried and that caused him to worry about her. She expressed that she wasn't sure what she needed but she knew he could help. Hamilton respected Dawn and wanted to help but he knew that in order to help her he needed to get more information which meant catching a flight out there. He knew then that she would be able to free elaborate and then he might be able to assist her. He went to his bedroom and sat on his bed for a hot minute that turned out to be a half hour. He stood up and walked into shower. The hot water felt good on his skin. It was what he needed to wake up from his half hour power nap. He got dressed in a dark blue suit with a white shirt and dark blue socks to match his suit then he put on his white winged tipped shoes. He packed three days of close and his two colt 45's. He made a call to purchase a flight but the next flight was two weeks out so he called the train station and sure enough they had a train leaving in four hours. Then he heard a knock on his door. It was Ms. Pepper and Ginger they were there as his morning security. He briefed them and they smiled as they heard about Dawn_ from George and the guys, they had told them that Hamilton tends to drop his scheduled plans to rush to Dawn's aid. Ginger told Ms. Pepper that she will go back and pack for the both of them and they would attend this trip with him. Hours later they were aboard the train. They ride the train for five hours, once in the cold city they unboarded the train. Hamilton held a taxi and the three of them finally arrived at Dawn's apartment. |

Dawn answered the door she welcomed them in. She hugged Alexander-Hamilton and told Ginger and Ms. Pepper that it was nice to see them again. Dawn had met them briefly at Alexander’s apartment complex. Dawn told them to make themselves comfortable and pointed to the guest bedroom if they needed to freshen up. As the ladies headed to the bedroom she told Alexander to fix himself a drink if he wanted some fresh lemonade it was in the fridge then come out on the balcony. Alexander opted for the drink and stepped out on the balcony. As soon as he sat down across from Dawn she started pouring it out. She tried to kill him Alexander. Someone set her up and wants him dead. This is nothing about a woman scorned, they dated a few times. I just can’t understand why they just won’t leave him alone. Twenty three years, paid his dues, the Godfather gives him his blessings to retire and they are still trying to drag him back into active duty. Dawn stood up and leaned against the balcony. Alexander I’m scared. When they find out she is dead he is going to be the first person they think about. But you know by the time they find her Bentley will have word on the streets he didn’t have shit to do with. Let’s not forget they were the ones who set it up and Adriana was known for having loose lips. They don’t know if Bentley knows anything or not. That’s going to give Bentley a little time. Dawn found herself pacing. She was trying to get everything out before the girls return. Right now in the state she was in she didn’t trust anyone but Alexander. Just then Ginger and Ms Pepper stepped out on the patio. Dawn asked if anyone was hungry they were welcome to some cold cuts tray she ordered from the deli with all kinds of meats, cheese, breads and the whole sandwich deal. |

When they arrived and made it up to Dawn’s apartment it was Dawn who opened the door. She gave Hamilton a hug and then greeted Ginger and Ms. Pepper. Dawn had met the two ladies before with several other members of his female security team. Hamilton knew from the way she hugged him that she was under duress. He wanted to know what was going on. Ms. Pepper and Ginger decided to freshen up and give them a minute to talk. Dawn told Hamilton if he wanted a drink that he could help himself and that there was lemonade in the fridge. Hamilton helped himself to the whiskey then joined her on the balcony. He sat across from her and poured them both a double shot. He sat back in his chair as he picked up his glass. He looked up at Dawn, she was looking out from the balcony and started talking but she wasn’t clear on what was going on. She was talking fast trying to explain. He listened as she was doing the best she could at that moment to get out what she could to hopefully relieve a bit of her stress. When she said she was scared he immediately felt anger overwhelm his very being. His body tensed with a rage to defend her. Yet he didn’t know yet against whom. He didn’t know whom her uncle worked for but he knew from the way he carried himself and the way that they talked that her uncle was a connected man. He was real old school, tough, a man that was willing to get deep into the nitty gritty and come out with the prize. Hamilton watched as she started pacing back and forth talking he knew that whoever it was they didn’t have all the information on Bentley or the whereabouts of the woman. They didn’t know if Bentley was back in the business. Hamilton didn’t know who this, they Dawn was speaking of. He knew at some point Dawn would give him more details once she is able to get some rest. That would be his first act in helping her. Before he could utter a word they were Joined by Pepper and Ginger and on cue Dawn became a host telling the ladies that she ordered food and it would be there shortly. Pepper smiled and asked if there was a store nearby the ladies needed to make a purchase. Hamilton looked at them and laughed as he handed them some walking around cash. They took it even though they had money on them. Hamilton looked at Dawn and told her that she needed rest, the ladies could go to the store and he would ensure that the food is put away and the delivery boy given a nice tip. |

Dawn told Alexander-Hamilton that she would try to get some rest but she had to check on Bentley. She had taken his phone off the hook. Ginger and Ms Pepper hung out on Dawn’s patio and waited for them to get back. When they arrived at Bentley’s apartment he was still snoring on the couch. Alexander told Dawn not to wake him that he would talk to him later. Dawn told Alexander she was going to stay there and rest, she wanted to be there when Bentley woke up. She asked Alexander to please lock up her apartment. He could just lock it from the inside and just close the door. He told her he would and for her to try and get some rest and call him when Bentley woke up. |

Hamilton looked at Dawn_ and smiled as she was going to get some rest. He knew that Bentley was armed and had hardware tucked away in his apartment. He told Dawn that he would lock up her apartment and that he and his two new pals would be staying in the manor he wrote the apartment number and the phone number. He checked to see if she had her key and Dawn looked at him and shook her head chuckling as she replied it’s called Bentley’s Manor. Hamilton then knew yeah he needed rest also. As he returned to Dawn's apartment he met with the delivery boy who was escorted by manor security. The girls answered the door as Hamilton was paying for the food. They took the food from the young man and security walked back to the lobby with the young man. They ate a little of the food and Ginger put the food away in the fridge and wiped down the table. Hamilton washed and dried the dishes while Pepper cleaned the patio and living room. They left the place clean and collected their bags. Hamilton locked the door from the inside just as Dawn requested. Hamilton followed Pepper to her three bedroom apartment in the manor. When they walked in she explained that her older brother left her the joint and the rent had been paid for the next two years. She gave Hamilton the master bedroom as Ginger took a room and Pepper took the other bedroom. Hamilton turned around as the ladies told him they were going to the store to get personal items. Hamilton started to unpack he placed one of his pistols on each night stand bed to the bed. Then he hung his clothes up in the closet and then took a nap. He knew that Dawn would call him when she was well rested and ready to talk to him face to face. He would leave the security in the apartment so that Dawn could speak freely. |

Dawn didn’t know how long she slept but she woke up to voices in Bentley’s conference room and the smell of meat grilling from the balcony. She walked in to see Big Moe, Roots and a few others talking with Bentley. Dawn went a poured herself a glass of apple pie moonshine and sat down with them. Things were calm until Dawn mentioned she was going to meet with Nick_Valentine. Bentley started to off again about the punch in the nose and Moe had to mention how the Nick tapped him in the chest with his mother fucking iron fist. Dawn tried to smooth it over and told them the hell with them she trusted him. Moe then agreed with Dawn that he might be cool and to their advantage to have someone on the inside. Big Moe had paid someone hire Roscoe on the security team at Adriana’s apartment building. He was going to let us know as soon as the found the body and hear what was being said. She called Alexander-Hamilton, he came and joined them. Bentley was going over those he thought were involved, already had informants out on the streets. Shortly after he arrived she excused herself, told them they could talk , she was going to lie back down. About ten o’clock that night the phone rang. It was Roscoe telling them they had discovered the body. He said so far it was just the routine homicide investigation. The next morning the headline of newspaper read. Adriana Lark, Mafia mistress found murdered.Little details were mentioned just that it was under investigation. Dawn phoned Nick_Valentine to see what he had heard. |

Hamilton was up early, he was on his morning run, the run was to clear his mind as he wondered why he was brought here, Dawn had soldiers that could help, Bentley was old school and had contacts. The thoughts that occupied his mind the most was that Dawn didn’t know much about him other than he moved weight, he was quick witted and light on his feet. Hamilton never exposed his dark side and ensured that things like that never got out. He had just finished his daily five mile run. He loved the feeling of being fit and the look of his physique. He stepped back into the apartment when the phone rang. It was Dawn_ She asked him to come down and speak with her Uncle and some of the muscle that has gathered to help her uncle. He told her he would be down soon but wanted to shower and get dressed. After his shave and shower, he dressed in a dark gray suit with a light blue shirt and dark blue shoes. When he arrived Moe and Bentley greeted him. Dawn was asleep and the men were sitting around talking. Hamilton was able to put a few pieces of the events together but Dawn was the key to his being there Bentley needed to gather his thoughts and form his plan. Maybe that’s why he was there. There were hitters in the room as far as their skills only Bentley and Dawn knew how skilled they were. |

As Dawn was getting dress she heard the phone in Bentley’s conference room ringing it seemed like every five minutes. She walked into the kitchen and grabs a slice of bacon off the platter Bentley had on the stove. He snapped at her to get a plate but she just sat down munching on the bacon and again picked up the morning paper. Bentley saw her looking at the headlines and told her it was as sad thing that someone had killed Adriana Bentley saw the puzzled looked on Dawn’s face then told her “Once a bullet leaves that gun, you never talk about it.” She understood exactly what he meant. No one knew what happened was herself, Big Moe, Roscoe, Alexander-Hamilton and Nick_Valentine. Dawn had called LogenNineFingers, briefly spoke to him and he was going be arriving at Bentley's apartment a littler later. Bentley’s telephone kept ringing. The word had spread really fast that Bentley was looking for the person who killed her. So much word was on the streets was she probably deserved it, she had plenty of enemies. Consensus was it wasn’t a Mob hit. She had burned a lot of bridges but none wanted her dead. Bentley received a telephone called from one of his lawyers Michael Rubinstein. He asked Bentley if he remember Joseph and Edward Blair. Bentley told him yes they were the brothers that were upset about Bentley not selling some properties in downtown Chicago and some land in Las Vegas. He told Bentley their company name was Blair, Bonner & Company with an office in the Marshall Field Building at 135 South LaSalle Street. He had seen Adriana there a number of times, that maybe she had pissed them off and they wanted her dead. Bentley asked Michael to see if he would get any of her bank records Bentley knew that @Alexander had some good contacts out there on the streets. He needed someone with Alexander’s demeanor to obtain information in that corporate environment if needed. Maybe he would asked the nose punching Nick_Valentine to see what he could find out. He turned to Dawn and said by the way where is he? Dawn told him she was expecting to hear from him sometime soon. She also told him the LogenNineFingers would come by later today. If they were behind Adriana trying to kill him someone would know something. Adriana was the type to keep shit to herself. |

Dawn turned to Bentley and asked what do you mean Adriana was the type to keep shit to herself? Bentley started to laugh oh I apologize I meant wasn't the type to, she runs her mouth all the time. I told her I don't discuss family business and hinted maybe she should do the same to no avail. Just about everything we did was on the down low as Big Moe would say. Damn I wonder who got her killed. |
