So, we have the ability to tip a post, lets us express our appreciation for what is written, you can even go so far to drop the writter a line expressing your wonder and awe at what they have written. However, we have no way to express displeasure other than responding to the post. Problem with that is some folks arent comfortable with posting or responding to an established post. Sure you could send the person a mail, but its a bit harsh to log in to Mafia and be greeted with a dozen 'hey bud your post is shit' mails. 

Soooo, i present to you the down vote, whereby you can click a button and it chalks up a -1. What does this -1 do I hear you ask, well it does fuck all, other than let the writter know that his/her last endeavour was unappreciated. Why does it do nothing? Because too many folks here are cunts and would take great delight at down voting someones posts just to fuck with their character, seriously, if old Shakey-Spear himself had played MR, he'd have given up writing plays altogether.  Sure it can still be gamed, and folks can gang up on someone to down vote a post, but I believe that is still important for the future historians who like to read back over old posts to get a feel for how things were under such and such a regime. 

The down votes should be anonymous, no identifiers, however Izzy should be able to see who down voted in cases where obvious trolling is taking place.

What about when it comes to topics like explanations on take downs? Some people would down vote simply because they died or were on the receiving end, rather than how well typed up the topic was.

Thats fine, again as it has zero impact all it would show is the public mood at the time. If we take SammyNoShoes recent takedown, the people who died actually came to his post and congratulated him, so its not a foregone conclusion. But yes, it is more likely, which is why it doesn't effect or affect anything character wise. Also, i find when people are unhappy with something like their character dying, they do tend to be more Vocal. However, the upswing is if I take out a crew with 20 members, post my reasons and 50 people downvote it, i know it was a popular move in general.

JaxEverett That only works when you are upvoting a post. If i dont like your post i'm not going to tip you even 20k, as it affects your exp I believe the more people who tip you. This will allow people to genuinely 'voice' their dislike of a post or a story without fear of recrimination.

Sounds like a good idea, a simple -1 is far better than replying in a thread with hurtful words...

I like this idea, sometimes i think just showing how many people are not in favor of something without each of them having to individually reply would be a good addition.
