Johnny brought his hands closer together from the deep pockets of his black leather trench coat. The furry insides giving him warmth while he stood out in the cold and waited for the next customer to come up. He pulled a cigarette from inside his coat and lit it with the plain metal zippo he had, taking a deep drag of the temporary warmth the cigarette provided him. Two of his hired goons came around the corner, leading a wirey looking man who kept twitching and checking corners that weren't even there.
The group of men converged on one another, lighting cigarettes and adding to the drifting cloud of vapor and smoke that was rising up above the streetlights. "Hey, Johnny....got someone looking for some of those barbs, boss." Johnny looked to the thin man, disgust crossing his face before he held up a hand. "How much you got?" Johnny said, the words shot towards the man who took two steps back. "Uh...uh....I was just looking for a couple...just to get me by til I get paid Friday." The two big goons turned on the man, ready to earn their pay with blood. Johnny held up a hand and gave a tight whistle, "None of that now. Here...I can give you some, on the house. I will take the loss if you can get me information. Anything. Nothing that could get you killed, but stuff I won't hear from the other side of town, capiche? So here....here's you a little something, something....run along and find me or my guys if you hears anything we might be finding interesting." The little scamp broke loose from the men's grasp as they let go and he fell to Johnny's feet. He came up, his hands reaching out for the bag in Johnny's hand. "You got it, uh...whats your name again? Mr. Burtolini? Right? Yeah...yeah, Burtolini. I will make sure everyone hears of yous...yous a good man, sir. Thank you." With that, he escaped into the darkened alleys, vanishing into the shadowy maze of streets and alleys that made up the greater parts of Chicago...and the lesser parts.
