Geek was laying in bed reading his favorite comic book series. It may have been the second or third... or 15th time reading the same series, but every single time it never let him down. He enjoyed his heroes, their fights, their failures, their victories. It made him have hope for the future every time. He smiled as he turned the page. As he turned the page he looked outside for a split second. It was starting to look dark. He shrugged and kept reading. Then a sudden pit formed in his stomach, he through the comic book to his side, and looked at the clock next to his bed.

"I'm late! Oh shit!"

He jumped out of bed, began to quickly get dressed. He had his bag already packed for the meeting. It had everything he needed inside. Thank god for that preparation at least. This didn't change the fact of the matter at hand though. He was super late, again, for the big meeting. The crew was going to be super pissed this time. He finished getting dressed, threw the backpack over his shoulder, and sprinted downstairs. He grabbed his helmet and reflective vest, quickly putting them on, and then ran out of the house.

He jumped onto his bike, turned on the front and rear lights, and furiously began peddling. As he sped passed one block, then the next, and the next. He started to worry. He wasn't sure if he would make it in time. He wasn't sure if the crew could forgive him this time. He saw the house ahead, there were a few cars parked on the street, a dead giveaway that he was really late.

He threw the bike down in the front lawn, sprinted to the door, and knocked. An older lady answered the door, smiled, and told Geek that they were upstairs, waiting for him. He smiled, then ran up the stairs, he opened the door to the meeting, and almost completely out of breath he tried to speak.

"I'm so sorry everyone. I'm super late, I hope I'm not too late. Is Nerd here yet or did I at least beat her!"

Geek smiled and took his usual seat, getting himself ready for the adventure ahead.

After having had a full day of fun at the house with some great friends Geek decided it was time to head home. He left the house saying his final goodbyes, got back onto his bike, and was home in minutes. He ate a quick dinner, before continuing up to his room. He jumped backwards into his bed, let out a long sigh, and began to close his eyes. 

As he was about to drift to sleep he heard a loud bang outside. It sounded like a gunshot. It sounded like just outside of his window. He got on the ground and crawled to the window. Slowly his lifted the curtain. Slowly he peeked out onto the street.

He didn't spot anyone, there was no sign of anyone actually, he wasn't sure what happened, but it sure was loud. He grinned to himself, before climbing back into bed.
