So I just finished watching the last US Presidential Debate.  I thought it was a relatively good debate.  I thought the moderated did a decent job and I think we finally got to hear some specifics from each candidate.  I feel like two narratives went down the drain: 1) Biden was able to prove he could stand there for 90 minutes and remain cogitative in his statements (yeah it was obvious he couldn't come up with Kim Jong-Un's name but that is relatively minor thing) 2) Trump is not evil incarnate.   While it may seem a wash, I think Trump's comes out slightly better in that deal and as such you will see a narrowing in the polling.

I thought there were several examples of Trump using hyperbole that will be fact checked as false (i.e. $100 trillion cost to GND) and several examples of falsehoods proclaimed by Biden that will not be examined or will simply be glossed over (the largest of which was his claimed that not one American lost their private health insurance from the ACA... some of us are old enough to remember the cancellation letters we received informing us that we could no longer keep our private plans).

One thing on a personal note.  I have been examining Biden's campaign site and I have many friends that have been telling me that it is all PR stuff and that I should focus on what Biden is saying in his speeches.  Well I think the debate highlighted that it is more than just PR and that Biden does plan to transition towards those things.  Trump was right when he pointed out how big of a deal Biden's statement of being against fracking and wanting to transition away from it was.  I think it will cause the polls to shrink to within the margin of error in swing states like PA.

It sure looks to be close going into the final week. I was surprised myself by the result of the 2016 election, but one would have to think if the Chinese have any hackers, they will be supporting Biden, while the Russian ones will be supporting Biden. He's old school. Putin knows he can control US.

I think the ability to mute both candidates helped with the debate and interruptions. The first was a farce.

I wish they would go back to the old way debates that were much more cordial. Wether or not you are R or D if you have to agree these debates are a shitshow.

thisi debate went much better for both parties this time around. They both sounded semi competent without seeming too bad either way.

For me personally, it did look like Trump came out slightly ahead of Biden this debate. It went so much better than the first debate and better than the VP debate lol.

Very excited to be done and done with the election though.

The mic muting definitely helped out and this debate was a lot more civil than the past one. Still, I can't wait for the election to be over already...

Anyways, it didn't matter how the debate went. President Trump is winning this again in a couple of weeks. The left just has plan for anything and will say whatever to win. For example, you cannot just say you're getting rid of fossil fuels. We cannot just conform to another form of energy by just saying it. Along with that, where is the money going to come from? Molecularly, it is the most cheapest option out of all forms of energy.

I don't think that's necessarily true, Alexei. Costs for renewable energy production have been almost constantly trending down, especially as the technological infrastructure has developed to allow for a greater shift in the energy industry.

The world oil reserves supply is only going to last approximately 47 years, so why not shift to alternative sources (or, renewable)?

Even the U.S. Navy has seen an incentive in shifting away from fossil fuels, reaching their 50% renewable energy consumption goal in 2015, 5 years ahead of what they had planned to reach in 2020. Not only did this increase force longevity, but it also increased force lethality and capability.

Therefore, I think it's wrong to say that these shifts can not happen. If the U.S. Navy can make changes to accommodate for a better future, why should the rest of the country hold off on it? It's not about totally getting rid of fossil fuels, but it definitely is about making an industry-wide shift for a long-term beneficial result. The only reason it happens slower on a national level are immediate implementation costs and the huge lobbying arm of the fossil fuels industry, whereas the change in the U.S. Navy occurred far faster due to is relatively higher insulation from special interests.

Didn't watch the debate. Didn't need to. I only vote based off who would win in a fight. Which is why I voted Hillary last election and will be voting for Jesse Ventura this year.

The truth is I have only really followed the whole presidential campaign via papers in UK fact-checking what is said at debates and on the road, and the number of lies by both sides makes me wonder if either should be in politics.    It was as if they never knew their own policies, how it would affect people, and the real time frame.

Added to the George incident with Biden, made me a bit concerned as a brit whoever wins.

Just like last time - it is time to pick between shit & shit. I hope Trump pulls through.

Watched bits and pieces after the fact. Both did far better than before. As a fiscal conservative and social moderate, I find it hard to vote for Biden. Trump would not have been my top pick for the Republican Party, but he's not nearly as evil as some make him out to be.
