A young girl skips out on to the street corner  and clears her throat to get the attention of those few who milled the streets around her.  Back in Sicily when I was a young child at the orphanage we played street games. I am little homesick so I thought maybe we could play a street game.  Seeing a few pedestrians pause and listen to her she continued. 

We use to play this game called trivia roundabout. How it worked is one of us started it with a trivia question related to Sicily or Italy. This is why the nuns allowed us to play our game, the trivia was not frivolous or idle. She smirked slightly. Had the nuns known we were placing bets and passing cash around they would  have beat us with their yard sticks for sure.

Any ways enough nostalgia of my youth on the orphanage let me explain this simple game. She waved  her left hand in front of her dismissing her memories.

So how this street game works is this way .

Starting person that is me. Rosalia points a finger at herself and smiles dryly. Will give the first trivia question and how about we keep it like us kids did at the orphanage under one topic. She pauses and thinks a moment chewing her bottom lip. I think Mafia is most appropriate.  She nods her head agreeing with herself.

So, I will give the first trivia question and the person who answers  it correctly first  will get 1 credit.

Then  this person has to give a related trivia question for someone else to answer. The question  is correctly and the credit gets passed to the first correct answer.

Let's see how far the credit goes in this roundabout.

What does Goomba (dialect variation Goombah) mean in Italian?

Goombah is an american-italian slang for close friend, which I believe derives from the term cumpari.

Not to get confused with Goomah, which stands for side-chick or mistresses.

The young girls face lights up as she hears someone from the crowd shout the answer over the hub of various street noises.

Germanicus was a newcomer to these lands, century and even millennia having recently traveled across space in time to 1930s American from Ancient Rome (See Street Party).

Having recently learned English from the classical Latin tongue he begins to speak.

"Dear Tony, asking for a friend, are goombah and goomah mutually exclusive?"

Tony_Alacchi was born in Sicily before moving to North America. He had seen the italian americans slowly change the dialects as the years went by.

Tony heard a question and answered.

Germanicus, both are almost similar but both used in two very different contexts. Gommah is how you'd talk with your friends about the side lady. whereas Goombah isn't commonly used other than by the mafia. non-mafia would use terms such as Cumpari or most common Paesano.

Tony continued with the mafia related trivia and asked as follows:

Roughly translated to English, la cosa nostra means?

Translates to “ our thing”

Hmm well it looks as if Tony may have stalled out the round about and ran off with the credit. What a cad to ruin the fun like that.
