NPMs On/Off 60 Sec List Started by: Quackinator on May 12, '11 20:22

I don't know if this is something that's already planned or not but I figured I'd make a post about it in case it's not something that's been considered. I was thinking that maybe it might be a nice idea to be able to have the option to enable seeing NPMs in the 60 second list if you'd like to and if not, well you can turn the option off and only see the real players online.

I believe it'd be a nice feature for those who want to be able to view them and for those who'd rather not see them cluttering up the list.

Aye, it's in the works, I believe.

Isn't this simply hiding the issue that they're having an entirely detrimental influence? The phrase ignorance is bliss springs to mind.

Report Post Tip

They're not having a detrimental influence and I believe the admins are tired of hearing about the issue, so they tried to do something to sate the users complaining endlessly about everything.

Report Post Tip

To be honest, I consider you a moron and thus your opinion isn't worth a shit to me.

I couldn't care less if they don't like hearing about it and surely the fact that numerous people continue to be disgruntled proves it to be a serious issue.

Who's complaining endlessly about everything, how can you actually qualify such wildly inaccurate statements?

Report Post Tip

A moron, eh? Have you even looked at Divinelunacy lately? The last day or two, people have been raging about the NPM issue. If you paid attention to anything, other than yourself, you would notice what's going on.

Report Post Tip

Izzy said he would have a toggle switch for NPMs coded in after the new GUI is launched

Phreaking_Panda, I think "the users endlessly complaining about everything" is a rather extreme. I think that numerous people, myself included, have expressed serious concerns about NPMs and have been trying to discuss either removing them or limiting them in some way.

It's true that this is not a democracy and that the people who own and run the game get to make the decisions. However, they obviously want input from the players since this forum exists. They could delete this forum, and it's still their game. If so many people feel so strongly about something, don't you think there's a reason to at least have an honest re-examination of the subject of NPMs?

Report Post Tip

Look, it's no secret that most users dislike the NPM feature. There, I said it. It's been like that since day one.

When it was first implemented, there was so much debate (and criticism) of the feature that, if I remember correctly, the admins deleted the thread all together, as if shutting us up would somehow make us all like the feature.

3 months in, and the consensus doesn't seem to have changed much but, as Crawford stated, ultimately, the people who own the game make the decisions.

And for now, I don't think they will seriously reconsider the NPM situation. It's here to stay as long as it continues to serve its purpose as a crutch to compensate for a dying user database.

Report Post Tip

Recent developments have led me to strongly support the option to turn off NPMs on 60 the second list -- or even just make them permanently gone from it. Before, I was completely indifferent. On further reflection, there is no reason whatsoever that when you are comparing 60 second lists against each other to cross-reference online times, they should be clogged up with 2/3 of the names not even being players. It's nothing more than an obnoxious waste of time that detracts from real gameplay.

Report Post Tip

I would agree with this.

being away for a wile i came back and realised there are robots instead of players dominating the 60 second list. I make no secret of the fact that i dont like the idea of them at all, i would go as far as to say i think they frustrate me, but as i dont own the game i am in no position to change that, having them off the list would help to stop players from being so upset by them. in my opinion they shouldnt be there int he first place, but i guess others dissagree. but thats the beauty of this world, we are allowed opinions, mine is that they shouldnt be here, the entire reason i play this game is to play allongside other people,so i can get to know people and have a brief outlet for my silly little life.. robots inhibit player interaction and give a false sence of a comunity. I am looking at the list now, i see 170 members online, how many of those are real people with real lives and real thoughts, not just robots designed to make money.
