I'm going with the bear if its a polar, a polar bear is twice the weight of a lion on average.  They both fight with claws and their teeth.  so the advantage would be the strengh of the bear and the extra fatty tissue the bear has against the bite of a lion.

i have changed my mind, although bears can flip cars and have the ability to hold miniguns on their backs, lions are cats therefore, they have 9 lives whilst the bear only has one. despite the bear having a minigun the lions will most likely chef the bear like gordon ramsay

Depends on white kind of bear.

Adult male lion is something between 330 and 570 pounds. 

While full grown grizzly is between 500 to 700 pounds with a really thick coat of fur.

Sure, lion is faster and more agile, but lion is not made with thick layer of skin and people really forget that bears have razor sharp claws and really long ones as well.

Also, I never heard of any cocaine lion, while most apex of all the predators ever was a cocaine fueled grizzly bear so...

I dont know, I just know I won't win with either and I'm scared of them both.

Absolutely the Lions in the NFC North this year. They still have all the talent, and now they can build on the confidence they gained going deep in the playoffs. They may even have a chip on their shoulder, which would be scary.

The Bears? Please. What are they even doing over there? I don't think they know and the fans sure as hell don't. I thought Justin Fields looked pretty good in his rookie years. I saw good things ahead for Chicago. NOPE! Trade him away and take an unknown quantity in the draft. The Unknown Quantity performs less impressively than Fields in his rookie year, so he's gone too. That's when I stopped paying attention. Chicago is and has been in recent history Green Bay's doormat. Now they can add Detroit to the list.

I don't know, the lion should be a "better fighter", but bears are massive. If not 50/50 maybe bear would win most of the time, but in their place it's wiser to just leave each other alone. I vote for lion just because feline, and because yeah.

I'd think any kind of bear would stomp a lion, except when it comes to American football. In the last ten years, the Chicago Bears have a 9-11 record against the Detroit Lions, so the outcome there could be a toss up. Back to legit bears, they're wayyy stronger than lions pound for pound, not even taking into account their size difference. Stamina, strength, size > speed. What a polar or grizzly bear would do to a lion would be horrifying.

Oddly enough, this isn't something i had previously given much thought to, although i do now appreciate why it is a topic of considerable interest to our American friends in the mountains. There are some considered thoughts above, although I can't see a mountain lion voluntarily attacking a bear.

Bears may have a height and weight advantage, but lions have absolute ferocity. If it's a female Lion they would absolutely rip the shit out of a bear. Some types of bear are obviously bigger threats than others.

I don't know shit about shit but while I would never condone animal cruelty....if you ahppened to catch this on film, I'd watch that video if it occurred naturally in the wild...anything else I couldn't possibly participate in. With that said, my moneys on the tiger unless its a polar bear then I'm not so sure.

Lion - the speed alone will be the bear's undoing. However, more likely than not, these two would avoid each other, opting for easier prey. There are more than enough deer and domestic animals for the lion to prey on (I'm assuming we're talking about a mountain lion/cougar for this).

Polar is between 770 and 1540 pounds.

Lions are between 250 and 550.

Polars are 5 feet, 9 feet standing.

Lions are 3-4 feet, 4.5 to 8.5 on legs.

I know that, as humans, we underestimate the size difference, because a trained fighter could smack around 50 pound heavier person.

But between average Joe at 200 pounds and not-so-average-Joe at 350, it is pretty much no contest.

Now, full grown Siberian tiger against full grown Polar? Maybe.

Also, don't forget that lions can on the occasion lose to hyenas even and hitting a polar bear with a .50 cal just makes it angrier.

So, bears, by far. Why? Well, they both have sharp claps, bear is bigger and fatter, so, if we exchange rip for a rip, lions lose. Bite for a bite, lions lose. And people really underestimate how fat fur and thick skin do wonders against slice damage.

Also, Polar Bears are called POLAR because they are on the poles. Lions are called KINGS OF THE JUNGLE because they live in the African Savannah. Get real.
