Desperado Donuts - Detroit Started by: Desperado on Nov 20, '20 14:07

In a small building in the center of Detroit, there is a Donut Shop the owner is of Mexican descent.
The outside of the building is in red color bricks, window frames are in white on the window frames on the first floor is an awning made per window with red and white stripes vertically.  between the first and the ground floor is a big sign

Desperado Donuts

Before you can enter the entrance you have to climb a small staircase with 3 steps.
There is a beautiful large wooden door of oak that shimmers from the recently painted lacquer.
You then enter a hall and there is a glass door as a connecting door.
You can already smell the baked dough. The ovens are also visible at the front of the store. Behind the counter is a man. He is middle-aged and takes orders from the customers. a pencil behind his ear is a spare one. you never know right?
Desperado Donuts has about 10 tables and a small bar with some chairs for when you want to grab a quick bite to eat and drink before disappearing into the crowd of Chicago
Pretty much a hangout for anyone who cares for something to eat while having a coffee.

What the most important thing about this whole operation is that on the 1st floor Desperado holds office.
Here you have the possibility to bribe local officers, politicians, and even the mayor.
He is the connection between the under and the upper world.
For good pay, he can make sure people will listen or broker a deal to give free passage to those who need it and cannot go out in public with their merchandise or operations. If you need any 'extra' service just buy a regular Donut and a Coffee Americano.
Antonio will come to pick you up if you just take a seat and wait for him to bring you to Desperado.

Sal got a word from Detroit about a new donut shop, oh boy how he loved donuts. He quickly told his driver to start the car and get there as fast as possible. He arrived at the Donut shop and walked in. It was nice warmy spot and he liked it. He approached the counter and saw the owner Desperado.
"Hello sir, my name is Salvatore, I'm coming from Chicago and heard about your donut shop. I just had to visit it. Very nice place you got here. Hows the business sir?"

Report Post Tip

Desperado looks at the person who stands in front of him. He never saw him before. Salvatore rings a little bell.

"Well I am glad you found out about my new place here in Detroit"

Desperado takes a look into the back if the new batch donuts are ready yet.

"Yes, we're doing well thank you, Salvatore. I am Desperado by the way. Can I get you something? You will get an extra donut of any of your likings for free since this is your first time here""

Desperado points to the delicious donuts that are beautifully set out behind the glass counter.

"Just let me know what you want and ill make it work"

Report Post Tip

Sal shaked hands with the owner Desperado and he felt the delicious smell coming from the oven.

"I would like to get two chocolate donuts and two donuts with caramel, if you have ones. I like sweet stuff." Salvatore smiled to him.

"Also, can I get a cup of coffee, usual black since the donuts are pretty sweet anyway."

Report Post Tip

Desperado shakes Sal's hand. smiles and says

"Glad to get to know you Sal, Yes of course I can get you those caramel ones and chocolate no problemo Senor"

He grabs a total of 4 donuts for Sal, 2 Caramel, and the last 2 Chocolate ones, and that empties the tray of chocolate ones.

"We need to refill the chocolate donuts," Soprano says to one of his co-workers.

"Can you make coffee black for this mister here Gino" as he turns his head and speak to Gino who is the back getting the donuts out of the oven.

"Did you hear the news, Salvatore?"

Desperado grabs the coffee gino just made and places it on the counter together with the donuts
He counts how much it will cost if he gives Sal the discount he just offered.

Gavin was hungry but he didn't spend a lot of time in Detroit so he wasn't sure where the "go-to" spots were. As he strolled down the road he saw Desperado's Donuts. Once he saw the sign he smiled because he knew Desperado and the place sounded like the one he had in New York. Finally, he found someone and something he recognized.

Gavin walked in and looked around. Laid out similarly to the New York donut shop, Gavin walked up to the counter and ordered.

"Can I have a half dozen assorted donuts please? Also, is Desperado around?"

Report Post Tip

Salvatore walked the streets of Detroit and saw a donut shop. Since Salvatore loved donuts he decided to stop by.

He entered the spot and walked to the counter.

"Hello there, can I get a few donuts and cup of coffee please?"

Report Post Tip

Now that his stomach was filled with candy and in a bit of pain, the gargling screaming emanating from his insides, he decided that the best way to wash it all down would be a nice dozen or so of donuts and there was a place known as Desperado Donuts right here in Detroit that would do just the trick for him.

It was only a few minutes of a stroll before he was at the doors and opening them up, he saw that there wasn't many people inside and quickly shuffled his way to the front of the line. Looking at the offerings on the wall there was one that caught his eye and spoke to him in such a way that he surely couldn't pass it up.

"I will take twelve maple crumbles, please."

Sounding appetizing as anything, Azathoth took out a few gummy bears from his pocket that he bought at the last shop and started sucking them down one after the other while his stomach still rumbled in pain. Maybe he was just still hungry?

Lazily Issei walked the streets, his eyes distant for that slight moment, it seemed like he was lost and yet there was that boyish charm to his smile. One that stopped short once he finally looked up, meeting the looks of the many people who gazed at him oddly, ever since his return from Paradise, it had been a time of shortcomings.

His business, his entire portfolio had seemingly fallen to the ways, no one had even heard of the once charismatic that was known as the Empiric Dragon of Las Vegas. Shrugging his shoulders, he walked into Desperado Donuts, maybe fun could be had once again, it had been too long since he was allowed that and for a moment, he was sure that he had forgotten all about the past.

Sighing, he tapped his finger on the counter, ordering himself an Oreo donut and a coffee, black with two sugars. He had lost his sweet tooth, a lot of his former behaviour had been lost due to Eto, yet that wasn't going to be talked about, for right now, he was going to relax and see what he could get up to.

Sliding into a stool, the young man who had seen too much for his age and for the time he had come here, he was not going to be relying on his former past anymore, it was time to play it his way, a new way if he could at the very least.

Joyner was running around New York when he got tired and decided to run the streets in Detroit. He flew over to Detroit and the first thing he did was visit his boss' place, called Desperado's Donuts. He walked in, put his coat and hat at the front door on the coat rack. He wiped his hands down his chest and stomach to brush off any lint from the jacket.

Joyner looked up and spotted Desperado and _Issei_. He smiled and slowly walked over to Issei.

"Mind if i sit next to you, my friend?"

Report Post Tip

"Friend?"

Tilting his head, Issei didn't exactly recognize the man, he certainly would have known him from before, yet considering things, a lot of his business was, currently, kept out of his hands. People wished for him to adjust and so he would, of course, that meant meeting new people.

"Sorry, it's been a while, remind me, just who are you? It's been some time since I came to Detroit, and even then, I don't think I've ever stopped here before on my travels."

There it was and truth at that, Issei and Detroit, oddly enough, it was one of the few places that didn't really click with him and all he could do was come here on a few flights, book a hotel and even then, he never slept. He always had a way of manoeuvring during these trips, so he found himself with less time to enjoy sights and more on focusing on his sales in the business side of the world he lived in.

So maybe this was fate making up for such lost time, he knew that he had to get used to such a thing and he would have to visit his second home soon enough. New York was the spot for that, somewhere that he would be going next, after all, the business did need tending too and Dixon business at that.

Shaking his head, he gave the man a sorrowful smile, blushing ever so slightly in embarrassment, not knowing that came over him as his thoughts jumped from wall to wall in a game of tennis seemingly.

"Apologies, but I would like to know who wishes to sit with me, though please do take the seat, I am not meeting anyone here at the very least...."

Report Post Tip

Joyner smiled.

"My friend is a polite saying. Better to be a friend instead of an enemy right?"

Joyner chuckled then put his hand up to get the waitress' attention. A young lady came over and said her name was Shana. Joyner winked and ordered.

"Hi Shana, nice to meet you. Can I get a bagel and boston cream donut? Do you guys do coffee too?"

Report Post Tip

"You could say that but you might be an enemy for all I know, friends prove themselves, enemies prove to satisfy their twisted desires. I hope you turn out to be the former...with a mixture of the latter, it proves to be fun some of the time."

A small grin played at his lips, once again, it seemed like the former dragon was resurfacing at that moment before it was crushed with ease like a simple egg.

Meeting the eyes of the waitress, he could see that she was wary of him more than his companion, from the looks of him, she should be worried of the man next to him rather than the dragon. Issei was many things but volatile was not one of them, at least, unprovoked.

Bowing his head, he smiled in thanks as she handed him his own order, passing her a few thousand bucks in terms of a small-ish tip. Maybe she would remember that, of course, it seemed that she was slightly in shock and soon she turned her attention back to the other man.

"We've sat here a while, discussing and yet we've not stated our names to one another. My name is Issei, who may you be?"

Of course, the question was loaded, the man could easily just say whatever and yet Issei would still toy with it and wait for a few moments before wishing to know the man's true name. Heh, it was what he decided in the end, truly.

Sipping his coffee, he smiled with his eyes closed, one of the few enjoyments he had left, he didn't think he would have that much left to come but he had been surprised with what was coming to him now.

Report Post Tip

Joyner laughs some more because _Issei_ didn't recognize him but how would he when the last time they met Joyner was a kid.

"Man, You really don't remember me? Last time I saw you, I was a child actually. I am the son of the late Geek. I know you guys were friends."

Joyner turned his attention to the young lady and ordered a coffee.

"Yes, I will take a black coffee with sweetener other than sugar please"

Joyner loved coffee but he tried to stay away from sugar at all costs. Sugar made him very sick and he never wanted to feel that kind of sickness again.

Report Post Tip

"It has been some time and a lot of things have happened since the...unfortunate passing of your father, he was one of the good ones and a great friend of mine. I had wished to work together but mayhaps you, his son, probably not his only one, can continue his work."

Smirking into his cup of coffee, he barely at Joyner, the kid was something alright and it definitely wasn't what was pulling him away from such work. In fact, he had yet to get back into work and it was something he knew he needed.

Placing the cup down, he barely even paused a moment before Shana was refilling it for him, smirking, he gave her a closed eye smile before turning back to Joyner with a smile on his lips.

"Still, what are your plans? Do you wish to do what your father did? Try and do his best in getting sixty briefcases of Let's say Oreos across the country, hm?"

Issei was a man of many slight pleasures and he knew how to play the game, Lucas had potential and if he could become something his father could not, a man of business and one he cornered certain markets, he would be a man that no one could ever stop.

Yet he knew, even with his crippling eyesight, he saw things that most did not wish to see and it left him to this business and what he could do with it. Adjust the way he played the game was one of the things he had learned to do, it gave him a bit more leeway if he was honest in that regard.

"If not, I am sure that I might be able to find something for you, a little different but nonetheless, it pays and maybe, it'll fill your pockets all the same...."

Report Post Tip

Every time Joyner spoke of his father he got emotional. He held back the tears and cracking in his voice and continued to discuss.

"Plans? My plans are just to be all I can be for my city. This was the way of my father and he taught me the values. I intend to continue his legacy as he would want me to!"

Joyner got his food and coffee from the waitress. He smiled and winked at the young lady as he grabbed the fork to begin eating. Before so, he grabbed a napkin and put it on his lap. Then looked at _Issei_

"Etiquette"

Report Post Tip

"His legacy? Do you know what that was, the plans, the people it involved, the lives he may have wished to bring with him on this...journey?"

Soft spoke was the dragon now, he knew that he didn't have to use an edge or use his fists, especially with Joyner. He wasn't going to be one of those Petes that did things like that, the new generation could learn from the elders and the new generation could also teach the Elders. It was different but it was a way of doing business and especially for him.

Noticing Joyner, he had something, a spark, potential and it was there, he had plans of being the man he could to his city. Of course, it was applause-worthy and something that Issei found himself doing, in his own ways and his own style. Of course, it had greatly switched back and forth and in that time, he had slowly found himself settling into his role as a Jack in the deck.

Yet Issei knew there was more for the business at hand, there would always be a little something clawing at him for that matter, a chance to prove that he had something else for his moments in this life.

"Maybe there is something more for you to do, how have you thought about the gambling side of the business or perhaps, boxing? There are plenty of ways to earn money, I mean, look at this doughnut shop, it certainly is something and I mean, it's situated nicely."

Meeting his gaze, Issei gave the young man a soft nod before finishing his doughnut and going back to his refilled cup of coffee, gradually taking a sip then.

Report Post Tip

Joyner never really looked into any other aspect of the mafia. He knew what he knew from his father and that's all so it was only natural for him to follow in his father's footsteps.

"Honestly, no. I had no interest. The only thing I was thinking was make my dad proud."

Joyner never really had a good relationship with his father but towards the end of Geek's life, he and Joyner started to mend fences and started to gain each others respect.

Report Post Tip

"Your father was not a difficult man to please, I know, this life, one that leaves families dysfunctional and rarely are they ever so different in a way that brings the best of both worlds to a new light, this is the way it is. I don't know the impact, my life wasn't affected until I was in my teens...heh"

Shaking his head at that wording, of course, everything had changed then, the fighting and interest, of course, it linked back to Geek, the man had been a supporter of his business. It wasn't something that he took to his other side of the business, yet he appreciated it. The man had known when he would have been needed and that was a nice gesture.

Yet it didn't seem like Luca, Issei had nicknamed him once upon a time, had known that side of his father. It was almost lost to him and for that, Issei knew he would at the very least, give this man some help. It would be the best he would be able to receive and that was something, considering that he was one of the few that knew how this worked...

Smirking, he sipped at his coffee once again, maybe he would spend a night here in Detroit, New York could wait and he hadn't been called on urgent business, it was going to be a nice time for all he knew at the very least.

"Maybe I can help with that, your father was a good man and maybe he needed to leave a legacy behind, what about...making a Casino? A lasting legacy for your family, I hear those always have a great idea behind them, the thought of it at the very least..."

Bowing his head, Issei sipped at his coffee once again. He was a good kid, maybe there was something, a chance to make more money and that was always a plus in Issei's book.

Report Post Tip

"Honestly, I have no clue what I am good at. I am going to have to do some searching to figure out what it is."

Joyner eats more of his food, then wipes his mouth with a napkin.

"I don't think anyone can really help me with that. I think that is up to me to decide and figure out"
