Just another bad day Started by: TomCollins on May 26, '11 18:12

Sitting at the back of a coffee shop Tom held his head in his hands while staring out the window. Is this what it all boiled down to, there has to be something more to life than this. He longed for the days of his youth, the fear he felt when walking into a post office, not knowing if he would walk out or be carried. He had just about noticed the door chime as it opened, two men walked in and made their way straight to the counter, Tom paid them little attention lost in his own thoughts.

It was the fear in the cashiers' voice that brought him out of his trance, looking over he saw that both men were pointing guns at Michelle. He had witnessed scenes like this many times in the past. Usually however it was him holding the gun waiting impatiently for the cash to be handed over. Instinctively he reached for his own gun, then he realised he no longer carried it, age had slowed him and he'd decided a few days ago he no longer wanted to carry it.

Tom had been coming here for some time, Michelle knew he was connected but she never asked and he never told. The two armed men looked like a couple of young kids just trying to make a score the same way he had in his youth. But there was something different about one of them, he looked extra jumpy. He shouted at Michelle to show him the safe, the poor girl was in tears and from the look on the guys face maybe the safe wasn't all he was after. As she lead him into the back Tom slide out of his chair, the first guy was covering the door and Tom either hadn't been noticed when they came in, or he'd just been disregarded.

As Tom moved closer, Michelle screamed out. The first gunman spun round to see Tom's right coming straight for his face, the guy ducked and tried to bring his gun up, Tom threw his entire body into the gunman taking him to ground, the gun scattering across the floor. He grabbed the gunman's head and slammed it into the floor, once, twice, three times and he was out cold.

Picking up the gun he moved behind the counter and up to the office door, hearing a muffled cry he edged the door open. A beam of light entered the darkened room, the second gunman turned and shot at the door, Tom felt the bullet enter his gut and the warmth of blood starting to run down his leg. He threw his weight into the door and fired twice. Michelle cried out, the gunman hit the floor dead.

She quickly moved over to Tom and knelt down beside him, seeing the blood she started to scream again, he gently grabbed her arm, "what can I do" she said. Knowing he had little time there was no other choice "911 quickly" and with that he lost conscious.

Alonzo was walking around town looking for something. He gave his bodyguards the day off today and they happily went to the pub across the street. He left his HQ, with his newly polished hand-gun and proudly slung it in it's leather holster. Alonzo, was half-jogging half-walking, desperately trying to get back to work. The only reason he left was to get, his niece a present before he forgot and then leave the rest of the day for family business. All of a sudden, Alonzo heard the sound of gunshots being fired from a shop two blocks down the road. Alonzo usually, didn't get involved in things that weren't to do with him or his family. But he'd been itching for a little conflict for a while. He took out his hand-gun, half-crouched and ran to the fire-fight. As soon as he got to the shop, he hugged the wall with his back and slowly peered through the window to see what was happening. By now, there was no point being discrete. A whole crowd of people began circling the shop from a distance. Alonzo, lifted up his gun and aimed it with both his hands. Left hand, on the grip, right index finger on the trigger. He opened the door and found a man bleeding to death along with a girl who was desperately trying to stop the bleeding. Alonzo, went inside the shop being as cautious as possible, checking every single possible hiding place until he relaxed his hand and weapon.

"Are, are you the police, please you've gotta help us." Cried the woman who looked to be in her late twenties, early thirties.
"I'm afraid not, but I think I can help" Alonzo tried reassuring her, knowing full well that the blood was pouring from the pancreatic duct within the gastroinstestinal tract. And that if there was some way to stop the blood from the exterior the blood would increase in pressure with greater volume within inside the body. He took off his coat, and laid it on top of the man, to keep as much body heat as possible. He ripped off his sleeve and folded several times wide enough to fit over the wound and applied pressure. The man screamed in pain. There was nothing else, Alonzo could do and he knew that there was nothing the medical services could do, in this time and age. It just wasn't sophisticated enough.

Just finish me off, there's no point sitting in a hospital for months on end not knowing if death was going to snatch you away. And even if I do survive, I just won't be fit enough to get on with the usual business. Please, you've done more than enough. But... but, I think it's time for me to meet my maker.

Alonzo was shocked. What if the other families would think this was a hit? They'd probably think he'd paid the woman to keep her mouth schtum.

Im afraid I can't do that. It would cause too much issues. Your family and their allies would think this was a hit and my family, would think that i'd gone rogue. I'm sorry, but your just going to have to wait until help arrives and where the fuck are they it's been ten minutes already and still no sound of siren. Jheez!

Hey kid, don't worry. This girl here's my niece and my family know full-well that she'd never betray me like that. Just do it already, right in between my eyes. DO IT!

Alonzo pondered at it for a minute, weighed the gun in his hand throwing it a couple of inches in the air. Before swinging it round and the index finger landing on the trigger. Alonzo aimed the gun, took off the safety and........
