Limit NPMs: In Simple Terms Started by: Crawford on May 29, '11 01:15

It has been stated by a coder/admin that NPMs were designed to help new crews catch up to established, old time ones.

But established, old time crews have more money. Thus, they have way more NPMs.

This is doing the opposite of what the NPMS were intended for, and making it harder for new crews to contend.

Therefore, you should only be able to purchase an NPM if you have been a CL for 60 days or less.

NPMs can be, I suppose, a useful tool when limited. But when unlimited, they make real players less important. For a game that is supposed built on diplomacy, social, and networking skills as much as clicking and credits, unlimited NPMs threaten the heart of what makes this place so unique in the first place.

Originally, I had not planned to post in this suggestion, or the similar one, even though I agree with the idea. However, after some conversations on irc, I feel compelled to express why I feel this would be beneficial. Firstly, I feel this would be a sort of middle ground for the people that enjoy NPMs and the people that hate them. It would only help a CL out for the first 60 days, which is plenty of time to get a decent financial handhold in our world. This would cut out some of the excess money in the game which would stop people from getting an iron fortress of body guards and put people back down into hitting range in the near future. This would result in less kills needed for a hitsquad member to be beneficial and I believe limiting the NPMs will result in a lowering of credit prices, which I feel something should have been done about before now.

While I love the NPMs as a CL, I see how they can be irksome from the outside in. They pull in more and more money as time goes by (though it's much less than it used to be) and the bigger families continue to fatten their wallets. The original use for the NPMs has been long since gone and people continue to buy them. Because they continue to buy them, people are raising credit prices, as they know people will buy credits for NPMs.

In short, I agree with this idea.
