The Dethfather of Detroit Started by: Cinnamon on Jan 08, '21 11:07

It had been a long week of celebration and partying in the Corktown compound, many of the guests had either crashed in a bedroom - dead to the world, or were using one of the many rooms to roll, snort or drink their way into a suitably inebriated state. @Junk_in_the_Trunk was organising the party pharmacy in the kitchen, and in one of the grow rooms, @Indognito was even trying to master the ability of hiding beneath the canopy of leaves of the numerous cannabis plants.

Across town in the concrete jungle of Bricktown, however, plans were underway. Pernicious plans. Deep in the most rockinest most metal-est basement, in the soundproof practice room, around a fine mahogany table were a few of the heads and hands of the Detroit crews loyal to @NathanExplosion.

@Azathoth was holding court, pointing to a crude diagram of the Godfather's compound with a busted up drumstick.

"The last one might have been easy, but this is the Chairman we're talking about here... this aint gonna be no party. We want to get in, get shit done and claim the city once and for all. You all know your jobs, so lets get this done, quick and simple. No fuck ups, okay?"

"Then, we party right?" @Morry interjected, already clutching a green bottle filled with some sort of viscous maroon coloured tonic wine, with a pre-rolled joint clasped between his lips.

"Yes, then we party" @Azathoth confirmed, as he signalled the conclusion of the meeting. The assembled team rose to their feet and filed towards the door solemnly, each members' face etched with grit and determination. No more discussion was necessary, the plan had already begun.

Carrying a single guitar case, @NathanExplosion lead from the front, marching with purpose to the extravagant house owned by the Bricktown Godfather, in the central district of the city, flanked by @Indifference and @Garen. Reaching the gate of the secluded mansion, the lone gate guard furrowed his brow and began questioning the arrival: -

"Nate? I don't have you listed..." as he left his booth, looking at a clipboard with a number of papers attached, but before he could complete his sentence, @JimiHendrix had appeared out of a bush behind the guard's booth and had a guitar string wrapped around the guard's neck, garrotting him silently. Dragging him back into the booth by his arm pits, Jimi put the guard's hat on and disengaged the security system expertly.

The gate swung open and, without missing a step, the three men continued on up the driveway to the front door. @Mona was already waiting at the front door of the mansion, having picked the lock and was tending the door, awaiting the arrival of Nathan and his small crew of elite assassins.

Entering the house and ascending the elaborate, curved marble staircase to the boardroom, where Cinnamon had requested a meeting to discuss the future of the city with the Chairman, Nathan and his trusted advisors stole in quietly. The meeting had been merely a ploy to ensure the Godfather would be where @NathanExplosion needed him to be - reasonably isolated and as vulnerable as he could be without arousing too much suspicion.

@Indifference and @Garen both peeled off and each took one of the Chairman's guards flanking the Godfather. Both grabbing their target by the forehead, exposing their throat and they sliced the jugular veins of the bodyguards with cutthroat razors, quickly, quietly and efficiently. Gasping and gurgling as they fell, the Godfather stood out of his chair and turned to face Nathan, who had now opened the guitar case he was carrying, had pulled a Tommy gun out and was standing over him.

Fear crossed the old mans face as the realisation of the situation dawned on him.

"Ain't nothin nothin personal old man, just business. Detroit needs more Deth, and you're... well, not needed anymore." Nathan stated coldly, and without emotion, as he steadied his aim and pulled the trigger. The gun rattled out a dozen bullets noisily, each one pounding into the chest of the old Godfather, and the lifeless body slumped back into the chair again.

With smoke rising from the barrel, the deed was done, the Dethfather had taken his rightful place on the throne of Detroit. Now it was time to party. Again.

Indifference looked over at NathanExplosion as the deed was done.  There wasn't a lot to say.  He knew a long time ago that it would come to this.  There wasn't many people that he had faith in - but he certainly had faith in Nathan.

"Congrats old friend.  I am happy to see Bricktown is going metal.  I won't be far away, and I'll always be behind you."

Indifference slaps a high 6 to NathanExplosion.

As much as I hate the band being broken up, I totally understand that musical differences can move people to different places.

However, I think we need to make a pact, right now, that we'll be doing face melting solo's and heart attack drum riffs along the way

for we are forever metal!

"Nathan, my man, I'm so happy for you, friend" Jimi said, later that night, at the Dethfather party. He lifted his glass, which was almost empty and raised his voice. "A toast, fellas, to our beloved Dethfather and our fine metal city!"

Even later that night, Jimi saw the chance to speak to Nathan alone for a moment.

"Hey, brother, you know how this occasion is very special for me too, because I'm very happy for you. You deserve it a lot, man. I'm so glad to be here today and enjoy this moment alongside you!"

After a brotherly hug, Jimi pulled out a very small bottle from his jacket. He handed it to Nathan with a big smile on his face.

"This is a little gift for you, brother. I thought maybe you would like to try it. One drop at a time, uh, don't go crazy on that."

It was a very pure acid that Jimi took from his personal stock. A special gift for a special friend.

After the deed was done, Garen changed his attire for the event that followed. Once the ceremony began, Garen approached the newly promoted Dethfather and shared a few words.

"This has certainly been a long journey. One in which I am honored to be a part of and privileged to continue serving. Our bloodline go back quite awhile and in my ancestor's journal there are excerpts that describes your lineage's leadership as a natural leader who genuinely cares for the individual growth and development of their crew. As I stand before you today I must say the apple doesn't fall very far... Congratulations GFC NathanExplosions. Very well deserved!"

Garen trails off in search for a beer.

Rain was nervously awaiting a call from Cinnamon when the phone finally rang and he told her that NathanExplosion had successfully defeated the NPC Godfather, come join the celebration.

While she was getting dress the first thing that came to her mind was how not smoke Cinnamon’s ganja. She couldn’t get over how she almost choked to death and people found it funny.  She had to laugh to herself.

She threw her hair into a ponytail, no fedora tonight. She flops a camel and navy fleece cloche, with a polar fleece lining hat on her head, threw on her brown storm guard overcoat and headed to the lobby to the taxi she had to doorman call for her.

On the drive to the celebration all Rain could think about is the things she read about Nathan in her mother’s journals.  She was so fond of him.  He was smart, had tons of experience and was well connected to the underworld.   She called him her rock. They developed a relationship unlike one she had ever had. Rain remembered reading about the day they packed up the van and headed for Detroit.

When she arrived at the celebration she was more confident with the warmer clothes she could face the hawk weather.  The celebration was already in full swing.  A lot of people and a lot of partying were going on.  There was a couch with a lot of coats laid on it so she took hers off and laid it with the rest. She stopped and talked to a few of the guys she had met before then Cinnamon came up and greeted her.  She told him she was waiting for Nathan to be free so she could go over and speak with him.  Shortly afterwards she had a chance he was walking freely sipping on a cold one.  She quickly grabbed one herself and walked over to him.

Well congratulations Godfather Chairman NathanExplosion or should I say Dethfather.   Rain rolled up the brim of her hat a little so he could see her face better.  When he realized who she was he gave her a warm welcome.

I am so happy for your achievements.  You should be a proud man.  I know this was a long hard journey for you and you deserve this highly prestigious rank and this celebration.  She lifted her cold one to his and wished him the very best.

"It seems these days there are more and more events I am due to attend in celebration of our community's achievements. I say due, as I'm obscenely behind in terms of where I should be, and who I should be congratulating. Is it overkill? Are we over-enthused about mediocre accomplishments? Not at all. In fact, I would much rather have more occasions to celebrate the living than mourn the dead.

"The fewer unnecessary funerals I have to attend, the better. This is something that in recent days has been a reality for us all, and it is individuals like yourself that we have to thank for that. So salut, Dethfather of Detroit. Your time at the top will be remembered for the opportunity you've sown and the noticeably attentive approach you've engaged us with."

Kaya didn't expect anything new as she was opening NathanExplosion's newest telegram -- surely, it was going to be something about life being meaningless or an invitation to disappear into the void again but as soon as she scanned the contents, Kaya's face broke into a wide grin rather than staying in an expression of nihilistic indifference. Nathan expressed his interest in challenging the current godfather of Detroit, a move that Kaya knew he was ready for for quite some time now. He didn't say much in the interest of security but did divulge the date and venue of where this momentous occurrence would happen, so Kaya asked her secretary to clear her schedule for that day as there was no way that she was missing out on what will surely be the metalest of celebrations ever.

When word spread that the deed had been done, Kaya excitedly made her way to the party with an envelope in hand. Once she saw Nathan was free, she walked up to him with a wide smile and gave him a bear hug. "Congratulations, Dethfather Nathan! I'm insanely proud of you and know you've worked so, so hard to reach this point. I can't think of anyone else more deserving to be in the position you're in right now, and no one else better suited to lead the great city of Detroit. It's an honor to be able to call myself your friend and I know you'll only do greater things from here on out. The Motor City is lucky to have such an amazing leader and person at its helm."

She picked up a glass of champagne and clinked it with Nathan's glass as a toast to his good health and fortune. She was about to walk away and let Nathan attend to the throng of guests waiting to congratulate him before she realized she hadn't even given him her gift yet. "Oh, wait! This is for you." Kaya handed Nathan the envelope with a smirk and a mischievous glint in her eye. "When the job gets too stressful, you should use that. It's an all-expenses-paid trip to Malaysia... so you can see the septum linguae." Before Nathan can process her joke and strangle her, Kaya scurried away giggling, mingling with the other partygoers.

Congratulations on such an achievement!

Velvet had noticed many people have defeated the godfather back to back, it definitely was a new era.. all had worked so hard to change the districts individually she was in awe of these people.

Looking forward to seeing you further your journey

she smiled as she took off back down the streets

The party had been ongoing for what seemed like several nights. NathanExplosion could only recall bits of it - most of it after the deed was hazy. But he did remember each of the faces that came to him to offer their congratulations. With great effort he stood up and stood before them all and raised his bottle of whiskey high. He wobbled a bit and tried to focus on the bleary outlines around him.

"Thank you ever so much to those of you who came out to wish me well. I promise I heard most of it. I'm truly grateful for the chance we have been given here in Detroit, and am so proud to see my close friends also experiencing success. I could sit here and name off names for hours, but frankly, I just want to get back to drinking."

And he promptly passed out.

Always late but never unimportant, Azathoth draped on his finest robes while slowly and dramatically walking over towards the most metal of Godfathers to have ever been metal. Yet he was already sleeping, which was fine by him since all he was really here for was a few dollars and to leave a note of congratulations.

So slipping into Nathan's pockets he took out a quick cool million and replaced it with the finest of penmanship.

To Nathan -

Good jowb on the Godfather Chairman, I have a lot of issues writing this with all of my tentacols but I try my best you know? Keep being metol. You will do a great job.

- The Destroyer of The Universe And All Things, Azathoth

Trying to fix up a few of his errors on the fly he let the slip of paper fall into his pocket and walked off with the money that was going to a very good cause of multidimensional hookers and magical fairy dust which was most likely just cocaine with pink food coloring, but damn wasn't it tasty stuff...
