Confectionary Creations Started by: Rain on Jan 18, '21 21:01

Rain and Odessa decided they were going to make this the sweetest block in Detroit.  When the building next to Candy Galore became vacant the bought it and turned it into a unique ice-cream shop.  It was a two story building.  The first floor housed the Soda Fountain with a long counter with eight swivel bar stools and booths and tables surrounded Sundae Best.

Grand opening day was a huge success even with just limited advertisement.  The ice-cream shop had a continuous flow of customers throughout the day. We had to establish a age requirement of at least 10 years old for the Sundae Best fix it yourself bar without an adult for it was getting a little messy.

She couldn’t believe the atmosphere at the Tipsy Scoop when the Soda Fountain and Sundae Best shut down for the evening at 8pm.    There was a nice crowd of single ladies, couples and even a few men who were having a nice time in the upstairs lounge.  The decision to add a little piano bar was a excellent idea.  Soon customers were enjoying drinks, eating the favorite ice-cream and singing to the piano man’s tunes.

Hearing that there was a new establishment in Detroit that sold candies was all that Azathoth needed before he made his way down personally to the business that was going by the name Confectionery Creations. Once inside the first thing that he noticed was all of the many different ways that one could over-do their love of sugar, and this pleased him greatly as overdoing it was something that the man was well versed in and could not be stopped from.

So what is a chocolate egg cream? This sounds confusing, but also... tempting, squinting to try reading exactly what was in the concoction he decided instead to just order it because reading was hard.

I'll take one of those creams and maybe just a cup of hot fudge? That's all I'll need today, thank you.

Who would believe that Tipsy Scoop at Confectionary Creations would become so popular?  After 7pm after the soda fountain shop closed it has become quite a hot spot.  Who said men didn’t like ice-cream?     She actually saw men in a booth handling business. Or was it that fact that quite a few single women enjoy their ice-cream in a very sociable adult atmosphere.  She thought the latter so she decided to add a fruit and cheese platter and a tray of finger sandwiches to the Tipsy Scoop menu to satisfy a little appetite.

Snack Menu

Fruit and Cheese Platter - Strawberries, Grapes, apples, pears, Smoked Gouda, Mozzarella, American, Swiss,  Parmesan Cheese.

Finger Sandwich Tray – ham, ham and cheese, turkey, turkey salad, tuna salad, chicken salad sandwiches.

Rain also had the lighting changed to making the place look a little more laid-back and hired another piano man to cover all nights.

The Tipsy Scoop was turning out to be much more than she hoped for.

Foamy wanders in and asks to see the proprietor

Ah Rain, nice business you've got here, however the city rules state you have to run the blueprints by the BDM.....me, before opening a business in the the Motor City

Godfathers rules, now, how do you want to settle this?

MsRain met with Odessa because she swore a check was written to Foamy sometime ago but didn't have the records right with her.  She sent foamy a telegram.

My dear Foamy.  As a resident of Detroit now I understand compensation for a business is not necessary.  But if I could ask you to please go back and check your records I do believe approval was granted and payment was sent to you around  Jan 18th for the opening of Confectionary Creations .  Wouldn't want anyone to think the business was not then open without going through the proper channels.  I am sure it was just an oversight.

Looking forward to having the delicious ice-cream put a smile on your face.

Thanks, MsRain.

Rain sat down at a booth and had two scoops of Brown Sugar Bourbon Ice Cream in the Tipsy Scoop.  It was exactly what she needed

Things were really picking up at the Confectionary Creations but the Tipsy Scoop was becoming a popular night spot.  With the additions of after work happy hours it stayed crowded from early to late evenings.  Harper walked in and the host checked in her coat.

They added special Valentine’s Day Drinks to the menu to celebrate the day.

Happy Valentine’s Day Drink Specials

For the Ladies

Love Martini - Imported rum, peach schnapps, cranberry juice, vodka, lime

Cupid’s Arrow -vodka, blood orange liqueur, orange juice, lemon juice, lemon lime soda

For the Men

St. Valentine’s Day Massacre Margarita -   tequila, mezca, blood orange puree,  vanilla syrup, lime juice, Black lava salt, cayenne pepper

Hanky Panky -  sweet vermouth,  Fernet-Branca.

Harper was a little surprise to see so many single men and woman there.  Maybe this was a good thing.  They might hook up here and end up spending a wonderful evening together.  Tiffany one of the hosts came over and greeted her, asked if she wanted a table.  Harper told her that she would just take her favorite stool at the bar.  She sat at the bar and when Charlie the bartender came over she told him she would have one of those Cupid’s Arrow.  Maybe it might bring her some luck.

Once again Harper was surprised at the nice crowd gathered at the Tipsy Scoop.  It was a nice place for both men and women to come and socialize.  The men got to know that a lot of unaccompanied women patronized the place giving them the opportunity to become acquainted.  we set up a small stage area and hired a piano player and a few local jazz quartets  and blue singers. The patrons enjoyed sing along and a few jam sessions where artists were just allow to join in together and do their own thing. Harper also notice some wheeling and dealing going on in some private booths that were set up.

If people we just looking for a nice spot to socialize and satisfied that sweet tooth Tipsy Scoop was the place to me.

Sal went to the Confectionary Creation to cure his sweet tooth.  He ordered the bourbon apple pie ice cream and the finger platter sandwich tray.  He eat the ice cream in the shop as he sat and waited for the sandwich tray to be made.  Sal looked out the window while he ate and waited for the finished product.  He thought about the motor city and the last time he walked down woodward avenue.  The last time he was there he ran into a young kid by the name of Arther Fonzarelli the kid wanted to be called the Fonz.

The kid was going back to Wisconsin to be with his mother but couldn't afford the train ticket and was trying to earn money as a thug doing collection.  Sal gave the kid the money and told him to stay in school.  Then as he looked up the staff had his food ready for him to take home.

Scarlett walked in and looked around, this was definitely her kind of store.  So much too choose from, she had to tell herself not to get one of everything.  She walks up to the counter and looks over the menu.

"Can I get a scoop of the bourbon apple pie ice cream?  And maybe the orange cream soda."

She leans against the counter waiting for her order.

Sal once again returned to the Confectionary Creation.  He loved candy and sundae's.   He ordered a banana split with apple pie ice cream and hot fudge.  He also ordered a sandwich platter to go.   Sal sat reading the morning paper while he waited.  Sal looked at the kids looking into the shop.  He waved them in and paid for two scoops of ice cream for each kid.  They even got four toppings of their likings.
