A Celebration in New Orleans Started by: Frank-Scorsese on Jun 09, '11 22:14

The city of New Orleans, like every city, whispers about the news of the underworld. However this time the rumors are true. The civilians are also excited about the upcoming parade, the carnival rides, games and food all paid for by Bender's crew.

The invitations were sent out and the state and city politicians called upon to honor their debts.

Frank stands up from the table after getting the nod from his Godfather.

I would like to first thank all our friends for today. I have the honor of speaking before you all. Correction we will run Jail breaks every 20 minutes.

First of all congratulations to BananaBender for his hard work. He has earned this promotion and I'm proud to have him working here with me.

I do have one correction to make however. We will be cancelling the pickpocketing contest completely and we ask that no one pickpocket within the city for the duration of this contest so there's no confusion. The city rules were changed to reflect this.

Everything else will go forward as planned. Thanks again to Frank and everyone else who had a hand in this for honoring BananaBender as he deserves to celebrate his accomplishments.

Congratulations on becoming a DON, you truely deserve it. Your LHM worked very hard with all the arrangements as did a lot of your crew and friends.

I saw no problems with the arrangements as they originally where but as no one can question a godfather, he has the final word.

Hope everyone enjoys the weekends events and thanks for everyones help with arranging things.

Cosa Nostra- A short story

As the sun breaks the horizon in New Orleans on January 3rd 1920 the city is begging to come alive. The newspaper trucks drop off the morning news which reads
"4000 Communists Captured!" and "Ruth Signs with Yankees." Our story focuses around a young man trying to make a life for his young family. Fred is a twenty-two
year old father of three. He lives in an apartment of which he calls, "The Den of Evil." His dream is to provide a better life for his family. To do this he must find work
which for an uneducated man this isn't an easy task. Lets take a peek in at him now.

As the sun shines in through the window its warmth gently touches the hips of a young woman. As Fred lays there starring at his wife he smiles and takes a large breathe. Enjoying every moment of such a beautiful sight. He carefully brushes her flowing brown hair away from her face and gently kisses her on the forehead. He is leaving such a beautiful thing because he must find work today, rent is due and he hasn't has work in a week. He slowly walks toward the door grabbing his jacket as he passes by. He stops in front of the children's room, all three in two beds, a meager living he thinks as he stares at his lovely children sleeping. As he makes his way to his door he uses the glare of the sun against the window to look at himself before he leaves, image is important to Frank. He fixes his hair and buttons his jacket. After he is sure he looks good he leaves the house heading for Mr. Madison's house. He heard word he is looking for a few good men.

As he arrives at Mr. Madison's he is stopped by two large men in extremely nice suits. For a moment Fred feels as if he is under dressed and under qualified for whatever job he is about to try and get. After the brief moment of doubt he shakes it off. He follows the men inside the house. After passing through a few rooms, going down a set of stairs, and seeing a few staff it is clear that Mr. Madison is a well to do man. A man who could really help Fred provide for his. After this realization Fred is more determined then ever to do whatever it takes to give his family everything. They finally reach their destination, a small dark room dimly lit by a dangling bulb on the end of a cord. In the middle of the room is a man, wearing a police officers uniform, tied to a chair. Leaned up against the wall is a young man who upon seeing the entrance of Fred smiles and walks towards him. He extends his hand and says, I'm Madison. You want a job? He offers Fred a .32 caliber pistol and says, "Kill this man and I'll make sure you have a good job for the rest of your life."

Fred looks at the pistol then at the man in the chair, who at this point is screaming and shaking around trying to get freed. Fred can barely hear this mans voice, as if time has slowed down everything seems to be moving in slow motion. Sound
is as if it is coming from distant locations. He places his hand on the gun and the cold steel tingles under his fingers. He takes aim at the man he knows nothing about and fires two rounds into his chest.

"You are going to fit right into this thing of ours" Madison said as he placed his arm around Fred's shoulder.

Wade looked wistfully as the uniform police tryed hopelessly to calm the disgruntled workers in front of the closed distillery.Close to five hundred hard working Americans no longer in employment thanks to its own goverment and its silly laws.If these had been Mussolini's officers half of the crowd woul have been dead by now.But this was America, the land of opputunity. And the U.S Senate had just threw a big fat one in Wade's lap.Not only that they had give him 6 months grace to organize everything in place of this day.Now it had come about and Wade felt like a kid on christmas morning.Prohibition had kicked in the day before and already he had four truck full of Canadian whiskey winging their way to New Orlean's from Winsconsin. The profits would be immense and with so many officers and officials partial to a drink,Wade forsaw ample oppotunity for corruption, black mail and extortion.Which was a man like himselfs bread and butter.

Wade also knew competetion for this business would be fierce. Some of the families had been slow on the up-take,allowing the more forward thinking to grab a foothold, but their nonchalance would not last.Wade knew things would escalate quickly and his people would need fresh meat for the front line.Hence todays little excercise.A few dollars here and there had ensured this would be no peaceful rally, the trouble makers already beginning to incite others in the crowd to take action. It was these others Wade had his eye on.Men with no job prospects and a self-righteous fury burning within them.He was looking for those who gave free reign to that fury, men who would be easily coerced into new less legitimate employment. He would start them off with small roles in the bootlegging operation, those with an aptitude for the work would be given new tasks, those who did not could serve as cannon fodder.

Franks walks up to the platform and waves to the crowd. he smiles before he speaks.

The Celebration and the story Competition is Offically Over. As the street sweepers start to clean New Orleans, I would like to thank the Sponsors for all their donations that made this two day event possible. Maeve, Martyr, Cinema, Optimus Bender, Rosa Seco and DLS. Without your gifts that showed your love and time it would not have been possible. You showed that in a short amount of time we can pull together as a city and celebrate something great together. I thank you along with all those that participated in the celebration.

Congrats to TheBigEasy 1st Place winner. Congrats with a last second entry to Wade_Wilson 2nd place.
