US Construction and Haulage Inc. - Detroit Division HQ Started by: PeterMcNeil on Mar 15, '21 02:42

Detroit was a bustling city, prime for a criminality. The US Construction and Haulage Inc. was setup as a way of transporting goods, and people, across the country supplying construction needs and valuable assets to other businesses.  It was a legit business, taxes paid, everything done by the books... for the most part.  Behind the stable front of the operation was a seedy underbelly that supported organised crime.

Another division had already had been setup in Las Vegas pulling out food, various vegetables and meat, from thanks to the Dude Ranch that Peter had setup earlier.  Free labour was the cheapest in town, and nothing beats free in Vegas.

For every truck load of food being transported there was a nice hold carrying some more... let's say recreational items.  Your local gangster could only carry so much without suspicion and getting pinched, but a truck could carry a lot more with the right documentation in place.   It could even be a nice stealthy way for someone to get into, or out of, a city without any pesky plane tickets and FBI notifications.

The HQ for USCHI was a mammoth building, plenty of space for pallets of goods, cold storage and a truck depot allowing a fleet to dock and stock up.   In the back there was room for some other activities, an illicit bar and a safe house containing various bunks to allow mafioso to lay their heads down when they needed it.

The bar was stocked with booze taken off the top of loads imported into the US, some top class gear, and let's face it a percentage needs to be taken to bring it in.  Between the pay off to transport goods, sales from the bar, and money made from construction services allowing Detroit and other cities to grow it was great earner as people needed to move their product, regardless of it's legal status.

As he taking a walk down Grand River Avenue, Gen grabbed a newspaper and sat at a bench nearby. He began to read when he overheard a couple of men talking about a new place over by Corktown. Moments pass and Gen decides to visit this place.

It was a very clever way for a speakeasy. He had meet the owner. He heads inside and is directed to the entrance of the bar. He enters and sits down at the counter. The barkeep approaches him as Gen clears his throat.

"I will have glass of whiskey, please. Also, if you don't mind me asking, is the owner here I would like to meet him?"

"Genesiss, apologies, please accept this drink on the hou..."

Quickly noticing nobody was there Peter poured it out.  'A fresh one would be available for his kin' he thought to himself.
