You seem awfully agitated, Ms Orazia. I like that. A good speech invariably touches a few raw nerves, and without even referencing or talking to you directly, I have managed to elicit an emotional tirade of this magnitude. That pleases me.

In response, and to begin, I’m not really sure what role age plays in this, other than as an excuse for wanton petulance and impertinence? Are you genuinely suggesting that you are incapable of composing your thoughts and compiling your opinions into a compelling argument without a four day consideration period, because of your age? If so, one might wonder whether your age related decisiveness and efficiency could be considered a disadvantage in your current leadership role...

Furthermore, you speak of these numbers not being truly reflective, and should be averaged? Well, I can reliably inform you that these figures are indeed an average figure - representative of a seven day period. Perhaps that’s something you should already be aware of, given your current lofty position?

Regardless, should you consider my own research to fall short of your own standards, I would encourage you to submit weekly updates. That way you can calculate the mean figures and offer a sample you consider to be more reflective of the current standard. I would contend that is unnecessary, as a rolling weekly average gives us a good indication of “at desk” activity, but I would welcome your ongoing input in this regard.

Now, to the crux of your emotionally charged rant - accountability and my merits to speak on the matter. You reference the God’s communique as a silver bullet, without addressing any of the concerns I raised; I’ll try to do better and actually address the points you have raised.

Sure, the Gods don’t like us to be unnecessarily bloodthirsty, but aside from that, they are quite content to allow matters to progress as we see fit, as a society. So long as we are not needlessly sacrificing babies and young children, they remain appeased for the most part. My discussion on accountability centres around the various facets that are not generally considered by the Gods; activity, eloquence and responsibility - as discussed earlier. Perhaps if you find a moment, you could try to digest and actually address the points I did raise, instead of inventing ones I didn’t?

Lastly, you speak of “teaching” and “training” the next generation being the cause of the absenteeism? Well, I’m sorry to tell you, but a teacher isn’t much use if they’re not present. If they’re delegating their duties to their students from their holiday home, then they’re neither leading, nor teaching - they’re subcontracting the boring parts of the job; their responsibilities - and collecting far heftier tributes than the previous regime.

Seymour, I the fact is that leaders are only accountable to those above them.  And whilst at the top, well, that ends the journey.  Accountability does not easily work its way up a structure, but when a leader puts good people in place to delegate then that covers any shortfall.   That is the duty of any leader - to always have something in place.  It seems, to me, that things are running and in place, and despite your self-aggrandizing nothing will change as the majority are happy.

Last time I heard so many excuses it was a senate hearing broadcast.

Peter, I haven’t said anything self-aggrandizing. Quite the opposite actually. I have publicly stated that I am not willing to put in any effort, because I’m not a part of the other worldly clique that wipes active, thriving cities without explanation, expands into them with a smaller population then goes on an old country holiday. I’m simply verbalizing my observations.

Nevertheless, I think we - as a community - can, and should, expect better from our leaders than absenteeism and mutism. Perhaps you think me unreasonable, but I feel leaders should... y’know, lead.
