Ya know I thought the suggestion in the latest Knucklehead thing was pretty good. Knock over a business. So i find an open city, an establishment run by some lower ranked folks, and I even make sure no one high up is there to offend. I mean I really looked hard through at least 2 business's to find the place. Anyway I give the heist my best effort and what do I get?

The_Juice has been kicked!

Its laughable, no RP at all? Even from a real high ranker who walked in after? I want everyone's OOC opinion here not your damn persona, was I over the top? Did I offend? Is it a poorly done RP not worthy of response? I got to tell you that is probably the best I can do and over and over it gets ignored, perhaps its just not what MR is about?

So tell  me what you think, I will link the thread and paste the responses after my entry here.

The masked man busts into the pizza joint and fires a shot through the ceiling. Nobody move! I am sick and tired of shafting schlubs and knocking over post offices goddamn it! So today we try something new! Pettying Pizza Parlor Proprietors AND their Patrons! The masked man walks up the the counter. While we are at it, I need a large cheese pizza to go. The mans smile cant be seen behind the mask, but the Patrons sense he really likes cheese. Okay! You there chowing down! Fork over some dough!

Next time give me the word and I'll come armed with midgets, pliers and a blowtorch.

Don't give up as yet!

Rattle that pizza parlour a little more, chop of some fingers, toes whatever. Make it so you cant be ignored. People are firing guns here all the time your shot into the ceiling may have been mistaken for a stray champagne cork.

Take that Crew Leader hostage! I know she likes it rough, put a hole through the owners knee cap, watch him try and kick you then!

I can only speak for myself obviously, but I personally would have gone with it. That's not to say the owner of the business you were kicked from was wrong though. Just personal preferences I guess. I'm a big fan of anything unique or out of the ordinary on here but that's not to say others are. It's certainly not a bad RP, not doing any in-game harm to anybody, and I didn't find it to be inflammatory or troll-like. As far as being kicked for it, that's the perogative of the shop owner. In theory he could have kicked you for walking in and politely ordering a slice of pepperoni if he wanted to. It's the great American "We Reserve The Right" disclaimer :)

I'd imagine there are others out there that would be happy to go along with your RP concept though. It's definitely something you don't see people doing very often in the business districts. Would make for some interesting scenarios if you can find people to go along with it.

I've had the idea of pulling jobs on the businesses in the business district for awhile now.

When I planned it, I spoke to the guy who was running the business we intended to rob and explained to him how I would like it to go down. Ideally, it would be better if we didn't need to do that, but I figured that it would work out well if he knew what was coming and we could plan it accordingly. He was as keen as I was, because it was something a little bit different, which could end up being pretty fun. Unfortunately we never got round to finalising the details, so it never happened.

Seeing what you've done opens up all sorts of great scenarios for follow up posts, but as our Don states, some people aren't into that sort of thing. This game breeds entirely different sorts of people and it is diverse enough to allow many different playing styles to be incorporated within it. If it was up to me, I would make it a condition of every one of my guys to demonstrate the originality they had in the ability to pull off these sorts of jobs, or conversely defend successfully from an attack, with realistic consequences. But it isn't up to me and I know a lot of people around here would fucking hate to have to do something like that. That's fine, I get that and accept it.

I think a lot of what the reaction boils down to is the misconception with the business district as a whole. These are intended to be fronts or rackets, which we utilise to launder money or gain protection money from. We shouldn't physically be behind the counter, cleaning glasses or serving out pizza. If you approach the business district from the more realistic perspective, then you're presented with some great options. These guys are infringing on our turf, how do we respond? Do we retaliate? Do we knock over some of their operations in response? How does our Don feel about one of his joints being put out of business?

It could escalate into anything we wanted it to be, culminating in conflict, bans, money being exchanged in order to make things right; maybe even Capos or Captains being called in to orchestrate a sit down and get business flowing again. These things needn't be life threatening to be fun, they could be a way of embellishing upon the crimes that we already indulge in. All of those scenarios could be played out brilliantly through the forums, adding depth to everyone's characters, bringing a new element to the game and hell, letting off a little steam and acting like mobsters.

This is a roleplaying game, which was once entirely based on the forums. The only thing preventing things like this taking place is the desire of the users not to do so. You've convinced me to take this up again, so I have an idea of how I intended this to work last time and I believe it could still play out pretty well. The business districts on the whole are pretty generic and I reckon this is a viable, realistic way of spicing them up.

Thanks for the input folks. Chuckle, I appreciate your well thought out, if long winded response. I admit not having considered the desire of the proprietors NOT to participate, I wonder if my desire to RP in an RP game shouldnt just outweight it. On the few occasions I have tried to actually orchastrate a similiar sitiuation they usually ended up how your recent attempt did, a non happening. I also tried to stay on the funny side: "fork over the dough", haha, I kill me. And feel I would have been deft enough to avoid any real issue's. Please count me in on any orchastrated heists you come up with sir.

Sexybeast, I like Evilclowns reply better than yours.

To be honest, I read the OP and fancied ordering a Pizza and a drink for starters as I was bored. I started my reply with "now this is my kind of place" as there had been trouble afoot.... over 6hrs prior to my arrival.

If you want to RP in something like this, its best to have it co-ordinated a little at least, either with the owner as others suggest or with other prospective patrons. I fail to see why I should have jumped in with your earlier attempt to rob a place when the owner had ignored it. For all I know, yourself and the owner are friends and it was your attempt at light hearted humour while ordering that slice of pizza you craved.

Kudos for trying, though. If you fancy something else along the lines in another time and place, I'd be more than happy to assist.

Well a quick trip to LA pretty much answers my question. My play style is rabble rousing and troublemaking. Here I thought I was a crimminal and it turns out I am just supposed to order pizza or poporn. Been real Sexy, real short that is. <salute> Chuckle, I was almost starting to like you.

Well, I'm damned sure that if you walked into my fine establishment, guns drawn, demanding money, I would kick you out, too. As long as I knew what would happen and if I knew it would be a good rp, not just 'I walk in guns drawn, shoot a hole in the roof, and demand cash,' then I might allow it. And even then, probably not to some random person.
