Make Businesses Matter Started by: Crawford on Jun 11, '11 18:23

This is relatively simple. I love the business district, but as certain other people have alluded to in the past, it doesn't really make sense for people in the mafia to be running their own businesses as merely actual businesses, when in reality they were fronts/covers for money laundering. Let's make them matter, and reward the people that actually put the effort into creating and maintaining a good, active business.

Here's my proposal: If an "active" business (for suggestions sake, let's say it has 3 roleplayed posts within the last 48 hours), then the owner of the business automatically receives 100K per day and the Godfather of that city receives 100K per day.

To balance the idea of people spamming businesses, there will be a maximum of 8-10 businesses available per city, which can only be set up with permission from the Godfather.

More realistic, more RP, and it makes the business district matter.

I totally see your point and where your coming from. But then again, there weren't 8-10 businesses in "real-life". With the suggestion of having the Godfather give permisson. Then, what happens to the people who get promoted to Business Managers of that city. Are they simply now jobless. I mean, the Godfather has to more important things to do than rather than giving out permission for businesses to run in their city. That's why they hire the "Business Managers".

However, I like the idea of having the business owner and the godfather getting paid. Maybe not so much the godfather but the buisness owner will definitely find that their getting a decent reward out of it. And will evidently, bring a lot more people to the business district. Hopefully, lol. ;D

There weren't 8-10 businesses per city in real life, but there was some maximum number of potential "fronts" I'm sure, before they could not be hidden any longer. Or a limit of space within the actual city. This would stand into that limit.

And if a Godfather could earn 100K per day, per business, I'm sure he would take more of a personal interest in deciding who gets to run one of his "business fronts". Perhaps the new role of the business manager will be to monitor the business fronts and ensure continued activity and peak efficiency?

Obviously, I'm not deadset on any particular number here. Perhaps it would be 100K for the person running the business per day and 50K for the Godfather? Or the person owning the business would make like 150K and the Godfather would demand X per day as "protection"?

Can't really see how this would be a bad thing.

Bro, I agreed with most of the things you said. I just DISagreed on the whole Godfather choosing businesses etc. If anyone wants to run a business, so be it. As long as the godfathers making some money then hey... added bonus for them.

on the RP side, the GF doesn't give a crap if you open a buisness or not as long as he gets a cut of it's profit...

yet, unless you have the most expensive bar in the world... I am pretty sure that 3 posts (3 customers) wouldn't spend more than 1k at such a business so tt much!!

Only way I see this to work is to actually make the posts cost cash... each post cost a random from 100 to 300 $ (  on the rp side the player pays as customer / and the business owner pays for the expenses of that buisness thus leveling it out)

The more posts you get the more cash you make. you might as well reply to several posts in one so that you'r business wont lose cash but gain some and a random tax goes for the crew leader
