If there was one thing that JackMiller learned from being in a business-minded crew named For The Brand and the Black Thursday market crash, it was that a businessman must always diversify his portfolio or have all the metaphorical eggs in his one basket smashed by unforeseen circumstances. So when he found the opportunity to cheaply acquire a struggling real estate agency in Detroit, he immediately pounced on it. The agency, named Scott Brown Realty, was on its death throes after the recent stock market crash drove property prices up and obliterated its customer base. A few weeks away from foreclosure, Jack took it from the brink of bankruptcy back to being a respectable establishment once again through a potent combination of a few backdoor deals, a bribe here and there, and a couple of 'friendly visits' paid to competitors. Several months removed from breathing new life into his company, JackMiller sat on his office, tapping his foot to a rhythm only he knew while he stared at the telephone on his desk. He was awaiting a very important phone call that evening so when it finally rang, he grabbed the receiver as fast as he can, almost knocking the entire thing over in the process. Instead of hearing the voice of one of his esteemed superiors in the criminal underworld, he was instead greeted by the voice of his secretary. "Sorry to bother you, sir," she meekly apologized, "I'm calling to let you know that the paperwork has been processed and that all of the signs and advertisements have been replaced in compliance with our rebranding." JackMiller mouthed a quick thank you, dismissed her, and placed the receiver back down. That brief exchange dissipated the tense concentration he maintained while awaiting the big call and it also reminded him to get up and get a couple stretches in. Once he was done with the stretches, he figured he might as well make himself comfortable and light a cigar or two while he waited so he grabbed one from the ornate box on his desk. He settled back into his seat with a cigar on his hand and a lighter on the other. As he was about to light the cigar, the telephone started ringing again. He couldn't help but laugh. Circumstance wanted to mess with him that badly today, it seemed. He then answered the telephone and sure enough, it was the voice he was waiting to hear. "It's time," it declared and the line quickly went dead. JackMiller put the receiver down and took a leisurely stroll out of his office, making sure to take everything in. The company's reception area was immaculately clean and the brand new furniture wasn't too shabby either. He couldn't help but smile knowing that all of this, this establishment's new beginning, came from his own careful planning and effort. Jack flashed the same smile at the receptionist at the counter, threw a quick greeting his way, and sauntered his way outside. He took a moment to step back and admire the changes to the building's exterior: a fresh coat of paint covering up the wear and tear that this building used to have and the new signage proudly announcing the company's name change. Jack filled up the paperwork for the change itself as he believed that a new label would be a fitting way to celebrate this new chapter in his career, both careers. And Scott Brown wouldn't be limiting itself to realty now, he had bigger and grander plans for this lowly real estate agency and he was going to make them happen. Jack had been wanting to do this since he set his plans for this company in motion so he did the honors himself. He turned over the small sign hanging at the entrance doors to the building, admired the handiwork on the sign for a brief second, and made his way back inside. The small sign read:

McAfee watches as his long time friend Jack Miller turns the sign on his very own operation, McAfee remembered back to days when they were both young Wise Guys and how far they had come together. He smiled a real happy genuine smile, and claps his hands to get the attention of those around. " My Dear friend Jack, allow me to be the first to congratulate you I can think of no one more deserving of this opportunity than yourself. You're one of the hardest working mobsters I've ever had the pleasure of working with. From the time we were young men running protection in the Bronx from Godfather Chairman Giyu, to us moving together it has always been a good time. You're someone I'm grateful has been beside me for most of my life. " Pat reaches over for a beer and raises. " Long Live Scott Brown Industries!" |

Luna gracefully walked up to her boss who she was second in command to, and gave her best smile, giving him a slap on the back that was full of charisma. She giggled and spoke. "Congratulations, partner. I'm looking forward to working alongside you and the future endeavours of this agency. Long Live Scott Brown Industries!" She joined in with McAfee as she raised her drink, eyes twinkling with joy. The journey to where they were now, despite the difficulties and challenges, was definitely beyond worth it. From the renovations, to the few negotiations that almost put the business in great risk. Though she knew that it was already a major risk from the day of revival knowing that their competitors felt the real pressure now. Amongst all the cheerful chatter, Luna had in the back of her mind the bigger plans Scott Brown Industries had yet to execute. Luna continued chatting with the fellow Detroiters, and suddenly spotted the face she wanted to greet earlier. "Great to have you on board Seraph. I'm excited for what we achieve together." |
