Taking Out the Laundry Started by: Paul_Klint on Jun 21, '11 02:36

Slamming down the receiver, Paul exists the phone booth and takes a step to the curb as he lights a smoke carefully against the whipping wind as it beats down upon him.  Standing on the corner of an intersection serving empty streets, Paul smoked his cigarette nervously as he clutched his trench coat tightly around his frame.  Passing wayward glances over to his vehicle parked across the street, his thoughts tumbled tumultuously in his head over the incident a few hours back.

Having found the good graces to afford himself a night off from work, Paul thought back to arriving at his Lower Ninth Ward apartment earlier after a game of cards with some friends. As he carelessly flung his entry door open Paul stopped dead in his tracks as he entered, his gaze fixated squarely on the floor before him.  The man that had shot his bodyguard, having obviously gotten away Scot free, had left his poor departed servant in his doorway sprawled out face down in a pool of his own blood hovering precariously close to the latest shipment of questionable merchandise slated for exportation next Tuesday at the local dock. Not wanting to press the face value of his 'charitable donations' to the local police force, Paul thought quick and shut the door.

Paul slowly and carefully wrapped the corpse in the Persian rug his former employee had unfortunately chosen to expire upon as he cursed his name loudly.  Letting out a grunt as he heaved the dead weight over his shoulders, Paul kicked the door to his apartment ajar as he made his way over the his car, nodding nonchalantly to passer-bys as he went his own way.   Evening ladies.  What? This!?  Oh you know, spring cleaning and all....Paul chuckled to himself as they looked back gawking.

Paul continued to the car as he opened the trunk, throwing the body inside as he watched it curl up into an amorphous lump next to his spare.  As he slammed the trunk loudly, Paul checked his surroundings assuring his beleif once again that no one was watching as he hopped back into his vehicle and sped off into the night to the place where he always carries out business matters such as this, South Square Algiers.

Martyr looked down at her watch and tapped her foot on the ground. Paul had called her earlier saying he needed a bit of help with some disposal needs and she agreed to help him. That line of work wasn't what she had planned for a Monday night at all but she had always offered her help and Paul had finally asked for it.

His phone call was very short so she wasn't quite sure what to expect when she saw his car approach and come to a sudden hault right at her feet. She pursed her lips as she placed her hand on the hood of the car.

Trying to run me over huh? She light a smoke as she stepped around the side of the car. I don't suppose that's what happened to this poor person was it? Her fingers traced down the side of the car as she reached the trunk and watched as Paul stepped out of the car. He seemed to tower over her small stature as he slid the key in the trunk and popped it open.

God.. Paul.. She looked at the ruined rug as the blood had already began to almost penetrate through it. Plastic wrap hun.. Plastic wrap.. She walked over to her car hurriedly and popped the trunk and grabbed some plastic tarp out of the it and then she quietly shut it back down. Never leave home with out it. And you ruined your wonderful rug. I rather liked that rug. Could have given it to me instead of waste it on a dead body.

She watched as Paul gave her a glare at her bitching and then picked up the body and looked at the plastic. Martyr.. You going to help or stand there? He looked at her as he held the heavy body barely over the trunk, and she grabbed the wrapping and laid it down on the floor of the trunk a bit slowly trying to make sure that she covered all of the carpeting in the car trunk and also because she enjoyed watching Paul get a bit frustrated at her.</em.

As he released the body back into the trunk, Paul took the plastic wrap from Martyr and wrapped it around the body again and again as he encased it in a solid layer of material. God damn this guy is heavy!  That's what I get for letting him take the buffet line every time I go out for lunch I guess. My next hire damn well better be a runner.  As he whipes the sweat from his brow, Paul extinguishes his smoke on the cold concrete scattering sparks that spread out fading away quickly into ash.  With great effort he lifts the oversized bum once again over his shoulder and nods his head towards Martyr. Help me haul this patsy to the docks, I'm sure the sharks will be happy this time to finally get something worth their effort!

Watching as Martyr gets behind him he angles the body down for his friend to help carry the load.  Remind me next time to get you some high-heels for your birthday coming up in case something like this happens again.  He winks and laughs as she gives him a swift kick in the pants prompting the two of them to continue down to the pier.

Martyr clutches the wrapped body in her graps as she lets out a huff. Why in the hell do I get the head? She grumbles a bit as she stars to walk and winces a bit as she feels her finger nails dig in the wrapping. Not wanting to sound to whiny she bites her lip as she slowly trudges off the pavement and onto the damp grass.

You better get me something more then a pair of heels for this one. She takes a deep breath in as she suddenly loses her footing and slips in some mudd. Catching herself on her knee she stands back up and rolls her eyes at Paul who she can tell is holding back his laughter. Ya Ya.. Laugh it up. She blows some of the hair that had fallen down in her face away as the two made their way down the slippery slope.

I do hope you know who did this Paul? She stopped a bit to catch her breath. It's not easy to replace these guys you know, and I'll be the first to admit carrying them is a bitch. She started to move again when she looked up at Paul and noticed the expression on his face.

What is that look for?

Paul stared straight ahead blankly as he could see far in the distance a pair of mobsters heaving what appeared to be yet another finely adorned rolled up Persian rug off the pier.  Well all be damned! Must have been a sale over at Rug Muncher's Carpet Store last thursday, the whole town seems to be stocked!  Paul watches as Martry waves excitedly at the pair off the dock. Realizing she recognizes them, he watches as they dust off their hands and approach having completed a night's errand successfully.

As Zant and Melody threw the wrapped 'package' into the ocean, he couldn't help but notice that the package vanished surprisingly quickly under the blue. He softly remarks how deep it must be at this time. Zant stretches slightly and checks if his mask is on tightly. He was glad that the package wrapping was found in a dumpster. He looked around and noticed a shady pair with what must be another package. He sighed and commented. "I think this is the rush hour for these damned things." He motioned to Melody. "Y'know those two? I can't see that far."

Melody flipped the hair that hung over her eyes out of the way and took the smoke that was hanging in her mouth out. She took a drag than threw the rest into the water.

Wasted a good smoke.

Flattening out her jacket she looked in the direction that Zant had pointed too. She squinted a bit, rubbed her eyes and squinted again.

Well I'll be damned. It's Klint and lil Martyr. Almost looks like they're having a little trouble too. Should we help them our watch?

Mel laughed and waited for Zant to decide as she pulled out another cigarette and lit it.

Zant thinks for a moment, and decides to help. He motioned at the 2 standing at the entrance of the docks. By the quick looks of the package Klint and Martyr are carrying, he might have a few ideas in store.

Report Post Tip

Taking a few quick steps down the dock with Martyr fast behind, the two of them approach as they try to catch their breath.  Hey mates, fancy meeting you two here tonight.  I was wondering if you could give us a hand here with this big guy, he seems to have come down with an acute case of lead poisoning and it seems the only remedy is submersion into the depths of the ocean.  Paul plops the heavy load on the pier causing the wood beneath them to creak and crack with the sudden unexpected force.  Seems he's a bit much for a two man job getting him over that railing.

Zant looks down at the body for a solid few seconds and then looks back with an odd energy in himself. "This is a simple task. I don't see much reason if any at all to delay this package it's right to be sent." As cold as that sounded, Zant leans down quickly and grabs hold of one end of the package and drags it to the edge. Zant looks up once more to observe the surroundings, noticing a lot of alleyways and such around, he kept saying to himself that someone else is watching this small crowd. Zant tipped the body like a log on top of a hill. It delved into the deep blue ecstaticly, as if the ocean came alive to take the body. Zant looks up at the small group. "That takes care of that nasty bit of life." Zant turns somewhat away against the alleys, the feeling of being watched getting worse. "Everyone, I think it'd be best if we seperate, this is a bit too.. large to be unseen. Melody, I'll send you a small gift, Martyr, Klint, I'll speak to the both of you later, I noticed some things on how this was done. Until then, bye." Zant quickly looks around again and slips into one of the many dock warehouses.

Martyr looks around and then brushes off the dirt and mud from her hands and pants. Too messy of a job for me. Her voice wasn't much more then a whisper as she light herself a smoke and watched Zant dissappear out of sight. She did have the same feelings that he did and as she puffed on her smoke she looked around to see if she could see the eyes watching, but nothing seemed to be there.

You know Paul.. I have to agree with Zant on this one. Something seriously feels off. She looked off in the distance and shook her head abit.

Next time please make the body a little smaller? She let out an uneasy laugh as she too disappeared away from the scene and to her car.

I really hope my feelings and Zant's aren't right. She started up her car and quickly left to go back home.

Melody watched Zant and Paul dump the body. She puffed on her ciagrette when she notcied Zant get that look. She knew that look which sent a sudden chill down her spine as the brisk air of the night surrounded them. Taking a drag she eyed the same direction as Zant. He disappeared out of sight.

Well...this marks my departure too gentleman and lady.

Mel flicked her smoke to the ground and stomped it out than made her way back through and alleyway towards her car. She felt another shiver down her spine as she passed through the shadows, but only quickened her pace until she got to her car.

Report Post Tip

Paul stood alone on the pier overlooking the vast sea as large squalls battered fervently against the large wooden beams.  Lighting another smoke he turned around suddenly to hear the sounds of cars driving off into the into the distance.

I wonder if that was...

His words trail off as he shrugs shaking his head in uncertainty.

Not wanting to stick around and find out who that was, Paul decided to follow his friends in due fashion leaving the docks as he made his way to his own vehicle, wiping off the remnants of blood off the trunk before taking off the the HQ for a meeting about what had transpired that evening.
