Evening ladies and gentlemen. I am not the war general that my ancestors were, once upon a time, nor will I pretend to be. There's some basics to war that every man should know about, and a system to follow whenever you do dive headfirst into a bloody battle. There's ways to optimize your attack and if something does go astray, there's side plans to take to ensure the safety of yourself and those who follow your lead. When a war goes down, those on the opposing side usually get a little emotional. Don't lie and say you haven't been there. We all have at one point or another. And just like politics, there's a line in the sand and arguments come from both sides on what's effective or not effective. What's right and wrong. What's best for business and what's best for family. The initial reaction to death, like I have spoken about before, is bittersweet. But it is certainly an emotional trigger. So why did you die when you didn't even have your made man button within your family? I'm here to break it down, fellas. During a takedown, one of three things will happen. It will go perfect. Things don't go perfect. And lastly - things just get downright sloppy. I add that last one because it's truly a shitshow in it's own right. When things go perfect and the guns, upper structure, and major threats of the victims of war are dead: this opens the door to save lives at the attackers discretion. You will sometimes see protection orders for the living because the damage they can do is minimal, and thus, given a chance to make a different turn in their lives and find a new crime organization to be a part of. People in this stage are usually killed on accident, or were asking for it one way or another. This is purely on the leaders, however. A rule of thumb, but not absolute. You sign up for a family and if that family is removed, you are OWED nothing. Blood in and blood out. Real omerta. The way crime organizations should be structured, in my opinion. A protection order is a privilege, not a right. That's just the truth. When things don't go perfect, which is usually the case, then there's always the fallback. Whoever is left standing will fight back. And those under their leadership are known to aid them in that fight. Which is understandable and you can't fault anyone swinging to go down with the ship. It's quite admirable. And that's why you could be only a wise guy within your city and still face the fate we all do eventually. It's clearly the smart tactic, and if you ever find yourself in a position of power one day going into a war, you will see why you have to kill the lower structure of a family sometimes. When things get sloppy? Well, that's just entertainment at its best. There's usually no rule of thumb at all whenenver this happens. And if you bitch about dying with your family, regardless of your position or rank, I have no respect for you anyway. Don't complain about going down with the ship. That's what you signed up for whenever you joined this world of ours. Don't be gutless enough to value your own life over those of your family, then have the audacity to complain about it. My 2 cent, really. So that's why you're under made man and why you died. You're still an asset to your former family and the side of the war you should be fighting on. I am New York. Blood in and blood out. Regardless if I was a gangster or a Don. Would love to hear any opposing opinions…. |

Ignorance is a good word for it, Spike. Almost every time the argument is used, it's invalid. Are their circumstances where it could be applied? Sure, but that also relies on a smooth performance. It's literally the turning point that could turn an 8 hour war into a couple days if you don't play your cards right. I like to chalk it up to being in the heat of the moment, and lashing out at any weakness you think you can find. That, or inexperience. Very inexperienced members of this world might think this is the way it should be in theory, but the reality isn't so black and white. And Swagg, it's absolutely a privilege. No one is ever OWED protection just because of their age or rank. I use the word "owed" a lot in this sense because people seem entitled to it. And the last person who needs to feel entitled to anything is a lower ranking member of the mafia. If the made men and over aren't owed anything, they sure as hell aren't. It depends on who is leading the charge and the reason behind it, in my opinion. Some cases the whole city has to die and very little cases, they don't. You choose your leadership. You die with your leadership. No gray area there. |

Couldn't agree more if my family was killed off and even if i was a thug id want to go down with em because when i joined i gave my loyalty 100% to them i don't want a pass or to whine or moan about being low ranked im part of that family so they're fate is mine but that's just me. |

This may seem like it has nothing to do with the topic at hand, but once I bit into one of those lead batteries. Now as we all know lead is one of the safest things that one can consume, accidentally or otherwise, so when I put that bastard in between my teeth and started gnawing I knew that whatever happened in the next few moments was between me and my God and I'll tell you what, for a little while I swear I saw him beckoning me towards those pearly gates but at the final moment someone tore me right off of that son a bitch and I was rearing to go when I turned around and punched him square in the jaw, then I found out it was my old buddy Vinny and we laughed and laughed about it till the early morning. Now, what does that have to do with any of this? A lot. Sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do and if you don't have a Vinny to come pull you from out of the muck then you're about to ingest a lot of fucking lead, which honestly isn't that big of a deal. I've done it plenty of times so far and I think that I'm a better man for it. What I'm trying to say is, during a war. Things happen. A lot like an afternoon with a battery and your two last working teeth. Luckily now that I have more money coming in, I have a few wooden ones like my favorite president John Quincy Adams. A good little conversation, it was nice to break open the ole debators, he pulls out his teeth and chomps them a few times for added effect. |

Shoresy just finished ripping some reps out and he came across an old as time debate, nonetheless it was still one worth having. Time can sometimes change perceptions, and different people involved can lead to different discussions. In light of his mailbox getting sprinkled with nasty telegrams from spiteful kin, he thought it might be worth opining. He put on his blades and picked up a twig and biscuit and dirty dangled his way down to the streets.
"Honestly, I think the anger towards wiseguys and below falling is misdirected. It's just grasping at straws over the sadness of losing their kin in the war. You're gonna tell me you lived the mobster life with no blood on your hands? Get outta here."
"If an earner can't survive a takedown to see another day - then they're clearly doing something wrong. It ain't hard. If someone needs help in that regard - please message me. I'm happy to help them learn a few tricks. But - for someone to think that they're immune from bullets because they aren't made? Please. Give me a break. We all have our tilly's differently here in the mobster underworld - but if I'm in a scrap - why am I gonna leave someone who could pro a gun that can hurt someone in my family? It's not worth the risk to my mates. You best be gettin' the fuck outta my way - or bad things are gonna happen to you."
Shoresy pulled the biscuit back and snapped a rocket off a street sign before blading off to the nutritional supplement store. |

That guy with the awkward name knows he is called a wise guy and wishes that could be his actual name..... There is a consideration of balance here outside of the defined below made man. War i war it isn't pretty. The savvy on both sides of the attacking and those being taken down need skills to make the desired outcome the best it can be, sounds odd I will explain.... We see very old wise guys wandering the streets....this has been a choice by a crew leader for a reason which might not always be - I'm just not sure yet whether to push your man button prove yourself more. It can be the opposite they have more than proved themselves and through age and likely generations of knowledge become valuable regardless of the rank official title. A wise guy also may hold much more knowledge about the family and wider matters than is traditional for this official title - they may even be influential in the choices and actions taken by the family. Strip away the title and then you might be dealing with an effectively RHM.
This could work either way though, take them out that works and then as mentioned we wait for the crying babies off the boat. Another is if a skilled crew leader can use this information to their greater good in terms of insight and info - this is always a tricky topic and of course carries risk. They likely will still be in contact with kin of the lost but a skilled CL can make these 'wise guys' a valuable asset to their own crew. To be blunt even if it is only to gather information and then some kind of wack from above unless they have gained the trust of the new crew leader and certainly without owning a gun and a good monitoring of their mailbox each day etc. Sounds harsh...yep killing them works, sometimes you get nuggets of gold from these people too if you work things the right way.
As for the crying babies off the boat, we all turn our radios up and wait for the crying to stop, amongst the crying and tantrums though we do get glipses of maybe a different side to the story or explanation told which can be an effective way to debate it out. Sadly the streets don't seem to work that way anymore. My parents can recall babies with fascinating documents that conflicted stories told that they had made into posters to put everywhere, that was rather interesting, banking documents landed on the streets and privately recorded conversations were published. Sounds messey - it should be, it's war right. Sometimes the war of words after the guns cool is almost as dramatic as the take down itself. |

beasty steps up to the soapbox yet again. "This is a difficult subject, to be sure. On one hand there are some that are just trying to make their way in the world. On the other there ppl that, even at wise guy rank are damn good shots, and are willing to exact revenge on those that went to war on there families. I think we are missing another totally legitimate reason for the killing of wise guys and below.... This being that the aggressors of the war are asked by their wise guys and under if they can participate or gain some experience by taking part in a war. That, to me, makes the most sense. If bosses or higher are cleaning up wise guys and lower, yeah that seems bad. Although lets not forget that the "new guys" need experience in war too, if theyre going to be a part of a family, not to mention, earn theyre stripes. Just food for thought.
