At the stand, Ally was questioned with haste. Questions back-to-back that reminded her of the night that her boyfriend got shot twice in the chest and once through the skull. Blood had spattered all over the bedroom curtains. She clearly had the image in her mind of the man who killed her lover. Distraught no doubt, but she was more so filled with a fire of rage in her heart that could only be put out by vengeance. Another question from the prosecutor woke her up from her thoughts. She cleared her throat quietly and raised her voice to answer the question.
“Is the man who committed the murder of your boyfriend here in this court room right now? Can you please point to him?”
“Y-yes. He’s sitting over there,” she replied shakily and lifted her index nervously, directing it towards the man seated at the defense attorney’s table.
“Your Honour, this is the same man involved in a string of organized crimes here in New York city. This civilian murder is only the tip of the iceberg. And may the people present exhibit A…”
She couldn’t even look at him because she was so afraid that she might end up attacking him. Even the knowledge of his presence made her fume. But with all the questions, Ally couldn’t handle the stress of having to relive the last moments of her lover’s death. She failed to hide behind her blanket of hair and the tears started travelling down her cheek. The judge noticed this, and he looked at the prosecutor and looked back at her. “You’re dismissed Ally, you may go back to your seat now.”
The jury came to a guilty verdict, of course. The killer ended up accepting a plea deal, but it just wasn’t enough for Ally. She wanted to torture the man, make him feel ten times the pain she was experiencing. She was alone with her dog, no home and no money.
For so long she held a grudge against the mobs of New York. Home now were refuge centers, dangerous alleyways and abandoned sheds. Until one night she was approached by a man named Genovese. A job offer that would change her life forever. She really didn’t know what to expect. |

After overcoming the initial fear of being welcomed into an organization she had no clue about, Ally forced herself to have an open mind. For so long she promised to herself that she would never turn to the other side, but here she was, a participating associate of Titans in New York. Weeks later, she knew there was no turning back. Not that she was afraid to leave, but because she knew too much now. And running organized crimes became a thrill for her. She slowly found herself getting to know who the big bosses were and how a drug deal in the streets work. The rush of adrenaline was her outlet for the anger she had pent up since the death of her lover.
One night when she was chilling by the fire at her apartment, her eyes focused on the flames that made those familiar crisp sounds. A thought ran through her mind. What if she could turn back time and go through life without having her husband killed, would she still be successful as she was today?
She shook her head trying to erase the thought away because she knew that she had to go through what she went through to be able to stand so fearlessly now. Still, every memory of her lover pained her each morning knowing he wasn’t there beside her in bed.
The next morning she was bright and early at the Titans HQ. She was given more tasks, one of them being to deliver a message to a hot shot casino boss. While he got to run his business and steal money from people’s pockets, the mafia offered him protection. The mafia had done their duty, but this boss’ payment was way beyond the due date. She visited the casino and brought some muscle along with her just in case the situation would turn into a brawl.
“Look, I’m sorry Angelo-”, the boss cried out to one of the muscle men accompanying Ally.
And just when Ally didn’t think he was gonna say another word, he started going on a rant. The strong Bronx accent shined through, which made it all the more entertaining.
“Angelo, I got the feds up my fuckin’ ass and one of the pit managers are banging two of my showgirls at the same time. I forgot about the payment, so I’m sorry, okay Angelo? Trying to balance everything…”
OOMPH!
The boss grunted as he fell to the floor, holding his nose as it poured blood. People in the casino fled from the scene and their gasps followed. Angelo had thrown his fist in the boss’ face and looked over him disappointingly. “You got one day Angelo to figure it out. The money better be on my boss’ fuckin’ table or else you’re dead. You hear me?” |
