Demon once again dusts off his poor old soapbox, and sets it in front of him in the street climbing ontop as the old thing creeks and groans.

"You really do need some love old podium of mine."

Demon chuckles to himself, watching a small crowd gather once again before him, he yawns, checking his time piece.

"Hello esteemed occupiers of these old streets, gentlemen, working gals, and wynos alike. Today I bring a topic before you I don't think has been mentioned at least not lately... I was reading some of my ancestors journals, and I noticed something. Once upon a time friendly competitions played a major part in this world. Based on my studies I've come to understand that weekly and monthly crew, and district competitions were a very common thing, they helped build up capital for families, and often encouraged young members to come to the streets, and occupy businesses, open their eyes to the world a little. However after reading Journals written by my much closer lineage I have noticed that these types of events are increasingly rare, not to say no one does them, but that they are no longer common place in most families and crews. I myself have not seen many, and my fathers lack mention of any, as well as his fathers. Why has this wonderful tradition gone the way of the horse driven carriage and become rare to see in our beautiful world these days? I suppose I'll leave you with that questions."

Demon looks around the crowd inviting speakers, and adjusting his oversized flannel shirt.

PilotPhil looked at DemonHermano's oversized shirt before he inspected at his own smart, tight, Phil Airlines shirt. He looked up to see DemonHermano's shirt again. Unwillingly, PilotPhil shook his head.

With a Sorry, my thoughts were off for a moment, he started replying to DemonHermano's speech.

Correct me if I am wrong, but being a Left Hand Man, you are in a pretty good position to start one yourself. Go lobby around, work out an idea, or ask someone to do so.. Get your funding for prize money the same way, or invest in it yourself. Be creative! A good idea should bring in enough to motivate people to give their very best at whatever it is you are organizing. Hypothetically, with a little luck, and a good plan, the sky is the limit, you might even see an airline enterprise add to the sponsoring..

PilotPhil winked, lowered his voice and said

..I am not speaking of Montgomery's little water-plane Pan Am company here..

Smiling, he added

I am pretty sure, partly because I have already seen some blueprints, that some brilliant mind currently is working hard on filling the emptiness you experience. From what I have seen, it might even be rather spectacular..

I like this conversation DemonHermano. 

I think it has gone on the way side because people are lazy and don't want to invest the time or energy into hosting one or finding judges or gathering prizes. Also,  When I look in my family journals I see a lot of mention of competitions being planned and set up and invitations sent out to participate then there are no participants. This discourages those who do set up and run the competitions. 

 Currently my Crew leader has a competition. So, I know Los Angeles does this stuff. I also know that the last Family that was just taken down in  LV/LA was always doing competitions for their crews and they also did inner city competitions.  And the last Family that was taken out of DT hosted competitions, actually they were killed while they were hosting a world  wide competition.

You do not see too many Crew leaders offering this, and it is important for many reasons.

It helps break the monotony of always pulling the jobs over and over again increasing activity within the family.  It helps your city and your crew grow stronger, with the prizes of cash or credits or even training in some perk exercise.  It helps to build that team atmosphere among the crew especially if you make the competition to encourage internal friendly competition. It also helps the crew learn how to work with each other. It helps people learn how to learn to deal with conflicting ideas, along with learning how to interact with different personalities. And how todo risk assessment.  

Demon nods his head as the duo take their turns speaking.

"I started a competition a few days ago actually PilotPhil, and our crew is pretty small so it's not exactly the worlds biggest ever, but it certainly has had a positive effect on the team! I am a firm believer in being the change you would like to see in the world. I also agree with all of your points Ryant like I said I didn't ever think they were truly extinct just increasingly rare, and I was wondering why, as far as my ancestors paint there memories they were always a great time, and they brought everyone closer, allowed some friendly competition and gave everyone from the little thug all the way up to the more senior members a goal to work towards other then that next unit level. I hope we can set a new precedent with the way we all choose to lead for the positive."

Demon smiles politely responding to the duo, and nodding his head affirming with what they both had to say.
