Ask The Squirrel God - Q & A Started by: Ratatoskr on Jun 23, '21 19:13

The small rodent was slowly becoming used to this world he had found himself in. Gone were the days of running up and down Yggdrasil carrying messages between friends, of being revered, feared and cooed over by men and women alike. Somehow this traveler had found himself as far from home as any had, and Odin had not yet seen fit to find a way to bring him back, so he was going to make the best of it. At first this was befriending creatures, some with two legs, some with four. Then it was the delicious alcohol they had in this world, the bathtub gin may have a few curly hairs in it, but it did the job and put some additional nuts in his sack.

But for one such as he; a small, furious, and devastatingly handsome Squirrel god, it would not do to sit idly drinking and peeking up skirts of the bipedal, nay. He was old, he was wise before most were born and he had wisdom to share with the good people of this world, even if they did not want to hear it.

Ratatoskr dragged a small table that he had found in Olivia's old belongings and set up a makeshift stand atop a plinth of a statue of Odin, or at least what these people thought he looked like. With a smirk, he thought about how ugly Odin really was, and as if his mind was being read the thunder crashed and streaks of lightening lit a warning to the creature, "Alright, alright. I get it." Ratatoskr said waving his hands in a "calm down" motion towards the sky.

Moving the table and chair so it was perfectly placed he hung a tiny sign at the front of it, "Ask a Squirrel God" it read, and under it in smaller print, "Payment of dirty gin, underpants and nuts accepted." although most would have to bend down and squint in order to read anything. Time passes, and thoughts of his tree and favorite branches pass through his mind, and realizing he wasn't going to get anywhere with this attitude he jumped atop the dolls table and shouted, "Behold! I am the small Smiter, the Devine danger, Rodent with the wrath, the roaring Ratatoskr!"

"Come to me humans, come to me with your questions, quandaries, curiosities and kumquats. A small fee will need to be paid, respect shall be given and then the answer will be revealed to you * and all will be well, for I am a GOD!" he shouted just as thunder rumbled again, his body leaping forward in surprise.

It had been days since the last customer graced the door of her office, and she was certain the people were to blame and not herself. But before making any snap judgements about the cheapness of her fellow men, she wanted the opinion of a wise, small and furry god. She had heard that a small area had been put aside for the rodent, and he was answering questions regardless of what they were. So she thought she'd go get her answers there.

Arriving at the base of the Odin statute she curtsied, or at least tried to. Damn difficult to do in trousers. "Not sure if that is what you do.." Grace said to Ratatoskr with a sheepish smile, "Given that the only time we speak is usually a drink or two in at a bar somewhere." With a wave of her hand, "Nevermind, my question for you.." she said to him.

"I have a passion for creating and building," she said to him, "I believe you've stopped by my offices. I love making businesses, houses and just cities come to life. I feel like I am fucking brilliant at it as well, and while I have yet to actually charge any fees for my latest work, people are not flocking to my door as I had assumed they would."

With a defeated sigh she finally asked plainly, knowing the creature had a short attention span and she had already rambled on quite a bit, "Why are people not taking advantage of my brilliance in creating?"

The Squirrel god looked thoughtfully at Grace and nodded his head in what he hoped looked like a wise manner

'well your question raises more questions than answers but I shall give you the answer you require which comes in 3 points.  Firstly, people are in awe of your creativity and feel threatened to respond for fear they look less than.  People tend to feel this way when conversing with a godly prescence such as I.  Secondly, we're in a depression, people cannot afford such luxuries as you provide and thirdly and perhaps most importantly, too many words.

this is my judgement, feel free to drop some nuts into the bowl'

Patting down her pockets she started to feel panic, "Nuts?" she asked the small Ratatoskr with a frown. "I didn't...I assumed..." she pulled her notebook out of her bag and quickly scribbled on the paper, "IOU 1 Drink and 3 Nuts - Grace" before folding it up and placing it in the bowl. "Your words are wise, and I suspected as much, but I wanted to confirm what I thought with one such as you." Grace said.

"Assuming you accept beverages as compensation, are you willing to ask another question or two?" she asked hopeful.
