Who is the greatest batsmen ever?

I'd just be interested in learning just what Cricket is and if anyone knows the rules.

And, why does it take so long to play?

I enjoy watching cricket (even if my country is useless). I prefer to watch tests matches because it isn't just who is better on the day it's who is better on the 5 days.

Greatest batsman ever? I think there are a few:

Bradman, Tendulkar, Lara, Richards, Border, Waugh, Ponting, Kallis, Dravid just to name a few

I was lucky enough to be at Melbourne for 98 all out, and then onto Sydney to watch us wrap up the Ashes. Cost over £3,000 but was well worth it.

Greatest bastmen is hard to say. It is impossible to not say Sir Donald Bradman. With an average of 99.9, he changed the way the game has played. However, like with football, it is important to seperate the historic era, and the modern era.

This still makes it hard. I love Tendulkar, but he has been massivly aided in India by bat friendly pitches and India just working hard to ensure he stays number one. Then I look at the likes of Sir Viv Richards. He played with such ease, such excitment. When they came to the crease, you knew something special was about to happen.

The IOC recently announced their top 3 batsmen of all time:

1)Bradman

2) Tendulkar

3) Richards

I think that is probably just about right. My favourite player to watch atm though is Ali Cook.

Must be nice pretending to represent a country and deem it 'just a job...' FIGJAM should be dropped for a 5th bowler...

I am English through and through. I even got a tattoo to prove it. As for FIGJAM. Those Aussies have never been that witty. I will score at least three centuries against the Indians this summer in the tests.

England will beat India and become the worlds best test playing nation. Batting if fairly equal, although the English batsemn will be better in the swinging bouncey conditions, yet Englands bowlers are much better, I just cant see In dia bowling us out.

Broad, Anderson, Swan, Tremlett, Finn, Onions, Bresnan. That is tremendous strength in depth

You compare this to Harbajhan (always overratted), Khan (crocked) and the new kid Kumar (sp?), I just cant see India getting 20 wickets. Especially when Dhoni has to bowl!

I expect a tight series....both teams are good.

England are confident...india are experienced (not in bowling dept.)

this has been a one sided contest.....england clearly the better team
