They didn't have to say it but the look of lost hope in their eyes said everything that needed to be said. The people missed him. The people needed him. It was only right to give the people what they wanted.

In this life we live? There's no guarantee that you'll wake up the next morning. Shit, there's no guarantee you'll even make it across the street after this speech. I believe the highest form of soap opera, barbershop, high school gossip skills are used when a rogue is present, or when a city falls. There used to be a time where the victor would deliver either between the most witty or uptight, and even some cases, most comedic speeches for the sake of one thing: telling the world a watered down version of why a city filled with organized crime was now the newest graveyard of this thing of ours.

Every syndicate or household of power operates differently. Some go by the code and keep things within "the family." Some others go by the books and deem many as unworthy of information due to rank/relationship. Some can't wait to tell the world. And some? Well some just don't give a fuck about giving a speech. Why? Because waking up the next day and seeing them walk down the street says more than any speech could ever say.

So I come to you. People of the streets. What do you deem as a great War/cleanup speech?

Ultimately no matter what is written, or indeed not written, it will not please everyone.  This has been shown time, and time, and time, and time again.  Just a simple explanation and walking away seems to be the most appropriate, as anything further delves into discussion, counter-arguements from the fallen's kin, and other randoms that want to have a quick input.

I deem a great speech to be something of honesty but as times have changed over the years, I feel like the speech after a large takedown or war can be used as a tool. What could be said in those speeches could be used to bring people together to rebuild, to write your own history or legacy, or even to just satisfy the population as a check in the box. It is really up to the victor to decide how to proceed with this. Going back to my comment about honesty. While I don't think it'll bring complete closure for the next of kin, perhaps it'll give them some guidance on how their children may want to come up in this world."

As I read through the Encyclopedia Canadianna of the Mafia Underworld, I don't so much remember the speeches that people made after war, but rather the leaders sharing their visions for the future after the war, and things that breathed life into a world that needed it.  To me, talk is cheap.  I much more appreciates the actions that people take to mould this thing of ours.

In recent memory, RobOakheart/ChristianGato had a "Free City" approach which I think worked well to engage people who had become otherwise disenchanted with the world.  After a long reign by DrBoom which saw much of the power consolidated into a couple of cities while others were just left empty and rotting -  Many prominent bloodlines came to relevance and there was a period where the world was thriving, and opportunities were plentiful. 

The downfall of the plan seemed to be that it eventually led to a reign of the Grin/Disorder lineage which the gods had to come in and intervene as we all kept thinking that we could work with them until it was too late and no one could work with them, or even do anything to stop them.
