There is a shop in a nearby plaza called Johnny's Fresh Meats. There radio jingle ends with "You can't beat our meat!" Not sure if they wrote it that way on purpose but am kinda figuring they did...lol. And by all accounts they sell good meat so whatever works I guess. :) |

There is a thing called "Overheard in Waitrose" from a couple years ago, and it was just people sharing the stuff they overhead people saying in the grocery store chain Waitrose. It has a reputation of being a middle class grocery store in the UK (at least that's my sense of it based on what other people tell me). Some of the stuff may be made up by people, but sounds totally credible. Some examples include: ‘Daddy does lego have a silent ‘T’, like merlot?’ ‘You’ll like potato darling, it’s what Gnocchi is made of’ ‘Darling, do we need parmesan for both houses?’ Google it if you ever get curious! |

Just as I was getting tired of "people of walmart", you renewed my interest in supermarket stupidity. There are some amazing one liners in there, thank you for bringing them to my attention!
My personal favorite so far: Don’t forget the Cashmere enriched toilet roll, darling.
Unfortunately, unlike people of walmart where there's photographic evidence, a lot of these overheard stories appear to be fabricated, probably by poor people. (No, no, I’m not a snob but people who aren’t rich disgust me.)
In case you google "people of walmart", be advised that while some things may be safe for walmart, that doesn't necessarily mean they're safe for work... |

So this wasn't overheard in a shop, but outside one instead. I was waiting outside for my partner as she went in to get some stuff. There was a really cool Dog tied up outside that really looked the part - bandana tied around the collar and all that stuff. I did go and have a little stroke to say hello, then left to go and stand back where I was before. Anyway, when the owner came out, he was stroking the dog and giving it some water, as well as re-arranging his bags. While talking to the Dog, I overheard that it's name was "Genocide" - well, I was no good and found it pretty much hilarious! |
