I know for a fact that Albanian mafia is currently one of the mayor players in Europe. All the stuff comes there trough Kosovo on the north and into Europe. Literally like in the movies, drugs coming in huge cargo ships, bribe the workers, pull it out, cut it to like 50-50 so from 200 tons create 400, send it further north. And I am talking movie like cities with huge walls and private army, literally a city with a huge wall where the police does not and can not go. Or Google Darko Saric, Montenegro.... That dude was LITERALLY in contact with South American cartels and he brought gazillions into Europe.

I mean, there are plenty of gangs here in Montreal, but the Consortium (West End Gang, Montreal Mafia, Hells Angels) is all that’s worth mentioning. We’ve also got the Rizzuto crime family who I’m pretty sure the gangs answer to.

I personally prefer when Rizzutos have a firm grasp on things. Life is a whole lot more peaceful. Probably like 15 years ago head of the family Vito Rizzuto got arrested and while he was in jail his son was killed and his father sniped in his own home, then when Vito got out of jail the city was just… mental. People getting killed left right and centre. He’s dead now but it continued even after his death through his son Leo who is said to be the head now.

The first season of Bad Blood is very LOOOSELY based on what happened. As someone who remembers things very differently it can be frustrating to watch sometimes for me but it was a decent waste of time.

Interesting thread, as some have mentioned is hard to be exactly sure what constitutes a real organised crime gang, but how i define it is they have in common some type of system whereby you 'work your way up' in the ranks , or are born into a specific family that is in leadership and also the ones i know of tend to be involved mostly in drugs, could be other areas, such as blackmail, stand over extortion, ect. 

I Live in New Zealand here there is perhaps 5 major ones and offshoots or small breakaway or affiliated groups from the others, the smaller ones often change their names, The major one's are the Satan's Slaves, the highways ( think this is branch of angels - biker gang ) we have Triads and also the BP's and Mongrel mob.

As far as i am aware first you are 'associate' then if you do whatever needs done they give a 'patch' to wear on the jacket, such patches can .. if stolen, then be sold to other gangs, that i find interesting.

Lots of gangs and organised criminals in the UK. Most coxaine smuggling is controlled by the Albanian mafia, also have the turkish-cypriit mafia operating in London. The Russian Mob is also starting to make its mark, as are gangs of chilean Burglars. 

Liverpool has strong international links, and a lit of Drugs and firearms are smuggled into England through its busy ports, with strong links to Irish gangs. The Liverpudlian gangs are mostly youth gangs, who sell the contraband for their wealthy overlords. Notable local gangs include The East Side Boys, The Whitney Gang, The Croxteth Crew, The Deli Mob, Wavo 420, The Strand Gang, The Fernhill Gang, The Kirkstone Riot Squad, The Laneheads, The Scottie Road Crew and The Linacre Young Guns. 

A small number of local Mancunian gangs control most of the greater manchester area, although the various foreign mobs have been making serious inroads. Current big names include Outfits such as The A-Team, The Cheetham Hill Gang, The Gooch Close Gang, The Pepperhill Mob and The Doddington Gang.

In Glasgow, most of the city gangs are family affairs generally known as ‘clans’, the two most feared and successful are The Lyons Clan and The Daniels Clan. The two families are the fiercest of rivals. Primarily, their animosity stems from working in the same industry - drugs. Their ongoing clan war has been going for over 2 decades at this point. 

Then we come to my home town, Belfast. It’s believed that more than 75% of the city’s criminal activity is drug-related (the rest is a combination of fraud, sexual exploitation and other slightly lesser offences). While there is a European presence here - primarily Russian and Eastern European - the majority of gangs are composed of local men. Paramilitary involvement in organised crime is what keeps religious and political lines drawn and often sees heightened violence and more personal retribution dished out. Where there is organised crime in Belfast, expect the IRA, UVF, INLA, UDA and anyone of a dozen or so offshoot factions to be heavily involved.

The National Crime Agency believes that there are currently about 4700 organised crime gangs operating in the UK accounting for over 4% of the countries GDP, about £90 billion.
