Roper stepped out of the HQ into the Pasadena streets colloquially known as “Bum Row”. As Roper looked up and down the street, beggars huddled up against buildings, jangling their cups and caps in hopes of receiving change from passers-by. Their presence was mostly tolerated more due to their protection from the Royal Bums than from the acceptance of the locals, as long as they paid their taxes to the family. |

Roper had spotted his target sitting around a burning fire can with a few of his friends. Roper spent a few seconds before going with shock and awe. He straightened his leather jacket. Adjusted his flat cap, and picked up a piece of used 2x4 lying on the street. He rested it on his shoulder as he walked. |

Roper pushed through the doors of 420 Beggar's Row. HQ, Home. The man being pulled behind him almost resigned to his fate, he did try to fight as he got close but after a swift kick was bought back into line. Roper pulled a right from reception, through a series of hall-ways marked by "storage rooms" and meeting rooms. He passed his own office before heading into the bosses's room. |

Koehler shook his head in disbelief. Any self-respecting man would refuse to be seen in this kind of light, begging and pleading for survival. Most would rather die with dignity and take a bullet. Alas, this man wasn't the brightest. He was pinned on the floor for reasons that only he can be blamed for. "Your mumbling is getting tiring." Koehler reached under his desk and grabbed a dirty rag. He shoved it into the back of the beggar's throat. Koehler noticed the beggar staring at his canines. "Heh. You like them? This one here," Koehler pointed to the smaller Rottweiler on his left, "her name is Lucy. The Pitbull is Broc." Koehler reached down and gave them both a firm pat on the head. He could see the beggar's mood lighten slightly, as if he was getting relieved. "Oh, no, no... you see, they aren't your friends. They're going to fucking eat you, maim you, tear your limbs off one by one. They obey me, they're loyal to me, just like you should have been. You knew the deal when you shook my hand a few months ago. Now, it's time to face the consequences for your actions." Koehler sighed. Torture wasn't his idea of a good time, but messages needed to be sent. He grabbed some sturdy rope and tied the beggar's hands up behind his back, tight enough that there's no chance he could wriggle free. He walked over to his two beautiful canines. "You two, stay." He walked over to Roper and put his hand over his shoulder. "Thank you for bringing in this piece of shit. Let's get out of here, you don't want to see what's about to happen." Koehler dragged Roper out of the room, knowing full well what's about to happen. He closed the door, locked it behind them and sighed again. He cleared his throat to get his shouting voice ready. "Lucy, Broc, SIC 'EM!" He had to yell through the door, for obvious reasons. The terrifying sound of growls were heard instantly, followed shortly thereafter by screams of pure agony. The canines were doing their job and doing it well. Koehler trained them right. He turned to Roper, screams still being heard. "Alright, I have other business to tend to. You stay here. Once the screaming stops and the pups calm down, clean up that mess. They know you, they won't mess with you. Might need to get a cleaning crew in as well. Damn it, I just had the walls painted too..." Koehler sighed yet again. He nodded to Roper and walked down the hall, disappearing out of sight. |
