"Uh, are you fucking crazy?" Evie interrupted her partner in crime's train of thought. He really had the audacity to suggest that robbing a mob boss' precious safe of jewellery and cash was a good idea. Despite working for the mafia for a little over a week, she was still very much a newb. She had no problem leading drug deals and crimes of that sort, but bank robberies... big scores like that - Evie was clueless. It was an early morning on a Friday. Evie sat at a street bench beside her for-lifer and partner-in-crime. She took a big bite out of her tuna and avocado sandwich to let out her frustration and stress over his plan. It didn't help that their view from the bench was the exact office building of the mob boss they were trying to commit thievery on. Evie's eyes nervously darted left and right before they landed on her friend. "Okay fine Lucas... FINE. But if we're doing this, we're doing it my way." Suddenly the doors of the office building opened and out came one of LA's most wanted. Evie stared in awe at how many bodyguards was surrounding him. She took a sip of her coffee, masking the fear in her eyes. |

Evie, dressed like she was about to be the leading actress in an action movie, signalled to Lucas to help her assemble the weapons. She leaned against the boot of the car as she flicked open her fresh pack of cigarettes. He walked towards the gear at the back of the car then gave Evie a funny look as if to say 'um... we have no time to waste here.' All she did was shrug and lit a ciggy up. "Calms the nerves." She then brought it closer to her, inhaled the smoke slowly before letting it out. "Ah...," she sighed. "Good ol' nicotine hit." Lucas just shook his head and started going over the plan again. They were parked a few blocks from the mob boss' headquarters, waiting for the man to leave with his pack of guardians. Evie was done with her cigarette, finally, and she grabbed her glock. Seated in the car on a sweaty and humid day was not how Evie planned the day. But she sucked it up and continued to watch over the entrance doors. Lucas, seated beside Evie, squinted his eyes to get a better view. Evie turned to him with an annoyed expression on her face. "I keep telling you to get your fucking eyes checked out. Your aim is getting shit." She let out a nervous laugh, one that didn't seem to do a good job of making a chill atmosphere. "Shut up," Lucas snapped. He tightened his grip on his gun. Evie was still looking at him. "Look. Look! He's coming out now." He announced sharply. |

Evie went ahead. As she led the way, she could see that the mob boss and his men had already turned the corner. They really are a stupid bunch though. She raised a brow and gave Lucas a puzzled look. "Left the doors unlocked? Rookie shit..." She kept her grip tight on her gun and slowly kicked the doors open. There was the kitchen to her left, and then the office to her right. There was no guards. Anywhere. She was starting to think that this was all a little bit suspicious, but she kept going ahead with the plan so as not to waste time looking around. "Evie, shit. Car." She immediately swung around in the direction of the engine sounds and ran to the window, opening the curtains a little bit. Her heart was beating so fucking fast she couldn't hear herself think. But to her relief, it was just a guy delivering a parcel. She sighed in relief and shook her head. "Mailman. We're fine..." Or so she thought. Lucas was already inside the office and he looked at the inside of his wrist. "3-2-7-... Oh shit I mean 3-7-2," he spoke to himself as he rushed to enter the passcode to the safe. Once it finally opened, the precious jewels and mint condition cash made his eyes light up. "Now this is what I'm fuckin' talkin' about!" Evie laughed proudly and quickly opened the zip of the duffel bag that Lucas was carrying. In the middle of trying to grab as much cash as they could, Evie could hear engines outside again. "My guts tell me that isn't the mailman again." |

Luckily, during the planning process Evie had already thought of this maybe happening. And now that this was occurring for real, she acted fast. Grabbing the last stacks of cash, she shoved it in the bag and quickly headed out the office. There was the back exit, which of course would probably already be men standing guard there so the alternative route would be to... jump out the window upstairs. "Evie," Lucas tried to catch his breath as he kept on running up the staircase, "remember when you told me I was the crazy one? Well today I think you just proved yourself wrong." The bedroom door was wide open and both of them got in before hurriedly closing the door behind them. Many footsteps could be heard down below and Evie was sure as shit that she and Lucas would be dead meat if they stayed in that room any longer. She noticed the worried look on his face, and she slapped him out of it. "Hey, trust me... It's all worth it. We're gonna be walking-... or rather JUMPING out feeling like a million bucks." The guards shouting and making a racket downstairs didn't really give Lucas time to second guess his decision. He just looked at her all serious and nodded. Without hesitation, they both jumped out and -luckily- landed on some soft grass. Evie took in sharp breaths as she tried to recollect her thoughts. "Wow. We really just did that." |

Back at Evie's apartment, they started counting up the bills and it definitely came to a million. From her seat at the couch she could hear Lucas shouting from the bathroom "fuck yeah!" She held the money in her hand, smiling. However, the mischievous act wasn't over yet because it was just beginning, and it was actually about to get worse. Once they had both split the cash, Lucas went his separate way and agreed that he would meet her at their usual meeting place, which was at the local pizzeria. The owner of the restaurant knew them well and always reserved a table for them. She greeted him goodbye and she peacefully went to sleep that night knowing she was one million dollars richer.
The morning sun greeted her eyelids and she slowly woke up with a random craving of glazed donuts. Good thing that she was going to meet Lucas at the place they said they were going to meet at so she could order breakfast there. She lazily dragged herself out of bed and forced herself to take a shower because she personally didn't want to go out looking like a troll. When she was all dressed and looking half decent, she fed the dog and then walked out her apartment en route to the pizzeria. But something felt wrong... when Evie got there and approached the table that was reserved for them, a note had been left on the table. The word 'RUN' in rushed writing was written. |
