Qui-Gon-Jinnfather-Chairman Started by: Belle_ on Aug 19, '21 13:26
In what seemed like another lifetime, some may say another galaxy, a gentle but fierce man existed. Qui-Gon-Jinn had been through a lot and seen even more in his long life to reach the point he was at today. He had been through battle and long, restless nights, fighting for the greater good of the people who call Philadelphia their home. His main priority was to keep his people protected and see them grow into who they wanted to be. He’d been known to talk with his people and learn what their goals were so that he can help them reach their vision. A sign of a respected leader. Another priority was bossing Brutus around. Brutus mostly obliges, he's a trooper.

Today is the day, Sir. You have a big meeting with the current Godfather of Philly. I know he requested your presence at his compound, hopefully he is willing to listen to your ideas to help the city flourish again. Things need to change around here. His actions are making the rest of us look bad and it's only a matter of time before his paranoia lands us all six-feet under. Just put a bullet in his head already, will ya?

“Violence isn’t always the answer, Belle. Remember, you must concentrate on the moment, feel, don’t think. Always trust your instincts. Everything has its own time and place. Your focus determines your reality. I will determine the outcome once I understand the Godfather’s intentions behind his plans.” He was wise beyond his years. Almost as if he’d been studying since he was born. That's a story for another time and place.

On the drive over, Jinn confided in Belle and Atropos that he had a vision of meeting with the current Godfather of Philly. His vision wasn’t as clear as others he’s had in the past, but he could see the Godfather and him in a meeting followed by a struggle. Brushing it off, Jinn left the car and disappeared into the courtyard of the Godfather's compound. After a few minutes, they heard one shot and a loud thud hit the floor. Emerging from the door was Qui-Gon-Jinn, the new Godfather – Chairman of Philadelphia.

Knowing that his eternal consciousness required him to be genuinely selfless the new GFC proclaimed “I did this for the greater good of the city. His plans for Philly would’ve surely ended with all of us dead and he needed to be stopped. I told him I needed to speak with The Council. The situation had become much more complicated. He refused to listen to reason. Once I saw him draw the gun from his waistband, I knew the only solution was to shoot first. I did what had to be done.”

Thank you for what you’ve done for us all so far. We look forward to working under your leadership and continuing to lead us the way you have been doing. The dawn of a new day is here and no one more equipped to lead us in, than you.

Congratulations, Godfather – Chairman Jinn. An honor truly deserved. Now we’ve got a party to get to.

Qui-Gon-Jinn, Belle, and Atropos head over to the car waiting. Once inside, Belle slips the driver an address. Take us here, please. The Godfather has a celebration waiting for him.

Finding out where large underground gatherings were taking place was one of the Freak's favorite pastimes. While he was very rarely actually invited to these things, a lot of his own men could find invitations and hushed conversations about the most secretive of things that were happening in the American Mafia- one of which was Qui-Gon-Jinn's Godfather ceremony where tons of men and women; none of which whom were the Greek, got invited to what was considered a very lavish party wherein the newly regaled Godfather would be given congratulations and blessings by many different figures, most of which would notably be from Philadelphia.

While the Greek was not from Philadelphia, the city of New York was close enough that a few of his close friends had heard about what was being called a celebration for the ages. One of which he clearly was not invited to, but that had never stopped a man from attempting to peddle his merchandising across city lines.

He arrived at the address he had been given for the festivities; slowly edging his way towards where Belle was standing, he pulled out a small burlap sack and took out what was a mint condition basketball with the etchings of a name written out in perfect cursive- having been working night and day to upgrade his penmanship to a respectable level.

"Let your boss know that this gift is for him and that only a handful have ever been signed... this one may be the first that is actually legible, now that I think about it."

It was beautifully crafted from a few of his finest forced laborers and had been hand-stitched entirely, giving it a very authentic feel when bounced against any sort of pavement. After giving such a thoughtful gift, the tall man left without saying another word; overstaying your welcome at one of these things, especially for a Godfather, would give you a bit of a negative reputation, and if he ever wanted his merchandising to pay off, he needed to keep a low profile.

"THIS IS A WONDERFUL PARTY. KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK AND CONGRATULATIONS."

The low-profile part was still a work in progress. With those final words, it was time for him to escape in the only way that he knew how, by running away as fast as his long legs could take him. Thus ended another chapter in his long book of attempting to give every single auth a piece of merchandisable sports equipment or wares.

When the driver stepped Qui-Gon quickly looked over himself to make sure he was clean and presentable. Upon assuring himself that everything was fine he thanked the driver and stepped out of the car, briskly walking inside of the building.  Upon walking inside he was happy to see his many friends and family here to celebrate his achievements.

"I just want to thank everyone who has supported me, and helped me along in this journey. It has not been an easy one, but it was well worth the distance travelled." Qui-Gon takes a sip of some liquor when he notices that GreekFreak is here, and handing a ball over to Belle. After handing over the ball GreekFreak then loudly proclaimed his congratulations and appreciations of the party.

"Wow, that guy sure is a character. No wonder he lives in such a large city like New York. You need a large place to maintain that clearly large personality."

Catherine popped out from behind the potted plant she had been hiding behind listening in to the conversations around her for juicy tidbits and gossip that could be used in future editions of the Cooter Times. "Did you say something about personality, Boss?" she asked Qui-Gon-Jinn before reaching out to help herself to the glass in his hand and with a smile and a wink. After taking a sip herself she looked around the room, "quite the turnout, guess you're pretty big news now, eh?" Catherine said.

Opening her mouth she was ready to get a quote for the paper, as obviously this was a story that needed to be covered, any time a new Chairman was announced, the streets celebrated. But before she was able to get the words out, find out how her boss and friend was feeling about the whole experince a majestic sable horse appeared outside the window. Pointing with the hand holding her glass, Catherine just said "Horse!" her voice excited, and the reason for the event forgotten.
