Soliloquy on Existential Fulfillment Started by: Zeitgeist on Sep 28, '21 12:25

"You've been staring off at nothing for quite a while now, people are starting to stare".

So let them stare, why would I care if they stared at me or not?

Well, it's not just about you

What do you mean it's not just about me? If people are staring at me how is that not about me?

I'm just saying there are other people to consider that's all.

You seem far too easily bothered by what other people, may think or potentially think of us.

*Zeitgeist was sat, wearing his absolute sunday best attire, freshly pressed suit not a wrinkle in sight, he held a signature leather wallet in his right hand which he was playing with as he stared aimlessly at a particularly empty piece of wall. His mind continually found itself circling back to this way of life and how he was continually exposing himself to danger and risks only to earn more prestige and title and rank, only to be exposed to more prestige and risk...*

*Zeitgeist leant bank in his chair dropping his arms lifelessly to his sides and audibly sighed, he looked exasperated and frustrated with something as his stare intensified at the drab piece of dry wall*

It just doesn't make any sense

What doesn't?

Literally bloody any of it...

*Zeitgeist considered the fact that as much as one can embrace danger and how ambition is a primary trait in any species that wants to survive for any meaninful amount of time, the lifestyle we choose to lead means it doesn't leave us time to actually enjoy the by product of our hardwork. He considered how almost no one leaves this profession to reside in some sleepy italian village in the foothills of Mt Etna. His friends and his parents friends had historically left violently, and most of them in the primes of their lives. How is the hard work worth it, if all we have to look forward to is a few tulips on our grave on hopefully, if we were loyal and worked hard some kind words as a eulogy.*

That's probably happiness and good enough for someone isn't it?

It's not happiness for me though...

Well what is happiness for you?
