That Way had lead Alice to a quaint pond nestled in a bright park. Alice sat by the pond just watching the day. It was the best hobby to have, that she could think of anyways. She was enjoying her day watching quietly when she heard someone seemingly arguing with themselves. She turned left to right and cocked an eyebrow in the quacking ducks direction.
His long white feather covered neck was turned as if he was talking to someone following him. Yet, when Alice looked to see who it might be she didn't see anyone to be talking to. " Well maybe he speaks to himself." Alice said out loud. The Cheshire Cat who had been lounging on tree branch in a nearby tree laughed at her words. " You do know when you talk to me you look like you are talking to yourself?" He gave her his usual beaming manical like grin as she turned to look at him. Just as she was about to retort back to The Cheshire Cat the white waddling duck stopped near Alice quaking dialect growing softer and quieter as he watched the spectacle of this girl talking to a tree. With each waddling step slower than the last the duck became oblivious to the fact that the grey mouse sitting comfortably near his ducktail was squeaking back at him in complete animation. When the duck stopped waddling and quacking the mouse also quieted and they both looked at Alice talking at nothing in a tree. "That is nonsense." She scoffed at the Cheshire Cat. Alice's attention was turned toward the duck and the mouse as they sat there watching her talk to a tree branch. "Hello, I am Alice." She smiled at the duck and mouse pleasantly. The duck ignoring her turned his head sideways to his companion the gray mouse." What do you suppose it is ?" The little mouse scurried up the ducks back and leaned around its neck. Peering at Alice he squeaked back to the duck," What is it?" The duck shrugged the shoulder the mouse was resting on jostling the small creature," You dolt that is what I asked you." The mouse taking offense to being called a dolt brushed several of the ducks feathers backwards causing the ducks skin to quiver out of his control. The mouse and the duck continued arguing on this new question as the duck turned and waddled off down the road. The Cheshire Cat jumped down from the tree branch and sauntered around Alice's ankles his tail trailing around her legs as he circled her. "Nonsense shmonsense six, one or half dozen of another." |
