Roxie made her way over to Velma’s Place.  Velma and a few of the ladies had left her Aunt Sadie’s brothel  on the bayou in New Orleans to set up in New York.  Velma turned it into a high class place.  A lot of prominent men rolled through there.  The ladies took real good care of them.  They lavished them with hot unscented oil baths (they wouldn’t want their wives to smell scented oils) and rubbed the tension out of their necks.

Some had a special woman they would frequent as did NPC Godfather Tony Bari. When I told Don @ Squirrelly-Dan that would be an ideal place to take him out, literally with his pants down, he laughed at first.  As I explained a plan that would be quick and easy he agreed.

I set it up with Rae, Bari’s favorite lady to go down this Sunday morning.   She couldn’t wait; Velma had to get on to Bari for being too rough with her a few times. Bari had an appointment with Rae every Saturday night like clockwork, staying to the wee hours Sunday morning. 

When I arrived at Velma’s place there were only a few drunks lingering around at a table and Sammy was cleaning the bar ashtrays.  I sat down at the bar, asked Sammy to pour me a shot of Cognac.  I took a small sip and felt the warmth go down my throat. Peter-Gangi with a few men who just stood back and he walked over to join me.  As he walked over he told me that this was a very nice place.  I wondered if he was just telling me that or he had been there before.  Once he learned that everything was in place that Bari was in Rae’s room, Sammy passed him the phone and he made the call to Don Dan.

About twenty minutes later Squirrelly-Dan and Le-Semois arrived and joined them at the bar.  Donna one of the housekeepers came over and told the light under Rae’s door went out her signal that Bari was nice and tired.   I watched while Dan, Peter and Le-Semois headed upstairs to Rae’s room.

It seemed like forever but I finally saw them come down the stairs.  From that satisfying look Dan gave me I knew he was the new Danfather- Chairman of Manhattan.   I watched as he left for the Headquarters where a fine celebration was waiting for him.  Peter and his men followed out behind him. 

Pete entered Velma's place looking around he was there on business, a few of the women made passes at him but he merely smiled and kept moving until he saw whom he was looking for.  He gave Roxie a nod and then sat next to her and after a few minutes Pete asked Sammy for the phone to place a call.   Pete waited for Don Squirrelly-Dan in the lobby.   Apples and Nails waited by the stairs to ensure that Bari didn't leave.   

When Dan arrived Pete stood to his feet and walked over and shook Dan's and Le-Semois's hand.  Then they and Dan's man Tony Araya followed Pete to Rae's room.  Apples, Tony and Nails stood by at the bottom of the steps to ensure no one went up after them.  The lights were off which was the signal.  The door to her room was unlock.

Without making a sound they entered the room first Pete, then Joey then followed by Dan and Le-Semois.  With the light from the hallway behind them Pete saw Dan gave the nod.  Joey took Rae out of the room.   Minutes later they exited the room Le-Semois followed by Dan and then Pete.   The plan went accordingly and now Dan was clear to assume the mantle of Godfather of Manhattan.  

Tony took Dan and Le-Semois to the family's headquarters.  Pete went to get cleaned up an would meet them later.

Roxie called Claudette who was waiting at the Headquarters to let her know to breakout the food and champagne and get the celebration started.  DanFather-Chairman of Manhattan was on his way.

Roxie hung back at Velma’s Place to make sure everything went alright with the cleanup and Velma was alright. 

Velma suggested to Don Bari’s people that it would be bad for her business and Don Bari’s reputation if this was made public.  They agreed and arrangement was made for the cleaners to deliver his body to a special location. When she arrived at the at the celebration word had already got out on the streets that Don Bari was gunned down in his car not far from his home.

The celebrating had already started.  Peter-Gangi had already arrived and gave her a big smile as she walked in.  So many people had got the word and came to congratulate the DanFather.

All Roxie knew was she seen a very proud Godfather Chairman in front of her, standing his ground as he was being congratulated.

Tutte were very glad to see that the great Squirrelly-Dan took aGF-part which he were worth to one houdred procent, betetr GodFather were not easy to find, there were some but he really were happy over seeing the great Dan hanged up his Canadian flag in his office which he liked a lot. Better canadian were not easy to spot.

He took dan the mans hand and shooked it warmly when visiting him to show his deepest and warmest feelings over this GF-taking.

Tutte were outside again after his short stop at this great man and took a smoke before heading to new adventures fast.

Pete was at the celebration of Squirrelly-Dan's party as he is now the Godfather of Manhattan.   Apples gave Pete a tap an then a slight nod at the towards the entrance Pete watched as Roxie entered he gave her a smile as she walked in.  Pete was there to stand on line and pay his respects to his Godfather Squirrelly-Dan.  

Pete was happy that Dan was made the Godfather of Manhattan.  Dan worked hard for it and he was a man of honor, one that Pete came to respect as a person.  Dan showed his leadership and Pete knew he was the right mafioso to follow.  Apples stood next to Pete with a brief case and when the Godfather sat at the table of honor Pete walked over and greeted him in the manner of the oldways.  His kissed his Godfathers ring and called him Godfather then he turn is head over his left shoulder and gave Apples the nod to hand the brief case to the Godfather's man.  

"A gift for you Godfather.  I know you love horse races and well this came from the fourth, fifth seventh and tenth race and I think it will make you happy.   I'll step aside now as you have a lot of well wishers here to see you."   

Pete again kissed his Godfathers ring and then moved over to the side and eventually went to get a drink in celebration.   

Word travelled quickly, and as Ava hung up the phone, she turned to pack her bags. Time seemed to drag as she made her way back to her home, New York, and the headquarters of the only real family she had ever known.

Ava slipped in quietly and a smile parted her ruby lips. The festivities were well under way; her green eye’s scanned the room and immediately spotted them. They were hard to miss, these men of great stature. Her heels barely heard over the band beginning to set up and the hustle of both staff and family bustling about to bring out the finest liquor and food. Ava found herself standing shoulder to shoulder with Peter, and she gave him a playful nudge. As he turned to look at her, she gave him a quick wink and a bright smile flashed across her face.

Peter had just given something to Godfather Dan and this brought Ava’s attention turned to Dan; THE man of New York. Stepping closer to shake his hand and kiss his cheeks. His face flushed and Ava thought perhaps the glass in his hand needed refreshed. She looked over her shoulder, toward the bar, and raising her hand motioned her delicate wrist to indicate another round was needed, pronto. She then reached into her handbag to retrieve a slightly perfumed envelope and placed it in Dan’s hand. She smiled at him, with an utmost respect.

“Congratulations, Godfather”.

All of a sudden Roxie’s intriguing mind leads her to understand what a terrible mistake she has made.  Fuck, she realized that she referred to Squirrelly-Dan as Chairman.  Through her journals a few of her ancestors had achieved the rank of Chairman and the word just stuck in her mind.  She thought to herself maybe no one would notice.  She  quickly dismissed that idea due to the blatant disrespect that might be perceived shown to the acting GFC @Dadga.

Roxie decides to just leave it alone. Everyone was enjoying themselves and Dan was having his day, it was her bad. Don @Dadga is a good man and friend.  Surely he will understand.
