Revenant was having a very good morning. He met up with a couple of new guys. There was a goomba and a wet behind the ears civilian turned Gangster. Named Vito and Freddy respectively. He was to meet up and teach them the Fish Truck route. It was simple they would be trusted to drive a route, and help unload the days order at several crew ran fishmongers. In addition they would pick up any "bad fish" ie bodies for disposal. Returning to the coastal docks they would ensure the cargo was put on outgoing fishing boats and dumped far out to sea. 

Scooping up.  Vito was easy, he was a solid guy who knew he was wise to keep his ears open and mouth shut. He was gonna be a fine made man one day. Freddy was not so smooth. Pulling up to his building he's out front arguing with a woman. Noticing the truck Freddy turns to leave but the lady, who is very pregnant claps a hand on his shoulder. He spins, slaps her hand away and shouts.

"I dont care what you do I did what I wanted and now I don't want you around. its what you do with whores" and stomping to the truck he gets in. As they pull away the girl is still sobbing falling to her knees as the truck rolls off. 

Making the first few stops Revenant lets both take a turn at driving to scope out their habits. Running a red, tailgating, anything to attract attention or risk the run was noted. Vito performed like a pro He had eyes on everything he saw another driver not noticing a light and stopped to avoid him. Freddy on the other hand was not at all professional. Honking at a old lady driving slow, speeding and swerving lanes like he had a racecar. Revenant was about to tell him to stop when they rolled by a soup kitchen. Laughing and giving the middle finger sign at the men lined up he jeered  "Losers, enjoy your soup". The light was red and a man missing his left leg hobbled over to the truck 

"Spare some change brothers?" He asked

Reaching out as if he was going to hand him something Freddy lunged and shoved the man to the ground. The light changed and he sped off.

"Pull over" Revenant barked, "Up here on the right". 

With a confused look he did as instructed and drove down the back alley until told to stop. Everyone got out at Revenants order and he looked at both of them. 

"I have some special instruction to give so Vito I need you to take the truck to the next stop and wait for me there"
 
Vito hops in the truck with a nod and pulls away while Revenant stares at Freddy without saying anything.

"what's up boss?" He asks

"I'm trying to decide what to do here. I'm real sorry but you aren't going to work out. Maybe this will be a learning lesion for you and another crew can pick you up and you will do good but not with me."

Freddy starts to stammer out something when he's cut off.

"BUT, I want to talk to you personally about something. This life takes a special kind of man. Honor and respect come with the responsibilities and you are accountable for what you do because it affects all of us. It affects the entire families reputation. We are the neighbors and friends of people in the community. They see us as part crook and part Robin Hood. YOU, think you are better than others, and now even more special. YOU think you can hurt and abuse anyone you want because you are protected? THEY are the protection. As long as we are corrupt and bad but not any more than the government taxing them they will keep our secrets. Someone like you could jeopardize everything, but you." Revenant stops and frowns at Freddie's confused expression. Revenant sighs, this one needs more direct explanation.

"On your way home you are going to go back and give the man you pushed down every dime you have, and your watch. You WILL go back and handle whatever situation you put your lady friend in and do the honorable thing there. And I want you to think about today and what you did to lead up to us here. Find yourself some direction in life.  I follow a code in my life, it came down from the Knights Templar. It goes like this,,"

Rushing him with a haymaker Revenant knocks Freddy on his ass saying.  "Believe in spiritual teachings and apply them in daily life!"

With a punch to the breadbasket that doubles Freddie over as he's getting up Revenant roars, "Defend the traditions of religion and the principle of faith!"

Eyes blazing in rage Revenant kicks Freddie's legs out from under him again, A loud pop satisfies Revenant in knowing Freddie will understand how hard having only one leg feels like for a while.  "Respect and defend the weak against abuses by the strong!"

Kicking Freddie's ribs  like it was punctuation Revenant growls "Love the people and sovereignty of your country and others!"

Balled up in the fetal position Freddy offers his back to Revenant who delivers a kick to the base of his spine screaming "Do not be a coward, face the enemy, and use direct force!"

Pacing back and forth almost wishing Freddie would get up Revenant barks  "Fight the enemies of good relentlessly and without mercy"
 

As he continues pacing angrily Revenants  voice is hitting a crescendo he continues to recite the code he's followed his whole life

 "Perform all secular duties under the higher Laws of God. Never lie nor breach your word, be reliable for friend or foe. "

"Give generously and wholeheartedly!" Revenant pauses to deliver one final kick to Freddie's ass he adds "for meaningful impact."

Standing above him Revenants eyes burn into Freddie's who's are wide in fear. He takes a few breaths and calmly says, "Always uphold right and good, against all evil and injustice" 

Spinning on his heel he walks off to meet back up with Vito. One day Freddie is going to do great and epic things. His name will go down in history. All he needed was a kickstart from Revenant on a bad day.
