Reflections of a Gangster Started by: JosephBonpensiero on Dec 07, '21 03:07

It’s another Tuesday afternoon on the Vegas Strip. Newly made man Joseph “Uncle Joey” Bonpensiero is in his penthouse apartment above the casino enjoying a fine cuban cigar and a beer, listening to the news on the radio.

“In the latest news on the war on the Italian mafia across the country, it’s been reported that several FBN agents have been exposed and charged with various offences due to the FBN’s most corrupt agents’ notorious affiliations with various crime families all over the United States. It’s reported that hundreds of kilos of a wide variety of drugs seized by these agents from small time street gangs and drug dealers end up directly in the hands of the country’s most dangerous gangsters and their multi-million dollar distribution networks. An average combined number of one billion dollars a year is believed to be given to corrupt agents in bribes as security for the mafia’s drug businesses as well as to turn a blind eye on the crimes these monsters commit in our neighbourhoods. We’ll keep you all posted with more information on the war on the Italian-American mafia regularly right here on public radio.”

Joseph laughs at the media’s attempts to slander the lucrative business that La Cosa Nostra have built from the ground up.

“Stupid assholes don’t even have their facts right! My guys flipped a hundred keys this week alone.” He laughs “A billion a year? Try a month dumbass! These stupido cazzos have no clue what goes on. Nice try though dipshits!”

A few hours pass and many drinks later, Joseph starts to reminisce on his past and how far he’s come in this thing. From being a small time crook to hitman and almost a made guy back in Florida, to the war between the Mortelli and Banucci families that took his cousin Vinny’s life and became the reason he fled to Vegas, ALL OF IT.

“Ah Vinny, only if you were here and could see what I made of myself here in Vegas. I miss you every day cugino, fino a quando non ci incontreremo di nuovo. I promise you I’ll make that cocksucker Mortelli and his whole family suffer for what they did to you. I wish you would’ve taken your own advice when you told me to pack and bag and you came with me. We could’ve ran the whole strip together you and me, come re in un castello! It could’ve been so different, but every buck I make is for you and Mama up there. I hope I’m making you proud Uccisore!”

Joseph feels an undying guilt and responsibility for his cousin’s death since it was the hit he carried out for the family Capo and son of the Banucci family’s Don, Lorenzo, on the nephew of Bruno Mortelli as payback for torching their warehouse. With a promise of being made, he carried it out without a second thought in his mind because Joey’s a soldier, it’s what he does. But that didn’t come. He was made to carry out the hit because he wasn’t made so the Banucci family could throw him under the bus and get him whacked by the Mortelli’s without the blowback coming back to them. But karma got their asses and unfortunately Joseph’s too when the Banucci family sold him out at a sit down. The Mortelli family over the coming days wiped out the entire Banucci clan, not a single survivor. They tried to track down Joseph but couldn’t so they whacked his cousin Vinny to send a message and took over from Orlando to Miami.

Even in this life, your past can and will haunt you if you’ve got skeletons in your closet. Whether you’re a small time crook or a boss, it will break you in one way or another……….
