Just curious.. Would like to see the variations from people and maybe even a few recipes or ideas at least. 
Who all does the traditional Pork & Sauerkraut on New Year's Day for Good Luck?
And if you do, how do you mix it up?  Different kinds of pork favorites?  Cook sauerkraut right in with the pork?  Add potatoes?  

I’ve never heard of pork and sauerkraut for luck, so sadly I cannot assist with ideas. It’s traditional here to have a steak pie dinner on New Year’s Day, so that’ll be my meal… and I’m not gonna lie - I’m pretty excited about it; been looking forward to it way more than Christmas dinner! :D

I have pork and sauerkraut (I only season with mustard seed, black pepper and salt). I do it a crockpot together and serve with side of mashed potatoes.  I was told the sauerkraut is a hang over remedy (helps with the queasies). Pigs in a blanket (cabbage wrapped around ground meat & rice mixture and topped with a light tomato sauce - I use condensed tomato soup) is also a popular dish for new year's day around here. 

Well Ror has already beat me to it.. but yeah its Steak Pie we have here in Scotland like my man Ror, I'm looking forward to it. Always go to my in-laws for New Years Day so will be doing that again this year, I feed them on Christmas day and they return the favour New Years Day.

Damn, got myself hungry now thinking about this.

And never gave pigs in a blanket a thought for New Years but I like that idea too.  Something different but having the right ingredients added.  

Wemake it every year as filling meal with mashed potatoes usual, the next few days it works it way threw you and cleans you out  it's all still good food,a great day for reheats also'  just recommend it it.
