Personnaly i think ronaldo is a much better player because he is faster ... more powerfull .. has the best freekick technique in the world ... has a better heading ability and has more flair and skill.  However thats just me.....

No contest Messi is regarded by the worlds elite in football as one of the best the game has ever seen.

I also belive that ronaldo is the more consistant player .. as he has played amazingly well at every team he has been at ... where as messi has only played for barcelona (the best team in the world) so if you took messi out of this team i belive you would notice a massive drop in his performance 

And messi is terrible at international level!

All you have to do is look at the hype surrounding the Champions League final to know how good Messi is. Everything was centred around how Utd could contain Messi and even them who are the best team in english football with a host of world clash talent couldn't do that and taught a lesson in football.

Fergi even consultant Jose on how to deal with Messi, Ronald has never enjoyed that level of attention. Messi can a change a game on his own, Ronaldo is good don't get me wrong but i also believe he's one of the most over hyped footballers of the modern game.

For the record, Romaldo is not faster than Messi. Also, yeah, he did score more goals in La Liga, but he also got way more pks. Ronaldo has great footwork and all, but he is not as good as Messi. Messi is unstoppable, and he can run around the whole field 90+ minutes at optimal speed.

On the international level, Messi isn't as good as Ronaldo. But this is mainly due to the fact that Argentina has terrible team chemistry.

How does Messi only playing for 1 team make him less consistent? And Ronaldo is a great player. But you have to remember, when he played for Manchester United in 08 and had a great season, united were the best team in the world. As of now, Madrid is probably 3rd best in the world, after Barca and Utd. So it's not like Ronaldo hasn't played for great teams either..

yes i see .. i didnt make alot of sence there did i (my bad)  , Well i suppose your right about ronaldo playing for great teams aswell , But messi isnt a consistant player .. if you watch him in barcelona then watch him play for argentina .. the difference in performence is shocking .. I belive messi has too much hype around him , ive watched football games where messi has contributed nothing to the game but the pundits still mention how great he has played when he made little impact O.o

You are correct in that. Messi hasn't played nearly as well on an international level.

Ronaldo needs to wave his leg around the ball 30 times to dribble around a player. Messi doesn't even dribble, but goes through 6 players with ease.

Sometimes the only way to stop Messi is to foul him.
When Messi falls down, he just gets back up and keeps moving. He doesn't dive like Ronaldo does.

Messi is clearly better than Ronaldo...Barcelona were a good team for years but then Messi came and made them the best team around.

Ronaldo left United and they won the league...If Barcelona lost Messi it's doubtful they would win the league.

I am probably going to annoy a lot of people by saying this.....

Messi doesnt perform well at international level because the team doesnt have the teamwork/gel that barca does, too many players who play for them selves, aguero, tevez, di maria are 3 examples who rarely play as team, however tevez has adaped that part of his game at MC recently even with the atmosphere surrounding him.

Messi have proved many times how he is better than ronaldo, he scores more air goals than ronaldo and hes smaller, messi is faster than ronaldo but speed isnt the issue here, the reason messi can run rings around players is his dibble speed and accuracy and technique, ronaldo may have it high but not as high as messi.

Am just going to comment on the speed issue here.

Ronaldo is faster than Messi, he has been clocked at 33.6 km/hour at last years world cup and was officially the fastest player in the world in 2009

I have to say Messi on this one.

Both are truly fantastic players, but Messi is an absolute treat, a total gift to football actually.
