The Bergin and Hunt Club Started by: Victor-Luchese on Feb 20, '22 08:54

Nothing impressive or eye catching about a brick building that looks like a side entrance to what was once a butcher shop.  You see a sign taped to the window that reads open to members only.  You step in and the smell of cigars smoke hits your nose.   You see several small tables with guys playing cards and or just talking.  Then you see the bar with bar seats in front.  Then you see a room that looks like a office to the right and rest rooms to the left as you h=face the bar.  It's crowded and you see a few young beautiful women standing around talking and smoking cigarettes.  Then you see the bartender talking to one of the women in the corner of the bar.  He looks up at you and nods with a smile.

Victor walks over to the door way of his office and spots who just walked in, He gave a nod and then looked at the bartender to pour you a drink.  Then Victor walks over to the bar and orders a scotch on the rocks and takes a drink.

"Nothing like a double shot of scotch at noon to keep the blood moving.  So what brings you here business or booze?"

Vic sat in his office drinking with Tony and Ricco.  They refilled glass after glass after glass and talked about a way to generate more money with a man named Jimmy Hoffa.   Jimmy was building the teamsters union and needed muscle and cash to back him.  Vic was the muscle but the cash was tight so he would have to float most of what Jimmy needed and then as they generated more cash float that towards him.

Jimmy needed two million to pull off everything he needed to secure enough votes and pay for ads and bribes to get more support by getting them a new health benefit.  Vic had seven hundred thousand on hand and another four hundred coming in another week.  Vic would have to squeeze some people on his shy business and rig a few bets to get the other nine hundred thousand.

Vic and his boys were shooting darts in the Bergin and Hunt club.  Carlos was much better than the last time they played in LA.   Tony was paying for the beer this time.   Him and Carlos were stuck with each other as teammates.   Ricco was the best between them all.  Vic was enjoying the conversations and the free beer they were drinking.  Popeye was watching the door as he was reading his paper and Nails was sating at the bar talking with the bartender Gwen.

Vic sat in his office while his boys and other members were in the club playing cards and shooting pool.  They all were drinking but Vic needed to think some things out.   Vic was making money and getting things in order and someday maybe get a house in Gross Point with the rest of the city's wealthy.   Vic didn't care much for flash but a home and maybe a family would be the right touch for a soon to be honest businessmen.

Report Post Tip

Vic sat at his table alone, he was thinking about his operations, and its security flaws.  He was still irritated that someone would make a hit in one of his spots, then someone assaulted one of his staff members.  Now someone hit his accountant and stole a hundred thousand dollars.  Vic was thinking that he has been going soft and needed to show some muscle on the streets.   The low profile with the world was one thing but now he needed to put someone in the dirt, it has to make a statement.

World was that it was a local that wanted to make a play, to show the families that he was someone they needed, the move was risky and paid off.  Vic sent Ricco and Nails to the man's home.  They didn't knock, they merely poured gasoline on the front porch and back doors and set it on fire.  Then they sat there and waited for anyone to come running out.  Two minutes later the man tossed a bag out the second-floor window and then he jumped out the window.

Ricco walked over and grabbed the bag and looked in smiled as the man stood up Nails was standing next to Ricco and showed him what was in the bag.  Nails nodded and then shot the man twice in the chest and then walked closer to him and as he stood over the man fired one into the man's head.  Vic knew that there was more money in the black bag that sat next to him, but the fact still remains some people are mistaking his kindness for weakness.

Vic sat in his booth drinking alone, he was heartbroken, he was task with telling a friend that he needed to turn himself in to take the heat off of the rest of the syndicate.  Vic and Lepke grow up together and they control a few unions together and made millions.  Now his longtime friend had to face the DA office or turn himself over to the Feds.

J. Edgar was no friend and Dewey was worse either way Lepke was facing a long prison sentence and the Judge he was facing was not a team player.  J. Edgar would agree to terms for the glory of the arrest but then the Judges he stuck you in front of would add additional terms and the criminal would be screwed.  All the families agreed this was the best course however Lepke was the one that put the hit on Dutch when he wanted to remove Dewey.  Now Dutch words were coming back to haunt the Commision.  Dewey was coming after them all one by one and no one new when their ticket would be pulled.

Sal walked into his family's social club.  He looked around and nodded to the people in the club.  He took a seat and ordered a whiskey for the table.  He looked at his men, Popeye, Nails, Tony and Sammy.  He told them that he was going to be a man of honor and that if they rode with him, they would never worry about eating or wanting for anything.  They agreed and gave him their field of loyalty.  Sal then made a toast and they quickly drank the whiskey.

Sal was back in Detroit and he immediately popped into the Bergin and Hunt Club.  Sal loved talking with the old gangsters, he didn't worry about civilians or cops these guys were all connected.  Sal ordered a turkey and bacon with cheese sandwich and a beer.  He sat at his favorite booth and started to eat.  Sammy and Apples walked in and stood at the bar and ordered pizza and beer then they walked over to Sal's booth and sat with him.  They didn't talk business but they did talk sports and broke each others balls with stories about each other past and the stupid things the other person did.  Sal ordered refills of the beers and chicken wings and another pizza and just then Popeye walked in and joined them.  The tendent brought beers for all four men then left to grab their pizza.  He told them the wings will take a bit they had to send someone out to the store to buy them then they have to prep and cook them.

Sal was playing poker with some of the old timers he was breaking even yet he was still enjoying his time with the older men.  Sammy and  popeye were at the bar talking while Apples and Tony sat by the door watching the goons they hired to keep the civilian and strangers out.  Sal and the older men were drinking beer and talking about events that occured before Sal was born.  Sal loved history and they things these guys saw occured when Sal dad was still in short pants.

Sal sat at the bar drinking and laughing with Whispers and Sammy.  Popeye and Apples walked in and joined them.  Sal was talking about the time they were kids and won a bet aginst the boys at their rival middleschool and then had to beat the boy down for the money that they owed them.  They all remembered the fight as they were hitting everyone they didn't know.   Then Popeye talked about how they took that money and went to buy junk food and sodas.

Killshot received a tip about a hot deal down in Motor City but it turned south. being quite annoyed he looked for a place to drink his frustrations away, he came into the Bergin and Hunt club and was greeted with smiles fro patrons and staff alike. he looked around grinning "Uncle Vic this place has your name all over it" he says to himself.

Kilshot and his entourage sate down in a booth and ordered therir drinks. Killshot looked at the waitress "thie is my familys club did my cousin Salvatore-Lucchese happen to be here recently? the waitress smiles "yes they were here yesterday now that you mention it, "

"dang missed him again" Killshot chuckled, one day he would catch up to his cousin to discuss plans of their businesses and opportuniteis for Chicago

Sal was backin Detroit he was sitting at his favorite spot, Sal was hoping that Alina would meet him at the club after she said she wanted to talk business with him.  Sal know that the cops and feds would not come within a hundred yards of the place.   Sal was drinking a seven and seven as Bobby sat across from him at the bar.  Sal was also waiting for Sammy to give him the details on the job that he was sent to do with the gang.  Sal watched the clock as he did he jotted down a few notes.  He looked the door waiting to see who wouldenter first.

Alina took a quick flight over to Detroit to meet with Salvatore-Lucchese at The Bergin and Hunt Club.  It was a nice quaint place where Mafioso knew that could handle their business in a secure place.  He was standing at the bar when she walked.  It was funny that he turned around to see her as she did.  That usual gorgeous smile came across his face when he saw her. He escorted her over to a table by the bar.  As they sat down he motioned for the waitress.  Alina told him she wasn't ready for anything strong that she would just have a glass of Coca Cola with plenty of ice.

When Alina walked in Sal couldn't help but smile, Alina had been his childhood friend, he he never told her about his feeling he lkept that guarded.  After she ordered a coca cola with ice Sal told her that his people were talking with the asians from the Restarunt Tings.  He told her that even if they refuse his offer the issue would be settled tonight.  He asked her how was she doing and if she was hungry as he finished off his seven and seven.

Sal was back in the Bergin and Hunt Club.  He was enjoying the night cool air as he stood on the roof, he was smiling as he sipped on his seven and seven and talking with Sammy and Whispers.  They were talking about the days they all ran up and down the streets as kids hoping tomake it big in life.  Now they had powerful friends and money, political connections.   They were where they wanted to be and yet they were still on roof tops looking out at the people and cars driving by.  Sal had to laugh because when he was a kid he thought that when ever he made it big things would change and these things would be a memories of the past.

Sal took a flight to Detroit soley for business reasons.  He had a sit down with Black Bill Tocco and Joe Zerilli of the combination and they needed to work out the points and other particulars.  Sal walked in with Sammy, Apples and Whispers.  Nails and Popeye remained with the car's.   Sal took a seat and then watched as Bill and Joe walked in with two of their bodyguards.

Sal stood as Bill and Joe embraced each other as they normally do in Sicily a hug, a firm handshake with a eye contact and a well wihsing word.  Sal then sat down again as they joined him at the table.  No drinks until the terms are set.  The business was with Jimmy Hoffa and the Teamsters Bill would control Jimmy and have one of his guys in the national organization, Zerilli would control the president of the local unions in Michigan and ensure that they collect the dues.  Sal would ensure certain businessmen would request large loans and the three would split the finders fee and non or the loan request would be denied.  Sal would control the locals in Illinois enforcing the same things that Zerilli would in Michigan.

Sal agreed and stated they they all would lean on businesses that hired union drivers to kick a little extra for faster deliveries and to prevent any delays and protection of large expensive loads which they agreed to.  Then Sal waved to the bar tender to send over the drinks.  The three made a toast and then sat and talked about the future and old age.
