The Name's Simplicity Started by: Simplicity on Feb 28, '22 04:17

Just another job, just another day, and just another thug. Simplicity was waiting around for the shop owner to show up, she looked like just another customer, but she as here to collect. She had heard the the shop owner had hired some protection. He wanted his own piece in the dough going around town. Yet, there was only one queen who ran this side of town and that was Paradise. So here Simplicity was to remind him who really ran things.

She counted three armed men in the shop, but there could be more in the back. She recognized the hired help at the door and when she winked at him he knew what was going down. He stayed, but she knew he would scamper off as soon as things started going sour. He looked for a quick buck, no loyalty was found here.

The door rang and she looked over to see the shop owner coming in to start his day. She knew by the way he walked, like he owned the place, but little did he know he was about to be informed of who really owned it. She may have just been a Wise Guy, but she acted a little different from most, she was quiet, she didn't need to talk much to get her point across.

"Excuse me," She said before he made it into the back. He paused and looked at her, then motioned for one of his employees to help her. Simplicity clinched her teeth.

"Excuse me."

She held the most unimpressed face a woman could express. He gritted his teeth then turned around with his salesman persona coming out.

"Yes, miss? What can I help you with?" He didn't walk towards her, but gave her a glittering smile.

Simplicity could barely hold in her disgust for the man, but she immediately swapped roles and smiled like she was enamored by him. Walking over to him she leaned in and greeted him with her eyes meeting his. Then within a moment she had her gun pulled and she once again smiled at him. All the men in the shop stood shocked at first, but quickly grabbed their own guns. Simplicity rolled her eyes and turned to smile at them too, while keeping her gun aimed directly under the shop owners chin.

"Let's keep things simple. Clean out his register and get out of here."

The men looked at her, then at the register, then back at her. Hired help is only as good as the pay, and around these parts not many paid well enough to keep the family from removing them from the equation. The boys smashed the register open and then split before nodding to her out of respect. Many of the men that were in the shop had been hired before by the family to assist with jobs a little bigger than usual and they appreciated the work when it was available.

Turning to look back at the shop owner her smile was no longer present. The man having seen how quick his hired help was to leave him was starting to realize the amount of shit he really was in for.

"You see how easily you just lost all that money in the register? That wouldn't have happened if you kept to your word. Breaking that costs far more than you can afford. We're a reasonable and honorable family you see, but you're scum. I don't like scum..."

His face was torn between two strong feelings, pissed because he thought he was smarter, he thought he could make more money, and terrified because he knew the family wasn't against putting a bullet to your head if you disrespected them. Which was exactly what Simplicity was contemplating on. The guy reeked of foul play and she had a gut feeling he'd try something again, but they were a reasonable family and ruling with fear is bad for reputation.

"The name's Simplicity...So I'll get to the point. Your rent is double until you have proven you aren't such a piece of shit. We'll determine when that is. Do anything stupid and you know the drill. Good luck hiding too." And with that she left him to pick up the pieces.

She put her gun away and pulled her coat up to her chin and the hood over her head to avoid the chill from the breeze outside. She also didn't need any curious eyes getting too good of a look at her. She waved goodbye as a reminder of their new deal and began walking back to headquarters. She could use a drink and a few good laughs with Tipper.
