| The Voice - Let me hear YOUR Voice | Started by: John_Fareham on Mar 14, '22 13:27 |
|
John_Fareham finishes singing the song for which he is most famous, at the funeral of FHM_3. His fee was an impressive $4m, and he uses that to purchase FHM Magazine and rebrand it The Voice... "Hello peasants, FHM_3 had lofty ambitions, but simply lacked the style and grace that I have. To business: The Voice will be the leading publication of this thing of ours. Whilst the attention devoid will continue to throw snowballs to get themselves noticed, The Voice will publish regular, punchy, tabloid stories and polls. I need your help. Join me. Read this leaflet, and hand it back to me, or in that anonymous box over there. We want to know; What to do with SmokyTheBear's money Should I join a crew? What should The Voice be? And many other things. Do the leaflet thing, and be part of history. Thank you."
John_Fareham starts to sing as he walks away:

A few leaflets have come back already. John_Fareham can exclusively reveal that: One person considers The Voice "Simply the media wing of the Kuku Anarchist Collective", whilst another opted for "breathe of fresh air." Someone thinks the $4m should be given to SmokyTheBear's son. I wonder who he is? Nobody thus far wants to be interviewed, with one scamp joking "you're [The Voice] boring." A full half of respondents think that FHM Magazine has been better than the entirety of the other street speeches this week. Not bad! One person thinks John_Fareham should join the "Kuku obits" crew, whilst another thinks I should simply retire. That's all so far. I'd like to thank Bacon, for being an excellent crew leader, and remind everyone else: I need your help. Join me. Read this leaflet, and hand it back to me, or in that anonymous box over there. |

Lincoln_Lawyer - for you, that was quite witty. A step up from base nonsense you usually project here. Have $4m, and enjoy every cent of it. Good lad. |

I'm all for freedom of the press as long as you fulfill the role of proper journalistic excellence. If you are just going to be an idiot and a shit stirrer, thats a different matter. |

“Can I have the $4 million instead?” asked the piggy as he strolled down the streets. Squealing could be heard for blocks. |

Isn't being a "shit-stirrer" part of journalistic excellence? Speaking truth to power? Comforting the powerless and disempowering the comfortable? Idiocy is, in this day and age, subjective. I don't think that the snowball fight adds much to the collective wisdom of this thing of ours. But to each their own. The popularity of a journalist in this world can go straight up and down - and that's why it's important to give a voice to the voiceless. I am a pariah. An outcast. So what options am I left with? To create a family business that my son, and his son, and his son, and his son, and his son etc will work in. ist hat what I'm to do, son? A distant relative helped get you to Godfather, and was given, instead of five units of creditstock, "a dirtnap." He was struck down, in a blaze of ignominy, for what, exactly? The sins of his father, son? |

Far from it, shit-stirring is the intentional act of causing trouble, that should never be the aim of a journalist. The aim of the journalist is the impartial reporting of the facts, regardless of where they lead, and whether the reporter themselves is happy with this result or not.
I don't believe you are capable of that kind of journalistic integrity, instead of following the traits of your forefathers and twisting the truth to fit your own narrative. That is called an editorial, and it is not journalism. A good journalist is like a good scientist, they start with a premise, and they follow the evidence arriving at a result, your family are famous for starting at a result and looking for evidence to support it, ignoring anything that doesn't uphold the world view they wish to project.
Like I said, I have a feeling you are incapable of this, the snide comments in your initial flyer would tend to confirm my supposition. Care to prove me wrong Mr Fareham? |

I could prove you wrong, yes. But I will need the protection of a crew. I think you'd kill me the first moment you had the opportunity. Is that journalism or editorial? |

Well I have no room, so I can't give you a home. I DOUBT given your families' past performances that you will find many a CH family willing to house you, however I'm sure a man of your talents would be able to convince one of the other 5 cities to offer you succor and refuge. I'd offer you an assurance that unless given a reason I wouldn't kill you, but I doubt you'd believe me. |

Because there are people in Chicago who have worked hard for that opportunity and paid their dues who would be offered that chance before a blow in. As Smokey found out, we are not in the habit of just letting folks set up just because they want to. |

“No, John_Fareham. Who the hell do you think you are? You’re just some punk thug that recently immigrated onto these shores. I’m having a laugh at your request. Piss poor attempt at trying to earn a place on these streets. If that even was one.” Bacon then throws fresh slices of bacon on a portable grill he had setup. |

Heston always enjoyed reading the news and was hoping for a little more in the leaflet but found it disappointing he took one looked through it again and ended up throwing it in the bin before walking off and looking for either a beer or the local market |
